i read something earlier about how the manager needs to rip up the current formation and go to a 4-4-2 system. I think the current system works and it's been proved all across Europe it works it's just that we've not implemented it properly.
We sit off teams far to much and give them too much room first of all. We need a manager that can drill into the team about pressing high and in packs.
Second of all we are FAR to laboured in our possession, wherever I watch is our back line takes about 4 or 5 touches before playing the ball out which gives the opposition too much time to re group. We need a bit more zip to our play.
Thirdly, we can still play narrow wingers but with pace. Our no9 occupies the back line of the other team and drops a little allowing our wingers to attack the space in behind. This is another thing we don't do well enough. The current system works well when drilled properly it's just the fact that our last few managers haven't been the standard required to put it into practice.

Its definitely majority of teams preferred systems. Just unfortunate our current crop don't have the ability to carry it out.

Don’t think it’s the system that makes the players play back and sideways. It’s the players with the manager gio and beal and now stevo not strong enough to demand different.
Angie would throw things at white board when team didn’t get forward .
Saw beal screaming at them too but if he didn’t discipline them later they are always going to take the easy pass . especially tav and Bonna
Did notice a slight improvement on Sunday but it was slight .
They are scared to take chances because of getting berate if a mistake. Cifu going that way too luny was a bit better Sunday.

I totally disagree our system is honking, hate one up top with an absolute passion, leaves our strikers far to isolated, far too much emphasis on our full / wing backs.

Beale has sucked the energy out the team . Whatever system we play we need to up the tempo, press higher up and more energetically and get some width in the January window . Another striker would be a plus too. If we are going to continue to expect our full backs to be our main creators wide, then we need to set up to protect them, on transition.

Our strikers are left far too isolated because our coaching staff haven't implemented the tactics properly. The system that we have has been proven to work at a lot of top level clubs. A true number 9 is very hard to come by these days, most front men play a sort of false 9 role that drops in and hovers between the lines (drawing the opposition centre backs out of position) allowing the wingers to attack the space In behind. Out of possession we don't close down with enough intensity. A lot of times this season I see us with 10 bodies our side of the half way line which isn't good enough. We should be hunting in packs and forcing mistakes from the opposition especially in the domestic league. This system works defensively by forcing the other team to make a mistake in which we quickly capitalise on. Less of this 4 or 5 touches of the ball before making a sideways pass. Take it back to basics, touch then move the ball on quickly and decisively. There's so many simple things we don't do well enough.
