Reports from Ecuador have resurfaced that we are set to sign LAFC midfielder Jose Cifuentes. Valued on transfermarket at 12m euro but only 6 months left on deal.

Rangers play a midfield 3. Cifuenres, Raskin, and Cantwell would arguably be the best midfield in the country. Supplement that with the young guy from Arsenal and we’ve upgraded massively. Let’s hope there’s truth in this.

Last weekend Cantwell played as part of the midfield 3. He was played as a central CAM, right on top of McGregor, with a license to roam around the pitch which does brilliantly. After that performance I see no reason why he would be moved out of that area or role.

Beale plays a front 3 with a CF (still to be brought in) and two wide attackers. I think it’s clear Cantwell will be part of that midfield 3, and not played out wide where it would limit his influence.

I didn’t originally like Cantwell in forward 3 because I felt he was going to be used as an LW however love him as a central 10 (free role) like against them. His pressing/ work rate/ ability is going to be a weapon for us next season with stronger players around.

Cantwell had his best game in a Rangers jersey last weekend. It’s clear he plays his best football in the centre of the pitch where he can press the opposition CDM, link play, and run beyond the strikers. He’s now got 7 goal contributions in his last 6 games and not once did he play wide left.

I don’t think Cantwell will be moved out of central midfield and stuck out wide as a replacement for Ryan Kent, no. I think we’ll sign someone to replace Ryan Kent and keep Cantwell exactly where he is.

Cifuentes will be another quality addition to our 1st team squad, along with Tom Davies, Dowell, add Hagi, Raskin and Cantwell and that's the first team midfield sorted.

Auston Trusty from Arsenal is a 24yr old American left footed CB can play LCB or RCB currently valued at 9 million for 2 million the way he has been playing that is a steal and is a good age for the squad, add Dion Sanderson (Who wolves now want to move on and are open to offers) and that's the CB gaps filled with Goldson and Souttar the other 2, 1 more LB

1 more quality GK and a solid LB to Challenge Yilmaz and we can focus on the LW/ CF/ RW positions, Love to see LW Luis Palma to Challenge Matondo and RW Solbakken to Challenge Sakala.
2-3 CF's and Beale has a solid talented squad for next seasons domestic and European assault.

Last weekend Cantwell did not play as part of a midfield three. Raskin, Jack and Lundstram all started as the midfield three. Cantwell played in advance of them in a more attacking role but if you do count that as midfield, then it was a midfield four. This freer role really suits him and his attacking abilities.

On cantwell's best position at rangers it's more central than wide for me? Cantwell is capable of playing in a few positions but i believe the central area of midfield is without question his best position but where he plays at times depends on who we're playing?More as a no.10 if we're playing teams like celtic who open up a bit and more in a midfield, central deeper role if we're trying to make things happen, to open up teams playing with the low block ?.
