As I stated last night.

The club does not have the disposable cash available many think contrary to popular belief.

£7m was the agreed out of court settlement to SDI.

£10m is the total cost of Nee Edminston House, club had paused the development back in February as more finance was needed to be freed up for this. £10m will obviously pay itself back in time however this is £10m over 2020/ 21 and 2021/ 22 accounts so that’s money not available to the playing team.

Roofe and Hagi instalments were staggered, £2m was paid out of this years budget for both.

£10m has been ring fenced for Tillman and Sands loans for be made permanent at this season end.

Development and refurb of hospitality suites is substantial cost, estimated to be around £3m, again like New Edminston House, club will reap the rewards in years to come.

It’s a case of short term pain, long term gain.

The board have put their money in, they wanted to hit significant milestones;

55
Domestic Cup
Champions league

All 3 have now been reached and the board are now satisfied with this. Long term self sustainability is the next goal. This will require either UCL qualification or a significant player sale each season.

With the losses over the past few seasons much due to C.V., both were required this season.

Without one of UCL or a significant player sale this season, a loan would need to have been taken out to pay of current liabilities. That loan would need to have been paid back at market interest rates due to the current financial climate. The fact is, this is now not needed. The club is on a stable financial footing.

We’ve plenty of cash mate and are sitting in a great position financially, we didn’t need to sign anybody yesterday as our business was done early.

RFC what would have been the clubs position if we did have the extended run to the Europa league final and then made the champions league and sold Bassey aribo and patterson? If we don't have any money to spend then i fear the club is being run into the ground AGAIN!

Our team is not good enough to win the title from the east end team who no matter what colour your glasses are have enhanced a squad that was already better than ours.

Well am pretty sure nobody actually cares about the blue sky lounge. I for one know that 99.9% of us will never be in it never watch a game in there as the prices are absolutely ridiculous for it. I’m sure a lot would agree as well that the 3 million pounds spent on it would be better invested in a 3 million pound player to develop to sell further down the line. And as for a player sale? Not a player in that team will fetch anything over 10 million apart from Kamara at a push. Kent is now basically worthless to us unless he signs a new deal. A don’t know if anybody else feels the same but the museum and hospitality upgrades I’d rather have the money invested in the playing squad. Trying to get into the museum on a match day will be hellish!

Good post RFC, most don't look below the surface. This is a business with complicated outgoings, the board have done very well, and we have an excellent squad for this season.

Blue start lounge will take plenty of cash in for the club it’s a investment that will last years longer than the sale of a player ever will.

02 Sep 2022 07:10:31
Nonsense. Nobody left on last day of window and therefore no need for anyone to come in. It was expected Kamara would leave and need to be replaced but he was happy to stay.

It's amazing to think people on here think Ashley walked away with under a million. Hahaha.

To the fans saying we are not good enough to beat celtic to the league, shame on you. Get behind the team and stop having a pop at our club.

Total expenditure for all of the above is £32m that is covered by the sale of Bassey alone.

02 Sep 2022 07:52:21
Jim27 it's just an opinion and right now I'm not convinced we have a squad that can and I'm talking about who are available right now No just being honest we really needed everyone Available and at the top of their game they have strengthened even right up to the final hours a win tomorrow and the players gain confidence GIO needs to get them Fired up.

02 Sep 2022 08:33:39
Really 2blue. How much did Bassey go for again? Think you will find it’s a lot less than 32m.

13.) 02 Sep 2022
02 Sep 2022 08:49:56
2blue we didn’t make 32 million of the sale of Bassey.

14.) 02 Sep 2022
02 Sep 2022 08:49:57
2Blue am I missing something? Bassey alone covering the £32M. Please explain the figures.

Will be extremely shocked if this years accounts don't show 20 mill +.

Gee-WATP, the clubs position would have been the board would probably have dug into their own pockets to balance things off, as they been doing for some time. To say we are being run into the ground by the board is absolutely wild. They have been the safety net for us since Gerrard came in, we've been running at a loss trying to get back to the top and they are the ones that have covered the costs for it.

With all the money we've accumulated in the last year we are probably getting back into a position were we are self sustainable. We have invested in facilities that will reap huge financial benefits to the club in future to allow that sustainability to continue. We've also added a load of young talent that will have a good chance of future profit using the player trading model, while at the same time, still being able to compete.

I get people wanted a 'marquee' signing but the playing squad is more than good enough to compete. Losing Bassey was a blow but he's went for £20+ Million. Even with £200m in the bank, you won't attract a £20m player to the SPFL to replace him, its now about unearthing the next Bassey. Aribo has left, but this is the same Aribo everyone was slating last year for a massive dip in form. You've lost Aribo and now have 2 players to fill that void in Tillman and lawrence and so far they look great!

