Some good posts tonight re the expectations for us in our first season back in spl. I believe we will improve year in year out, however it will still be another few years before we are challenging . So let's stop wanting the manager sacked after 6 games into the season . Ok he's made a few mistakes, however in my opinion he has done far more right than wrong since he joined the club and the fans need to get behind the manager and the players! Then we will see steady improvement and a good run of games where we are winning and winning comfortably.

Let's also not forget that Celtic panicked after we beat them in last season's semi final, it was well documented that Dermot Desmond was enraged by the celebrations from the Rangers hierarchy after we won and as a result went and got Rodgers and subsequently spend big money on Sinclair and snapped up Dembele and Toure who will be on decent money.

For me this was as clear an indication that Celtic knew they were not as far ahead of us as the should have been given our recent troubles. Credit goes to Mark Warburton for that by the way. When the likes of Wanyama, Van Dijk and Forster were being sold for big money it was ringfenced and never really re invested. Delia was an experiment that went wrong for them and honestly I think they lost about 2-3 years in terms of progress. So with all that being said, I actually believe the gap isn't as big as Saturdays result indicated. This season is all about consolidation, top 4 finish would be great with some good results against Aberdeen and Hearts along the way to set us up for a bigger push the following season.

Just listened to joey Barton interview on talk sport and I personally think he has got the club to heart and a few home truths have wound certain players up and I've got loads of respect for MW but I think what he's done to Barton has put more pressure on the club it should of been left on the training grounday. Well said Djab.

Lost about 2-3 years of progress? Where could they progress too? If u can win the league without spending big then why bother? Imo it was sensible of them to do what they done. Aberdeen gave Celtic a bigger challenge last season than we will this season. We have the potential with some good young players, but until they are played in a position they can play in and we change strategy, teams know what to expect and won't even need to scout us before they play us.
