We’ve been talking about the squad going stale and in need of a refresh since Gerrard was here. If we give contracts to Arfield, Jack, and Davis, I’ll be completely disillusioned as a fan. We’re going to keep these 3 in the heart of our midfield until the summer of 2024? Not for me.

There are 7 players out of contract in the summer: Helander, Arfield, Jack, Davis, Morelos, McGregor, and Kent. Keeping Kent and Morelos makes sense because they can still be sold for a considerable amount of money at some point in the future - The rest can go. The rest should go, and we should be using the wages we free up, and squad space, to get fresh faces in.

We already have Lundstrum and Kamara under contract for next season. We should be getting Raskin on a pre-contract. We have McCann and McKinnon breaking through the youth ranks. We don’t need Davis, Arfield, and Jack next year - We really don’t.

From a strictly 'playing time' point of view - I'd rather we didn't renew McGregor, Davis, Jack, Hellander or Arfields deals.

However, we cannot underestimate how important experienced players are in terms of setting and maintaining the standards at our club.

So for me the ideal situation would be to see McGregor and Davis move on to coaching roles and Arfield and Jack sign extensions.

Lads, I think we're nearly all in agreement that Davies could be offered a coaching role, however he may feel he wants to play another season if he beats this injury. That should not be at Rangers in my opinion. Much as he would be a good role model, especially for younger players, I honestly can't think the same of McGregor. Offering contracts for the sake of it is no use.

With Davis it's OK Beale saying he has 18 months left in him but no one has a clue how he will recover from his injury. He comes back strong I'd take another year. He can still control a game better than any player we have.

Davis has been a great servant but no he should not get a new deal the same with the majority that’s out of contract only one I would keep other than kent and Alfredo if they were willing to sign would be arfield as he is a good sub.

This squad needs serious investment you only have to look who was playing last time we won at Celtic park how little the team has changed if your not changing and improving your going to fail. I'd already be looking to move some players on this window but I doubt we will even sign anyone and if we do it will prob be a predictable lower English league free or last year deal that nobody else wants.
