This team ufa are no mugs . zenit really struggled against them and by all accounts ufa played them off the park even though they lost. We need to be wary.

Marco C, marathons and football are not the same. One is low in intensity and the latter is high, not to mention there is physical contact with a competitor in football and poses a lot more risk to injury of joints etc.

The players also train midweek which involves high intensity training in various forms, including contact with team mates in training games.

Not saying marathons are easy, far from it, but its completely wrong to compare the two, they are in different ends of the spectrum.

The fitness might be there but the mental aspect will diminish, this is what most folk fail to realize. i'm in no way a professional footballer but i played 5's 3-4 times a week by the Friday i wasn't worth a f*** so imagine their intesity, training, expenditure during games and a mountain of travelling is a million times worse.

As far as I am aware if the Russians don’t get visas the tie is awarded to the home team as a 3.0 victory with the second leg still to play . ? Do you know if this Is right ED.

Yea have checked it and as far as I can see justvthe one game forfeit at a 3.0 score . UEFA gave the option to ban them from a he competition but that is only in extreme cases.

{Ed001's Note - you would think they would make an exception in this case due to the circumstances. The UK is making it extremely difficult for Russian nationals to get a visa currently, so it is not 100% the fault of the football club at all if they are unable to get the necessary documentation. I would expect them to appeal any decision along those lines and CAS is likely to back them.}
