We've apparently opened talks with cyriel dessers who would like to leave Cremonese. the fee that getting suggested is around £7 million.

Crazy money if true given his age. It's a position we have to get right and should spend money on though if we need to but I don't think this is the right player for us with our limited finances. If we was cheaper he would maybe worth it though.

Think if we get him it will be less than what they paid for him as they have just been relegated.

Can't see if buying him at that price, probably spend that fee on a cf but can't see it being him.

Not a chance it’ll be £7m, that’s just nonsense paper talk and has changed from even yesterday when one report said that Cremonese would be ‘looking to recoup as much of the £6m figure that they paid for him as they can’. But as has been pointed out, he’s a year older and the club has just been relegated so are no longer a ‘Serria A’ club. I’d reckon if we are actually in for him that we won’t be offering more than £4m tops and that would probably be enough to get him.

We need x3 forward players. Be lucky to spend 10m on yhe 3 of them.

Is he not a striker?

Maybe there's a trade to be done with Cremonese? player plus cash?

Get him for 3/ 4m then he would be a good buy, sell Colak for about 2m, i would like Haji Wright Dessers and Maja probably get them for close to 10m, Haji Wright and Maja can also play wide.

Wow! Didn't fancy him at the original £4m rumour - so hopefully this one doesn't prove to be accurate.

How does this make sense in terms of our player trading model? Weaker going to spend £7m on a 28 year and never get that money back. Even if he has a good season with us he’ll be 29 next summer, having already been to Holland and Italy. If a big money move was going to happen for him it would’ve occurred earlier in his career.

He’s a good player but £7m is hard to justify. Rangers should be buying young talent with a view to developing these players and selling them on at a profit. The only way teams like Rangers and Celtic can sustain in small leagues is regular European football and having a successful player trading model. Spending big money on this guy doesn’t make sense from a business perspective. Held need to give us a sensational 4 years to justify that money.

I can’t help but feel Rangers would be better buying potential. The 20 year old striker from Croatia we were linked with, and/ or Luis Palma, seem much better suited for a big money buy.

Verdant spot on ?.

Not every signing needs to be a player trading model signing.

We’ll get Dessers for £3.5m and that’ll be a good price for him.

I do agree with Verdant but it's worth considering that we could potentially sign 3 strikers in this window if Colak leaves. If Beale goes out and signs 3 young strikers and they fail to hit the ground running he comes under fire for not signing 1st team ready players. As I've said before though if we can get Dessers for around the 3 million mark and then sign a few younger strikers it buys them time to gain experience as Dessers takes on the main role.

Italian Journos reporting that Cremonese want €6 mil, not £6-7 mil. Also stating that rangers won't be bidding €6 mil so should closer to £4 mil or less.

Correct copland front not every signing will be trading model it can’t/ won’t be some don’t seem to understand this.

I'm hoping we take a punt on a proven goalscorer who knows the league and more importantly won't cost as much as Dessers.

Step forward. Kevin Van Veen.

Michael Olunga might be an option and he is available on a free transfer.
Impressive stats.

Relegated and he was part of it not surprised he wants to jump ship.

He looks a decent player even though his record a bit patchy i'm not sure on this one depends on the attitude of why bounces around a bit and why form so up and down.

Copland I'd be ok with 3.5 but the 6-7 million being asked for is ridiculous. if he was a couple years younger you could get away with 6-7 but for a guy approaching 29 nope!

On olunga his numbers good last couple years but wonder if he's someone chasing the money seems to bounce about Asian and African countries after small stints in Europe seems a bit aimless career wise.

In order for a player trading model to work Rangers need to be earning money from the buying and selling of player. Losing Morelos and Kent for free, and spending £7m for a 28 year old striker, isn’t the way. We’ll end up spending more money than we earn this summer.

As I said before, if we spend that amount of money on a 28 year old he MUST give us 4 quality years in order to justify that spend as we won’t make money on him. Spending that type of money should only happen if a player has sell on potential, or is of a quality we cannot normally obtain.
