I reckon it's only a matter of time with gio departing. So I thought I would give my thoughts on how we go forward.

Firstly, we need a style of play that can enhance the players we have as well as a manager that is able to hold the squad to account.

I believe this the reason gerrard got the time he did. His style of play was evident to see but he also had aura around him which meant the players believed in him.

I don't believe Gio has a locked in style of play, and there is no question in regards to aura, as most fans will say that his pressers are rather boring.

I would thank Alfie, kent and kamara for there service and try and get a bit of a kitty for the new manager, even if that is around 6-8 million for all three in January.

With that money and maybe an extra 2-3 million coming from the board, we could recruit two wingers, centre midfielder and another striker.

I would ask Bournemouth the asking price for dembele to see if he is in our range. I would also try and get mcburnie on a pre contract (is he amazing? No, but he would do a job in the spfl), I would look at John brooks from benfica as I'm sure he is coming to the end of his contract and he is quite commanding as a CB.

I am unsure on his wages, but Josh Onomah from Fulham has a spark in him that I believe would work well up here.

Luke Amos from QPR would be a great buy as well. I think he will have 18 months left on his contract come January so I think a good deal could be had.

I would also enquire about Chris cadden as back up for tav.

I haven't covered every player who is worth a look at, but these are only suggestions that are worth a watch if available.

Let me know what you think guys, just trying to change the topic as I know we are all a bit beleaguered at the minute.

Incidentally Davostan, who would you want to replace gio as our new manager mate ?.

I don’t think it’s a back up for tavernier we need!
We are not in a position to be signing back up players to warm the bench. We need starters.

Tough one Walter, if you put me on the spot, I would maybe enquire about the wages for Bruno lags (former wolves) . But I reckon he would be too expensive. I really liked Nathan Jones, but he is away to Southampton. All the names linked don’t excite me to much.

Three I would like to see how they set us up would be
Adi Hutter
Chris wilder
Di Francesco

None of those three are likely, but that’s more because the board have zero imagination.

And bgate, the reason our captain has been below par this year is because he is clearly playing through an injury, an able deputy would have resolved this problem. Once a team starts carrying injured players the system collapses.

Lost you at mcburnie he’s a waste of a jersey.

Davo I would prefer any signing to be an upgrade. That’s the way it should be.

Going by your figures 6-8 mill for our three players then 2-3 mill from the board so transfer kitty 8-11 mill the list of players you gave that fee wouldn’t cover that lot, plus 3/ 5 mill to get rid of Gio and his team then find another manager if he’s in contract we need to buy him out or we find a manager out of work, it’s going to take some sorting out and there is more than Gio to blame for the mess we have landed in.

he shouldn't be playing through any injury that makes him play so poorly, not ever, that's ok for a game or two when you know its the best remedy, absolutely not whaen it causes you to be so bad, il say again watching any player casually lobbing over corner after corner to opposing defenders to lap up is shockingly poor

at some ponit you have to ask yourself if your the right person who should be taking them

when was te last rangers winger to tak a corner.

We've got 5 weeks to get as many back as possible. The ones I want back if we can't get them all is Lawrence, Ridvan, Colak and any CBs. We need some forward drive from midfield which Lawrence gives. Straight down the middle instead of constantly out wide with a hopeful cross into the box. Ridvan has a great touch and always seems to look for the positive option. Balls in the box to Colaks feet and Lawrence having a dig from outside. Take King out of the firing line with Goldson and Davies in the middle. Just a thought chaps.

We still need a back up if tav gets hurt.

Davostan, do you not rate knutsen, beale etc mate ?.

Agree Bassey, but that's for the window.

Bassey I understand the skepticism on mcburnie, but I reckon in Scotland he would be a decent enough option to have.

Twacoos, pretty sure brooks and mcburnie would be entering last 6 months so pre contract would be in play. But yeah I doubt we would be able to afford an overhaul in January, maybe just strengthen in key areas.

Walter, it’s not that I don’t rate Beale and Knutsen, it’s just I haven’t seen knutsen enough to judge fairly. As for Beale, I doubt we will have the money to pay out his contract

Thanks for the debate on this post though guys, all great opinions.

Don’t know how anyone can rate Beale as a manager he has done nothing so far not even half way thru the season coops but would take the other you mentioned.
