Rangers youngster Ryan Hardie has also joined St Mirren on loan deal. I personally really rate young Hardie and think he hasn't had that much of a chance (meaning game time for Rangers) but expect this to change next year once Miller hangs up his boots or is not offered a new contract, i personally think he could be a great player given a run in the first team in future, What is other gers opinions on this?

Depends who the new striker is? i think he will be in the squad next season if he does well at st mirren but look what the manager has done in just over a year! hardie was out in charleston so he's obviously not good enough just now or would still be here.

Yes agree Alex 1972, I was hoping to see the lad in these LC matches or against Burnley. He made a real impact and scored goals whilst on loan at Raith last season and I thought he was ready. Slightly confused that MW has expressed slightly negative view of the experience youngsters get on loan to SC compared to English Championship and Division 1, then we immediately made 2 loans to St Mirren. Assume we have agreement on game time will receive at St Mirren, and in Alex Rae I am sure will receive active support and development. Believe Hardie has great future at Gers.

He's brutal. He's another player who will end up playing in the lower leagues, maybe at best get a full time contract at a championship club but that's as far as he'll go, a bit like your Ross Perrys and Robbie Crawfords.

Brutal? Hahhahahaha get a grip mate, he is still a young man with bags of talent, he needs game time which he will get at St Mirren.

Didn't Jordan Thompson play against Burnley last season?

He was no where near the starting eleven last season. Would love Hardie to make it at our club but like our midfield this year, there'll be competition for that striker position next season, with Waghorn, Dodoo, this season's New striker and a new striker to replace Miller.

Adam and mcgregor are prime examples of biding your time, take your chance when u get it. But our youth will not get a look in as long as we sign youngsters from down south.

Adam never really done much at rangers really was average at best but moved to Blackpool for peanuts then it all went well after that for the lad.

I think sending Hardie back in to Championship for initial 6 month spell will be good move for club and player.
The jurys still out on his ability he's looked lively and may well be a 1st team regular in future but he may also be just a championship or bottom half SPFL player so giving him a longer term loan deal and 20 appearances with St Mirren might give us all a better indication of his ability.
If he bangs in the goals then we can recall him for 2nd half of season if not we can extend the loan till end of the season and reassess our options.
Good luck to him anyway I think he will manage 10-12 goals for St Mirren if he gets a run in the side up until xmas.

When we are signing young players of the quality of Rossiter etc., they really are a class up from the young Scottish players that have been on our books. That said if they are good enough I am sure that they will get their chance to prove themselves but they need to show that they have all the correct characteristics. Maybe going forward the Warburton era will provide us with the best young players in Scotland since the days of Durrant and ferguson!

@albertz
There's a reason why our youth won't get a lookin as long as we keep signing from down south the players down south are over a better quality

MW thankfully wants to change that and he is starting by having teams from as young as 10 in our youth academy so now we're back to bringiotjrough proper youth and not just teens we might end up with Ferguson Adam Hutton Scott Brown and halliday.

I think he has a bit on an attitude problem just like Andy Murdoch, ie thinking they are better than they are, and to be honest Hardie gives me the creeps.

Yes, not as good as we had anticipated even at this early stage.

He is 19 years old, and has undoubted talent. Only the absolute best players these days come into the first team and look good at that age. Most players you don't seem to see them progress and really show their capabilities until they reach 22/ 23 years old. This is the problem with us and young players in the past, we don't see them instantly become first team players by the age of 20/ 21 so we let them go, which has burned us on a few occasions.

I say we keep players like Hardie, loaning them out or even selling them with a buy back clause the way teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid do, then that way when they are truly ready for first team football and showing what they are capable of, we will begin to see the benefits.

For me it is just a physical strength thing with Hardie, he has plenty of ability but can't show it off yet because he still has to develop physically.

Was ruined by Walters desperation to win as many titles as possible, without really caring about style, David weir says Adam was fabulous when he played with him
