Found out yesterday on a ranger's fb page that PC's old club Monaco is third on the world list for sales of its own players in the last 10 years. 1.09 billion euros. Maybe this is why koppens, and specifically clement was snagged and retained?

Think we just have to be patient and trust the process. I think majority of players brought in make us money in time. on that point tho I still think we need a balance of youth and experience to challenge for the title.

Koppen has been brought in to try and mirror the PSV model. They were years in shadow of Ajax now completely dominate. Whether or not he can do that or not is a different question.

We have been falling down the abyss for many years and many on here want instant fixes. the club needs to start to be run like a true multimillion business and only then will we see real progress on the pitch - time will tell unless the pitchfork brigade get their way and demand yet another change of coaching staff?.

Stop trying to dress koppen up as if he's this miracle worker and trying to do things that haven't been done before!
We just need to first and foremost have the right manager, then get the right profile of player for domestic football then sell them after they do well for us and that won't be all of them because some will be at a later age.
There's no other scientific way but we need the right coach in charge and clement doesn't and never will be that for Scottish football just like he wasn't for French football.
We need a manager who knows how to win games of football in Scottish football and then we go from there.

Posters were on here saying Clement was bound to fail at Monaco after having to sell his top talent. Conveniently forgetting he signed 3 players for $45 million.
Now some are bigging him up for helping sell these top talent.
Personally I would prefer a manager who is competitive whilst selling these talents, bringing on the next batch of talent and not blaming ever6 ba£ result on a rebuild.

We will only see real progress on the park when we have a manager who is tactically astute and we start to spend wisely on players and stop wasting millions on players not suited to our game.

On reflection my point isn't that strong before someone calls it out but you get what I mean. Dutch footballing success is built on successful player trading be that Ajax or PSV.

A lot of what's wrong but no constructive solutions. Who do we bring into to replace? Only person I can think of is Muscat. Successful, knows Rangers, plays attacking football. Style would put our players in the window.

Storm - It is taken that we all want us to do better in Scotland, but there needs to be a balance too as winning the league hopefully takes us to Europe Top table, but no point being whipping boys when we get there as that can have a negative effect on team building and morale equally ?.

I think you'll find Paul Mitchell oversaw ALL transfer activity when PC was at Monaco. PC had nothing to do with transfers in the slightest, he had no say in who was sold or bought, his job was to play with the squad he was given.

Can't help but feel PC is the scapegoat here! Could the results have been more consistent? Of course they could! Has PC had one hand tied behind his back? Clearly.
The fact of the matter is no matter how much the (what I hope is the minority) want, he is doing a good job when the hand that he has been dealt isn't great.
Has there been missteps? Of course there has. Will there be more? Almost certainly.
I remember when this club (my club and yours) were banished to the bottom of the Scottish game. What we all did was extraordinary. We backed the team 100% and followed them everywhere. Dumbarton - done it. Stirling - done it!
I would love nothing more than a Sir Walter Smith figure to come in and change things the way he did, but people like that are not breaking down the door to come into the club. I'm not even sure that calibre of person exits anymore.
The reality is we have been sold a pup, and certain managers have defied expectations! A European cup final - one penalty away - was outrageous. It probably fuelled unhelpful expectation, especially for a club that shouldn't be anywhere near that sort or event based on squad value and capability.
I'm a bluenose through and through. I believe we should be the best of the best, but cycling through managers (and the process they have been hired to execute) isn't the answer. If the club believes PC has the vision, and that vision aligns with the clubs idea of sustained success - them I'm all in.
Let's back the team! Let's back the manager. Let's trust the process.

What people seem to forget when analysing the coach and dof roles when it comes to transfers is that the coach has to nurture and improve talent therefore plays a massive role in transfer out business. Massive.
And in terms of incomings most will have a large input. They will work together, scouts identify and compile a list, dof then whittles it down from what the coach has identified is needed in terms of profile. They will then choose the player list together ie 1st 2nd 3rd choice and so on
So to say coach/ managers have no say is idiotic.

Strom, I agree knutsen is the kind of manager we need however I believe he's happy at Bodo as he gets a % of player sales as part of his contract which tbh is fair enough for the job he's done there.

Who exactly on the Rangers board know anything about football coaching or management or football actually, get someone strong on that board to help and educate them . If it replaces at least one of them it's an added bonus . Christ only knows what these people talk to each other about . A couple of them I think possibly pies and cakes.
