Anybody hearing about planned protests against the board at Saturday's game? I'm only reading some stuff on other forums, so have no insider knowledge on this at all. Just asking!

If true I've heard it all now, protesting against the board that's secured our financial future, we all know they're not perfect, but to protest against them is madness, they've backed managers in recent years with a lot of money.

Some fans are unreal with there actions.

It looks like the UB's are behind these planned protests. Again, I'm only reading this elsewhere, but the talk is of disrupting the game. A bit like the Australian tournament protest.
There is definitely an online protest going on. The official Rangers social media sites are being targeted with Wilson and Robertson out protests.

It is shocking what some fans expect some what instant success football doesn't work like that not very regular anyway, Beale needs time to put his stamp on our club but a draw Tommorow and many more fans will want him out.

The phrase be careful what you wish for comes to mind.

A ridiculous notion to protest, in my opinion although everyone is entitled to their own, obviously.

These board members heavily invested their own funds when, as a club, we had none. They are not perfect, but are prudent and sensible custodians. Moving to a sustainable financial operating system is the right thing to do, but it takes time. These men have lent our club a fortune when they did not have to; the very least we can do is give them some time.

True, the protest i'd ridiculous. Its 12 months and 1 day too late.

i for one am so glad for having them, the alternative doesn't bear thinking about.

Is there not supposed to be two or three wealthy Scottish Businessmen hoping to take over at Ibrox. ???????????.

I agree the board have got us back to a better place but the club are not moving forward and I do suggest DP is holding us back! These protests are uncalled for?

03 mar 2023 14:29:35
newman, i'm sure there is a couple, and possibly a far eastern based guy, but they want a stream line and fit business to buy, i understand that, , imo, the board are doing exactly that,

I’d be really disappointed if the UB interrupted the game who do they think they are it’s time to get behind the team total embarrassment.

03 Mar 2023 15:10:06
Twacoos we got behind the team on Sunday and they failed miserably, as they have done for years. The time to back that squad is long gone.

15.) 03 Mar 2023
03 Mar 2023 15:11:23
This the same UB that were singing during a min applause for another’s teams owner? They are a disgrace.

Let’s put things into perspective Celtic have dropped only 5 points all season 10 better off than this stage last season. On a normal season for points Rangers would be 4 or 5 behind.
This is when we have had a record breaking injury list on the back of going all the way to the European and domestic cup finals coupled with shortest ever break due to Winter World Cup.
Injuries have no doubt played a significant part during this season.
Would a fully fit squad be top of league? No not saying that but they would be a lot closer IMO.
The board have gave us funds to strengthen in past 2 windows in particular.
Would we be baying for blood if we won a final that we lost by a single goal, don’t think we would.
You get beat you take your medicine, you grind your teeth and you go again, no surrender!

UB do not represent the fans, only themselves, but seem to have some superiority complex.

19.) 03 Mar 2023
03 Mar 2023 17:54:27
That’s all ifs and buts tho theglasgowranger. The fact is we have injuries and we are 9 points behind and we didn’t win the cup last night. You can’t say for 100% certain we still would be 9 points behind or closer if we didn’t have the injuries.

Everyone entitled to their own opinion, however I do think the fans need to get the message across that we can’t keep accepting the level of failure this board and playing staff have delivered. I would say we have been in a stable position to challenge since gerrards second season. In that time there has been 11 trophies (including this years league) to play for, we have won two of them, the same amount as st Johnstone. Celtic have won 7. They are now 3 trophies behind us in terms of overall trophies as a club. If you can’t blame the board in regards to investment (which I think you can), then you have to blame them for investing incorrectly. How can you invest 20 million into a squad that got to the EL final and won the Scottish cup and end up worse. Not selling assets when they are at their max value is again another failure. Kent and Morelos, two key members of the squad are going to leave for free, when they could have been sold for 10 million each or more at their most valuable. Other than raskin (who is excellent business), we have no assets who will fetch us 10 million plus. History will be very kind to players such as tav, kent, Morelos etc due to 55 and the EL final, but as a collective this era has been one that offered a lot without delivering on most of it.

The UB are turning into our GB. They are an embarrassment and don’t speak for all rangers fans. Mostly bunch of wee neds.

Correct blue mark, just daft wee boys that bring a bad name to our great club.

I'm not keen on the UBs at all but these guys are spending 1000s of pounds a year to follow the club home and away and like many fans they feel they ain't getting value for their money.

26.) 03 Mar 2023

I get we are not where we would all like to be. winning things. But money talks and they are ahead financially.

We need to be realistic. The only way we can compete safely is buying smart and developing out own talent.

Ranskin and Cantwell seem to fit that mould, and we are signing what appears to be talented youth.

This kind of operation will not always bear fruit and requires patience, us bears are born winners so it's hard when we are not flying high.

One things for sure, I value a healthy club over short term gains that could put us in trouble.

