Grant Hanley seems to be surplus to requirements, and (from social media at least) it sound slike his agent is touting him around various clubs including Rangers. Not one I'd fancy myself, but he did come through our youth system I think (albeit too young to count as 'homegrown' for us in europe) . Said to be a bluenose by some online. His contract is up in summar, but I don;t see him as a viable option for anything other than the short erm, and given his history I'd imagine an english league club would give him a longer deal than we would.
I'm hoping this one is baseless myself.

Hopefully not a that’s exactly the type of players we should be steering clear of can’t win aerial duels and runs and turns likes he’s carrying 50kg on his back.
09 Jan 2025 09:58:52
Can't see this being anything other than paper talk. Does not fit our model at all and I don't think provides anything to the team.
09 Jan 2025 09:52:57
Hanley isn't terrible but does have a mistake in him at times, also another player with injury issues.
09 Jan 2025 09:59:10
No just no no no Captain Bombscare.
09 Jan 2025 10:17:56
He would do a cracking job for us, he’s a much better player than many think on here. Although irrelevant he is a bluenose.
09 Jan 2025 10:19:14
Really really really don’t like him as a player. Said the same about dowel, said the same about Scott wright, Tom Lawrence, (Lawrence proved me wrong with his talent at times but overall I feel vindicated in my opinion) he’s just another of the same mould that I am really against. If I was still a season ticket holder I’d probably stop going if we signed him that’s how badly I rate him.

Every centre half been linked to us has been shot down, either people want unaffordably better or there's a lot of snobs on here. Some could do a job. We need it sorted now not later.
09 Jan 2025 10:30:56
There is no way Nils Koppen is looking at Grant Hanley.
09 Jan 2025 11:04:11
He's simply not good enough.
09 Jan 2025 11:08:44
It’s snobbery with a lot fork but not Hanley boy is rotten as very slow.
09 Jan 2025 11:15:02
I'd be happy with Hanley. 6ft 4 in, a lot of pace (the ignorant won't accept that - look it up), and highly experienced. 18 month contract with extra year option would be ideal.
09 Jan 2025 11:26:20
Snobbish fans don't want to sign Scottish players! Rather have Hanley than proper.
09 Jan 2025 11:27:42
Id take porteous thi k he could be a good additim to be honest.
09 Jan 2025 11:34:06
Hanley is not 6 ft 4 and certainly isn't a pacey cb McMinn, you must be thinking of another player mate.
09 Jan 2025 11:40:47
For me I'm not confident with either Hanley or Porteous as don't think they are strong enough and Porteous gets tgat red mist and make stupid challenges. If this was the road we wanted to go down we should have moved for McKenna as I think he is a better defender and was free. I like the sound of the big Jamaican CB.
09 Jan 2025 11:50:13
Strom you seem pretty adamant that Hanley has no pace lol. I can 100% tell you that he is rapid. He is a big lad and has the head of a rhino I’ll give you that so not super sharp on the turn but he can shift in a 1 on 1.
09 Jan 2025 12:04:05
Let’s just play King and Nsiala and see how they go as the names linked to us clearly aren’t good enough for everyone in here. We have no money and aren’t going to sign the standard required.
09 Jan 2025 12:18:40
Belshillad83, McKenna may have been on a free but he was on a reported £50k a week, which no doubt Las Palmas have either matched or bettered . He was never affordable for us even if we hadn`t been cutting the wage budget.
Not sure I would want Hanley or Porteous though, not because they are not strong enough which is a bizarre thing to say about them . Porteous` discipline would worry me, he wouldn`t get away with the tackles he does if he is wearing a blue jersey and Hanley has all sorts of doubts over him, fitness and lack of pace being two of them . Still prefer either to Propper though .
{Ed001's Note - Las Palmas aren't rich mate, they do not pay big money like that. The appeal is living out there in the sunshine and the lifestyle that comes with it, more than the money.}
09 Jan 2025 12:21:04
Don’t know Hanleys height but no way he’s 6 feet 4, lucky if 6 foot, big NO for me would rather go without another CB.
09 Jan 2025 12:30:50
League is gone. Play everyone on an inflated salary. See you grabs their chance. Those who don't or can't take it. we don't need them. I hear names like Lovelace and Rice continuously for it seem like years but don't get the chance. Give them the chance.
09 Jan 2025 12:32:22
I'm far from being a fan of Grant Hanley but he is better than the options we currently have. I don't see him signing for 6 months, so an 18 month contract with an option seems like an acceptable deal.
09 Jan 2025 12:54:04
Grant Hanley is 1.88m which equates to 6 ft 2.
09 Jan 2025 12:59:34
so re Harley's speed. According to UEFA his top speed during Scotland games was 33.4 KPH and as a comparison Kyle Walker who is renowned for his pace was listed on same site as 34.8KPH so Hanley isn't slow according to this I would suggest.
for height EPL website have him at just under 6ft 2 inches.
09 Jan 2025 13:02:37
Hanley would do well in our league .
09 Jan 2025 14:02:17
Worked in Las palmas 4 times for around a year in total. Great lifestyle for any1 so the appeal is their for players. Just a small club punching well above their weight.
09 Jan 2025 14:17:04
Angus I use my eyes he is slower than a week in the jail and he is not a very good player which is the main point.
09 Jan 2025 14:42:28
Agree with storm ???.
09 Jan 2025 14:48:56
Storm. Even in the face of stats of actual recorded speed you maintain he is slow. A conversation stopper.
09 Jan 2025 15:22:28
yes storm and Stevie g your eyes are more accurate than any device used to measure speed ????. I have heard it all now. something that can be empirically measured is now being debunked by an observation form supported. If it went so sad it would be funny.
I have mentioned this to Police Scotland so they can get rid of all their traffic radar etc and just use you both.
09 Jan 2025 15:23:19
Meds required for Stevie?.
09 Jan 2025 16:31:05
Hanley is 6'2" and quick just thought it best to post the facts rather than the nonsense.
09 Jan 2025 20:47:46
Think I can see both side of the coin here…Hanley has a very high top speed when he gets up a head of speed but he is rather clumsy and heavy footed, very little agility/ flat footed which makes him look slow in more intricate situations.
Would take him on a short term deal if he would take a reasonable wage to bolster the squad. Great experience. Guy is hard as nails and would be valuable in certain games adding much needed physicality in both boxes - he’s not losing the header to bashiri the other night for example.
