According to Rangers review there Philippe Clement's job is safe for now ?For me this was a certainty.

Agree12 Disagree0

11 Feb 2025 17:34:50
I felt like it was Gona be safe, we could drop points in 4/10 games and probably wouldn't get the sack.

11 Feb 2025 17:40:35
Absolutely disgraceful. No other Rangers manager woukd have survived this seasons results.

11 Feb 2025 17:44:20
This is the oddest managerial appointment I've seen at Rangers. The man has a graceful away record, out of all domestic competitions by early February, and yet he hasn't been sacked. Utterly bizarre.

11 Feb 2025 17:47:42
Correct Paul.

11 Feb 2025 17:49:05
Obviously our cash flow problem is worse than we imagined. The man has no pride and won't resign his position. an absolute failure of a manager who puts money before his failures. any other job in world football he would be out.

11 Feb 2025 17:55:55
I wish the board would come out and be honest that we're not expected to challenge for any trophies over the next few seasons, at least this would take pressure off PC and fans could direct their anger at the board.

Just be honest, it's not too much to ask for.

11 Feb 2025 18:02:16
Dado, I've said this before, a few times, we have accepted that we will not win the league for a while and are HOPING for a cup win ( now gone) and a Europa run, to keep us going.
Can't see it changing any time soon tbh.

11 Feb 2025 18:03:23
I don't think it is a cash flow problem. It's a sensible thing to do. What more damage can he really do. He is taking the flak and will leave after process of re-structure. Happens all the time.

11 Feb 2025 18:21:43
This will delight a lot of fans who secretly want pc to stay and adore Dessers as well and are over the moon that he is still at the club.

11 Feb 2025 18:29:13
We better get our seat belts on its going to be a bumpy ride. But then again every time the pressure is off these players they seem to do a lot better. I feel like the Celtic 3-0 game has saved phil but its only delaying the inevitable.

11 Feb 2025 18:29:51
Even more worrying is that if Rangers beat hearts on Sunday in a dead rubber a majority of fans and most people on here will forget all about what's been going on all season again and start echoing Clements rebuild nonsense.

11 Feb 2025 18:37:56
Does anyone know what the payoff would be?
I've seen 3 different stories. One saying 1.2million, one saying 5 million and another saying close to 9 million due to his contract being 50k per week.

11 Feb 2025 18:47:34
Confirms things are worse behind the scenes than we thought. This guy can't take us forward.

11 Feb 2025 19:03:22
The board are full of mutes and do nothing but hide in background. Maybe they will release a statement when the season tickets are up for renewal and they increase the prices again. The decisions this board have made this season have been shocking and they need questioned as to their running of our club. They are the reason we are 17m in debt.

11 Feb 2025 19:03:38
Lots of poor seasons we have had and some even when the manager survived. we have played 2/ 3rds of league season and have 16 wins 5 draws and 4 losses so far. If the same ratio continues to end that would be 24 wins 8 draws and 6 losses. Gerrard survived a record of 23/ 9/ 6 in 18/ 19 for a start. SWS in 98/ 99 had a record of 23/ 8/ 5 and would have survived if he hadn't resigned. 94/ 95 and 93/ 94 SWS again with a record of 20/ 9/ 7 and 22/ 14/ 8 which actually won the league both times. Souness in 89/ 90 with 20/ 11/ 5 again won the league and 87/ 88 with record of 26/ 8/ 10 and 3rd.
some will say but we won't the league and that is right but fans still had to suffer the number of draws and defeats. and those where we never won the manager survived. didn't go further back than the Souness era.

11 Feb 2025 19:04:36
Tend to agree with that windy he's a human shield for the board as well.

11 Feb 2025 19:10:15
So what message does that send - Doesn't matter how poor your are Clement, you won't be sacked! Maybe that pleases some fans that Clement is staying but I'm not 1 of them.

11 Feb 2025 19:00:58
Was always going to be the case I reckoned. We can't afford to pay him off. Goal for the next couple seasons was probably set at 2nd in the league and decent run in Europe and possibly a domestic cup.

We still have Europe and we desperately need the money. Can't go into a euro tie with a caretaker manager. 'we just need to trust the process and project' and hope the club survives a few years to get the rubbishshow back in order.

11 Feb 2025 19:22:12
Blue some were saying he would get a years wages payed up over the next 12 months which doesn't sound to bad. But none of us know how bad our finances actually are right now. Aberdeen and hearts spent more money than us in january so it must be pretty bad. I miss the 90s.

11 Feb 2025 19:25:40
Rick i would be surprised if we went and got 3 points v hearts.

11 Feb 2025 19:37:40
The clowns above know the fans will come win lose or draw so they don't need to bother about anyone's opinion. The only way they will take notice is if the fans don't go to the games. Yip they have the season ticket money but they'll be starved of the hospitality, and kiosk money.

11 Feb 2025 20:02:36
Gazza so because you don't get your own way you are suggesting the fans hurt the club more then by reducing the money they have to hopefully spend on players but to at least pay off Clement when he does get sacked.
someone else said that we have no chance of winning anything, he is doing well in Europe so what harm is there of letting him at least finish the season. if we lose more then we will probably at worst finish second and if he manages too turn it round and get consistency then we do better. or try to find a manager interim or otherwise mid-season. always a difficult task.

11 Feb 2025 20:36:18
Angus how else does the majority of fans get change? Because it's the majority that want rid of him as the majority can see he is not the correct man to take us forward.