At CH we are light at the moment due to a couple having issues but once back available we have good options there. If it means someone Like Leon King gets some game time until the 1st choice guys are back available then i am more than happy with that. What do you do with 6 1st team centre halfs when they are all back? Playing someone like King is better for me than splashing out on another player for a short term fix.

Keep the faith, we are in a good place.

02 Sep 2022 09:24:28
Well I thought it was a good post RFC with plenty of good info ?

Still feel we’re light in a few places and I mean by that if certain players injured there’s some players who are not good enough to cover there positions especially against the better opposition so we may have over 30 players but not all have the ability to cover the main core of any main core players are out which leaves us light and weakens the team

I would have liked and hoped to see a couple came in yesterday but hey it’s done now
So let’s see how the first half of the season unfolds.

18.) 02 Sep 2022
02 Sep 2022 09:28:15
2blue, we got 19 million rising to 22.7 million with add ons for Bassey. Where are you getting your figures from.

19.) 02 Sep 2022
02 Sep 2022 09:31:08
Paul - i think that is wishful thinking - once Ashley and any payments to soft loans are made. we should make a small profit for the first time in years, but you can't blame the guys who got us here for wanting some payback.
we are setting foundations here (& yes I get frustrated with some results as well) but if we have another year or 2 in the same vein as this past 12 months - we will be operating at a different level - even compared to now.

RFC, very good post but unfortunately I fear some people on hear just don’t understand the business side of things and the huge costs of running and servicing an institution the size of rangers. They just think ‘we made so much from sale of player A, B, C’ (not even taking into account that a lot of that will be staggered and not up front) and then listen to how much the tabloids state we will make from the champs league and therefore think we should spend all of that on new players. They don’t take into account all the costs you have outlined, never mind wages, and I don’t just mean first team players wages, I mean all the coaching and back room staff, all the B team and under 18 and woman’s teams players and staff, and all the other employees the club has just to operate as a business. None of that is taken into consideration. Not to mention that we have been running at a loss (very large losses) every year since demotion except last year, with soft loans being required to keep the club going. And when anyone tries to point that out to them they just state it’s nonsense. Finally we are at least now turning a profit but we can’t just throw all of that back at players and wages like we did in the David Murray era, remember how that turned out?

21.) 02 Sep 2022
02 Sep 2022 09:58:17
We can't afford to spend all the money we’ve made from sales and ucl qual, i'd even argue half of it! Look back at our accounts released over the past few years; even with C.V. relaxations we’d be blocked out of european competitions next season on ffp. We ain't man city, we can't afford to pay for a country’s legal team to get us off on a technicality.

22.) 02 Sep 2022
02 Sep 2022 11:05:43
Your talking nonsense.

The Ashley fee isn’t £7m. Edmiston house isn’t as much as that.

The Tillman and Sands total cost would be £10m but given that amount would be spread over 3/ 4 years there would be no need to ring fence that from current accounts.

Firstly rfc, fruitbear and others, i read with great interest your posts, i think we can all agree we've been very fortunate in recent times, to have a board prepared to give us soft loans, rather than loans secured on ibrox park or auchenhowie etc as was the case with Ashley, those Ashley loans are the very things that would have put a sports direct sign up where our famous name still stands, thankfully those days are gone now, our new business model will prevail, which imo is Dave Vos we trust, he is the conduit that will connect a team with b team, this for me is a Graeme souness moment like 86,at the beginning of the window we went out and scouted some of the best talent around, i'm not tactician, however i'm not fool and i genuinely think we must sit back and let our management team get on with there business and is the supporters get on with ours and support our team manager, board and rangers family, namaste my brothers and here's to a great and successful season .

Settle down lads, we need to pay the bills. Has no one been looking at last 5 years accounts. We were in more debt than Africa. 120 million plus in losses.
It will take us another 3 years to be run properly and the way it should be. Directors cannot keep going into their pockets for bish bash dosh.

Laughing at galston loyal comment. ?. Doesn’t care about sky lounge and will never be in it ?that’s because your not going to be there after stating if we didn’t sign anyone you wouldn’t be at ibrox. ??.

Copland, your usually on the ball with stuff, do you know how much Tillman would cost? I had heard as little as £1.8m on top
Of the £500k we paid for the loan?
If I’m reading you post correctly your suggesting £5m? I’m not challenging your number, I was questioning if you know with a fair amount of certainty that it’s £5m or if it’s a best guess estimate?

Cheers.
