Was talking to a friend with top connections today and he told me that Clement has submitted an initial list of 4 names that he would like to bring in in the January window. He told me that the list included a starting LB and that Barisic will be sold in January. They're hoping he signs a new deal to increase the fee but will be away either way.

u said months ago a new cb had agreed terms to come in january, hiwever with the changes made i don't know if that arrangement is still in place, i'm sure there will be movement though.

My guess would be LB, CB, CF and possibly a no nonsense sitting CM.
Personally I don't think Barisic has the character or the fitness to be our starting LB. I like Souttar, Davies and Goldson but I'd like us to go out and bring in a solid CB. Someone that can defend, dominate in the air and comfortable with the ball at there feet. Wee bit of pace would be icing on the cake. We need a midfield general that will put his foot in protecting the back 4 but also cam control a game. Up front Roofe is excellent finisher but never fit long enough to be effective, Dessers has started slowly but I think he has quality, same with Danilo. Lammers is great technically but just doesn't have that goal threat. We need another Morelos, a player that will bully CBs, hold the ball up to link up with the midfield, wee bit of pace and top quality finisher.

One of my sources have told me Barisic isn’t signing a new contract he wants to leave. If the club can get a decent fee in Jan that they can use to replace him they will but my source reckons he will be here till the summer then leave for nothing

Personally I don’t see the logic in this. Imo we should’ve sold him when we knew he wasn’t staying but this is a criticism I have held for us for a while. Players tell us they aren’t resigning and rather selling them for the millions we let them go for a free because we have (and probably will) regard 6/ 12 months of their service on the field is worth more than a couple of million in a transfer fee.

Personally I cannot wait to see the back of Barisic, he is nothing but a decent delivery of the ball that has the belief he’s destined for bigger leagues. That’s not getting me started on his “phantom injuries” by the way.

Rangers Football Club will be in a better situation when Barisic finally leaves. That I put whatever little reputation I have on this site on.

Agree Iheard. BB must go i have complete apathy for him. Annoys the life out of me. Problem is Yilmaz constantly injured we keep seeing flashes from him then he's out.

The fact that Barisic and for that matter, Lundstram, are still here and have not signed new contracts, (just like the Morelos and Kent situation), is as much the fault of the Board that was in place at the time as it is the players, possibly even more so.
The time to have taken stock of where we were was when we won the league and for me that should have been a time when we either gave out new contracts or sold when their stock was high and we should then have replaced them and brought in the players that Gerrard wanted.
We didn't and as a result we have gone backwards.

First time poster but I’m curious about this. Man city don't give more than a 1 year deal to anyone 30+ but Rangers are happy to give 31 yo Tav a 4 year desl, Goldson at 30 a 4 year deal. You have posters who want to give wasters like lundstram and Borna a new deal. This is a massive problem and hamstrings rangers massively as these guys are our biggest earners. Tavs pace has gone, Goldson looks like he’s lost a bit, crazy to hand out multi years to guys that age. there's no resale value and that's what we need to think about as that's the long term sustainability of the club that affects.

Chopper, you can't really compare us to Man City! We shop in Poundland, not Selfridges or Harrods. We simply need to be more on the ball with our acquisitions and target to bring in quality young players that can develop. With a few quality 'old heads' and a number of young up and coming young players we should still be able to win the SPL and progress in Europe.
Our problem over a number of years is the quality of our Scouting. It has improved in terms of youngsters but still has a long way to go and in terms of scouting quality players it has been pretty poor for too long.
Unless we secure a to quality DoF, I sadly don't see it changing.

Don’t think he’s comparing us to Man City Berkshire… he’s mearly pointing out that their very basic business sense when offering players over 30 ridiculous new contracts is far better than ours. Nobody I repeat nobody wanted Goldson or even showed any interest in him (cause he’s slow, weak and when he jumps ye couldn’t get a fiver under his giant feet) but we offer him 4 years on more money … couldn’t actually make that up ?‍?.