11 Feb 2025 21:01:28
I guess there won't be change of manager until next season at earliest otherwise we are just replicating what has happened in the past.
It's hard, but it's just the way it is until then.

11 Feb 2025 21:02:31
Really don't understand how so many of you just don't get it!

11 Feb 2025 21:19:58
Paul and others are correct. No other manager survives results like he has had. It's all well and good to say we don't have a lot of money and can't compete with Celtic. But surely we should be wiping the floor with Queens Park, Kilmarnock, St Mirren, Motherwell, etc etc. just some of the teams that clement has failed to put to the sword this season already.

I can only imagine we haven't given him the bullet because we cannot afford too. Which is pretty worrying.

I've not been impressed much by clement this season but a part of me was giving him the benefit of the doubt due to the fact he's clearly been sold a pack of lies to take this job and has worked under very difficult circumstances, having to slash the wage bill and try clear out all the dross and overpaid wasters that previous management recruited. So for me it was mostly the board that are to blame for our current mess.

But my god, losing at home to Queens Park? I'm sorry but I don't care how bad things are just now, in comparison to Celtic but we should never in a million years be losing to them at home. That's on PC himself.

11 Feb 2025 21:39:27
Blue89, If Clement's pay off was only 1.2m, I suspect he would have been gone long ago. Nobody really knows the details of his contract, but I would suspect it's much more than the 1.2M some are claiming!

11 Feb 2025 22:04:42
I think had he not just be offered a contract extention at the start off the season then he would have been away as it would not cost 1.2mil were as cause he is contracted till 2028 now we will see him for a while.

The question that has to be asked is would the fans be willing to miss out on at least 1 summer signing if we could get rid of the manager.

11 Feb 2025 22:06:24
Fruit so the players never turned up (but should have won by a few) and it's all Clement fault ?.

11 Feb 2025 22:18:27
Surely it would be worth the £1.2 million. To get rid of him get the next manager in now and let him try and work with what we have got till the end of the season and take it from there we are only going to have another 2 games in Europa league and we will still finish second.

11 Feb 2025 22:25:15
Storm, I will answer you this once as I dislike your attitude on this site. If you look at the poll on the other thread you will see it is more than 50% in favour of him lasting until at least the end of this season. I know that is only on here and all the people you speak to on x, at the stadium, in the pub etc want him gone.

the problem here is that the fanbase are split on what the right thing to do is. some see the issue with changing managers all the time although like me they don't have a solution to how to get through the cash and team build issue or even the poor away form and bad results. other like you want him gone but again I suspect don't have answers but don't see it as your problem to find them.

I come on here for a bit of banter about the club I love and sometimes even an intelligent chat about them. It breaks my heart more to hear the hatred for anything about my club as much as the position we are in does. However, I hold my right to continue to speak up for them no matter how many dissenting voices there are. I just ask that people respect the right to hold that opinion.

11 Feb 2025 22:30:38
Sorry, but was any of those loses of previous managers against a mid table lower league team in cup at Ibrox?

It is only a matter of time because that result will follow him everywhere. Celtic still hearing about caley thistle 20-odd years later and this result is worse.

11 Feb 2025 23:27:03
Why is that worse than the caley thistle result forever? they played in the Highland league a couple of years previous.
Shocks happen is cup games everywhere, yes that was a very bad one.

12 Feb 2025 00:06:23
Your not alone Angus, I don't like losing to St Mirren, Queens Park etc but I honestly don't see it as the worst Rangers team ever, have people forgot about the unbelievable injuries we've had and still have, the terrible decisions such as the penalty in cup final and hibs penalty against us. We've had some shockers and individual errors but the players are a missed pass away from getting booed and youngsters such as jefte and Barron are going to make wrong decisions. We've got a great home record apart from Sunday, an amazing euro record and in 3 games against Celtic, we've been the better team twice. It's not all bad. I just can't over react to every bad result. Or good result for that matter.

12 Feb 2025 01:51:12
Exeter only lost on penalties to Nottingham F playing with 10 men for around 45 minutes.

12 Feb 2025 07:42:15
Bad it is as fi the other managers who had poor results against the likes of St Mirren, Motherwell etc didn't exist. Souness and Sir Walter amongst them. Souness was even the manager in charge when Adrian Sprott scored and Hamilton beat us 1-0 in 1987 with the likes of Woods Butcher etc in the team. If we had sacked him then would the club have had the period of success in 80s and 90s as Sir Walter probably wouldn't have been his successor. People will say this is irrelevant as that is the norm now for the instant gratification needed. they also think that by sacking Clement we will go and just buy again not realising or believing that we need to cut costs for a long time now until we start selling our current players.
I am like you I try to be less emotional about each result as been through lots of games we should have won. I do think a lot of Celtic fans re on and this is siding our own support up more.

12 Feb 2025 08:48:58
It's unfortunate that there's only 2 teams capable of winning in Scotland, so when we don't win, it's our fiercest rivals and some fans can't see past that, fair enough to them but going forward, I'd rather be the team that impresses everyone in Europe, which in turn should lead to better sales like Bassey, Kamara.
Also, young players developing with us even if it's to move on.
I want to win everything, and beat Celtic 6 times a year but the time when it was the most important thing in life is long gone for me. As the European leagues continue to develop, it's looking more and more like a midweek euro league. I can see a time when there 16 league games with top 4 going to semi finals and finals.

12 Feb 2025 09:09:46
Angus think you need to recheck that poll nearly 50% want him gone now but over 70+ want him gona now or the summer.
