Think 2.5 is good enough given he wouldn’t be a starter and it’s more than what we paid for him. He scored the goal to get us into the champions league so overall has been a signing that’s made us a decent bit of cash despite him not quite fitting into the style required to play for rangers.

I appreciate that Transfermarkt valuations are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but surely they don't just make these numbers up. They must have some sort of a formula to calculate them (or they get them from another source) .

Is it sites like Transfermarkt that are the reason why a lot of people think we undervalue our players?

Colak is potentially going for 2.5m and that site reckons he's valued at 4.5m.

Honestly don't get when people say he didn't fit into style had 11 games under Beale only and some of them where sub appearances coming back from injury.

I think we could regret letting him go cheap unless we have a decent sell on of course.

There will be a formula probably based wholly on stats which obviously can’t take the intangibles into account which will heavily impact the fee in real life.

Let’s not forget Celtic only got what like 3/ 4m for Giakoumakis who was a far better player than Colak. 2.5m is a decent fee and I think we should take it.

Gofor it isn't his ability to put the ball in the net that fans and coaches question its his lack of ability outside the penalty box. The side of the game Morelos did so well. I never saw Colak bully and defenders. Never saw any fear of the guy from full backs or CBs. The 2 we brought in in Lammers and Dessers both are strong outside the box as well as being strong finishers, Danilo looks to be of the same mould.

Verdant not being flippant but how much do we know about dessers and danilo are both a punt and could go wrong colak scores goals and roofe is a v good player when fit does anyone really know if these guys are an upgrade?

@55Rangers - Do you think Beale is just picking names at random and signing them? Heks been scouting these guys, and meeting them in person, for some time. Beale said he was after Lammers years ago when Gerrard was still here. He knows Sima from the time Rangers played Slavia Prague. Dessers and Butland said they had been aware of Rangers internet in the background for years.

What we know about Colak is that he's a penalty box striker and that’s not how this team is going to play. Modern teams press from the front, with line strikers capable of holding up the ball, dropping deep and linking play, etc. Colak can none of that.

Definitely agree with what u are saying but I just don't get the huge hype so far because unless we've followed these guys careers how do we know as fans other than highlights most on here said the same about every other player coming in as nearly a fact and some have not made the grade.

For whatever reason the manager didn’t want Colak.
Saw that last season when he was fit also.
No point him sitting on the bench when he’s a selling asset.
Made a wee bit of profit so put that towards a fee for a striker that he likes. And we move on.

Ger58 it’s not as simple as you are looking at it. Colak is avg. a great lad but not mobile and has a poor first touch, also doesn’t improvise. It’s not just about hitting the back net. To have Colaks goals the team doesn’t work as well. Much more to it.

He is not hood enough or fit the system.

@55rangers - Beale has followed their careers. He’s known guys like Dowell and Sterling since they were kids. We are just punters on the outside looking in. Our knowledge of the game is nothing like Beale’s. He’s the manager, he has the knowledge, in him we trust. He lives and dies by his decisions. That’s how this whole thing works.

I trust, Beale. I think he's a great coach. He has an eye for a player, and he knows modern day tactics. If he thinks we’re better off with Colak out the club that’s good enough for me. Use the money to get other guys in.

Fair enough verdant it's just a shame liked the big man and soft spot for roofe even though he's never fit. Hope the new signings are the next level for us and will get behind them when they pull on the shirt.