I personally feel that RW whilst he's not been perfect, he is doing a good job.

He's brought in some decent sales finally, and we've had some fantastic Euro runs.

It's worrying that we are likely going to have a huge turnover of players in the summer, and he's going to have a budget to work within.

I do think we should get a decent pot to play with. Especially when you look at possibly replacing/ improving on Kent and Morelos alone.

On that note, I also don't blame RW on the contract situation, can't force someone to sign a deal if they don't want to.

Yes there would have been opportunity to sell, but did we have had an offer that met our value and interesting to the player also have to weighing it up against money generated from Euro runs etc.

Could the board of done better of course but they could of done a lot lot worse the board gets pass marks from me.

03 Mar 2023 21:34:17
Tjrfc; the time has never gone to get behind the team, yes the result on Sunday wasn’t what we wanted or the way we played especially first half acceptable but Beale came in nine points behind and we’re still nine he’s had one transfer window and we all know a Jan transfer window is not the best, I’m not happy with the recruitment over the last three or four windows but we have to give Beale a chance you can’t start protesting now that will not help the team on the park, I’ve seen reports they intend to disrupt the game total embarrassment they don’t speak for the majority.

29.) 03 Mar 2023
03 Mar 2023 21:41:52
Storm, that was far more than the UBs. There's at most 1k that sit with the UBs, that was at least half our allocation singing over that. Call the rest out as well.

04 Mar 2023 09:27:17
TJ i would say it wasn’t but there you go.

Sweep, I don’t care what the UB do or spend and it’s not always about what you say they just always cause trouble and they start the songs home and away some say and they sing the banned songs they are a disgrace.

I don't condone many of the things that the Union Bears do but they are correct when they say that the Supporters are being short changed as a result of the poor performances and inadequate quality of players signed over the past few seasons.
Everyone that has invested in the Club to get us back to where we are must be congratulated, the ordinary fans as well as those that have invested £millions and a large amount of that praise must go to Dave King.
We move on however and in Scotland if you don't win the league you are a failure and as such we have been a failure too often in the recent past. Much of that is down to poor signings and that isn't all down to money, (although money certainly helps) .
In the early days of Stephen Gerrard's reign we made some excellent signings, players like McGregor and Davis, players that were born winners and knew Rangers. Others followed, (and yes there were some howlers as well) . Unfortunately since Wilson arrived we have seen few quality players come in the door and those that have generally didn't stay long before being sold! Others have been good players but with poor injury histories and an assortment of inferior players also acquired. Wilson's main remit from his Chairman has clearly been to find good young players that can be sold on quickly at a profit. I would suggest that as a Club we need to decide whether we want to follow this model and accept being second best or whether we ant to get back to consistently winning leagues. Personally I believe that they are mutually exclusive.

2nd best will never be enough at Rangers. I'm fully backing this protest.

35.) 04 Mar 2023
04 Mar 2023 12:48:32
You pay your money you have your say that's how it works, yes Wilson has found a few players but he's found some right losers. The manager should identify the players and people like Wilson should act like secretaries.

36.) 04 Mar 2023
04 Mar 2023 17:20:54
Sweep who on here says 2nd best is enough? Take another break come back on when we get put out the scottish cup to suit your narrative.

The union bear are also abusing the my Gers ticketing and it needs to be scrapped.

Storm i wonder if sweep will appear on here if Rangers start playing wonderful football and win our 56 title next season I believe that is very doubtful.

The banners made it clear who the fans are blaing with fingers pointed at Wilson and Robertson. While Wilson has some sympathy I really do struggle to see what Robertson does. Everything is more about Robertson and is own personal PR than the Club.
Perhaps before we look at new players we do need to look higher up the structure. Looking at our acquisitions the majority have been abysmal but either the current Board needs to back Beale with a significant budget to bring in better players while getting rid of those players that for an array of reasons will never truly challenge Celtic for the League.

Is that totally down to Wilson, well while he does need to take some of the blame, Parks as Chairman must carry the bulk of the blame.

Yes, along with King he was one of those that helped our initial recovery, and we shouldn't forget the support that has consistently played their part both in the initial share purchase and in the continuing way that they put their hands in their pockets to buy Club merchandise and consistently support the team.

As Chairman, Parks is the custodian of the Club and as such it is incumbent on him to secure success, (as others have done), or to pass the reigns over to someone else that can.

From what I am seeing he is more like the guy with the Boys Club team where his son plays every game rather than putting the Club first.

BB whilst i agree with a lot of what you have said, i keep reading about this major rebuild that will take place and moving all these players on that aren't performing.

Other than the players who are out of contract, we can't just 'get rid' of players who have contracts. To do that the following is required;

1. They must want to go
2. There must be a buyer
3. If the above doesn't happen we must make them an offer to settle up their contract early.

If we do #3, that will severely hinder our budget to bring in new players.

There's no silver bullet to fix this issue.
