Some info I've heard today

Carlos Bocanegra will be the next CEO and will be joined by an American billionaire investing in Rangers

This is 100% facts.

Agree33 Disagree0

14 Nov 2024 11:13:28
Loved Bocanegra as a player don’t know if this is true and honestly doubt it but would be great.

14 Nov 2024 11:16:25
Putting your neck on the line here mate, hope you're right.

14 Nov 2024 11:17:38
Thanks for the info twisted.

14 Nov 2024 11:28:12
That sounds very positive news. Bocanegra looks pretty well qualified for that type of role. New Investment badly needed.

14 Nov 2024 11:41:22
Calsberg don’t do rumours….

14 Nov 2024 11:43:04
If only .

14 Nov 2024 11:47:29
Is it Halsted or someone new outside of the club willing to invest?

14 Nov 2024 11:59:32
Baldy I wrote few weeks ago he had made short list, I hope twisted is correct.

14 Nov 2024 12:04:50
Thanks for the share TT. Fingers crossed.

14 Nov 2024 12:24:43
Is that American Billionaire our director John Halstead twisted?

14 Nov 2024 12:28:27
Halsted must have at least some interest in a takeover of the club giving he has no affiliation to us yet is a billionaire on our board. Let's see what happens.

14 Nov 2024 12:44:04
Fingers crossed twisted. Cheers mate.

14 Nov 2024 12:50:48
We haven’t heard anything from Berkshire for a few weeks and he tends to have good input on these things.

14 Nov 2024 13:05:42
As I reported over the last few months John Halstead and Stuart Gibson are making moves to take control.
I have heard that they are in talks with Jim McColl to buy out remaining board members ie King, Parks.

Carlos Bocanegra is well thought of in the football business, he is very well educated and will bring the club fully into the modern era.

I would expect Clement to be relieved of his duties in favour of a more progressive minded coach.

14 Nov 2024 13:08:21
You wouldn't happen to have a timescale, just a general ball park for when this could be announced?

14 Nov 2024 13:30:26
Like most of you, i've always thought very highly of carlos bocanegra and loved him when he was here as our player? He's highly rated in that sort of field now and would be a superb choice as our new CEO ?An american double with john halsted becoming our new chairman, as i think John touched on yesterday ?That would be 2 terrific appointments in 2 very important positions within our club, imo ???.

14 Nov 2024 14:25:36
Love the confidence.

The club is very much at a crossroads, and the board appear to be split in three.

The US route appears to be a pretty constant rumour.

14 Nov 2024 14:34:30
this sounds promising.

14 Nov 2024 14:38:15
Is there a Hollywood connection and will it be the Walt Disney stadium . hell I'm now singing the Flintstones theme toon and thot I thaw a poody cat . fact.

14 Nov 2024 15:05:45
Thanks TT.

14 Nov 2024 15:12:01
Asathor Who would you have in mind to be the new coach. ?????????.

14 Nov 2024 15:38:43
Newman there are many good coaches out there, I have my opinions that are well known.

14 Nov 2024 16:05:12
Asathor like many is a big fan of kjetil Knutsen ?.

14 Nov 2024 16:42:12
ASA - SK Brann manager?
Hope you right TT. ?.

14 Nov 2024 17:04:13
No thank you Copland I want to keep him.

14 Nov 2024 17:17:31
I am rite it'll be out soon not sure of the name of the investor it was a name I've never heard but Bocanegra is a goer, I'll post when it happens won't say more seen some people on twitter posting and slating posts from here so I'll be back when it comes to fruition lol.

14 Nov 2024 17:17:41
We need change top to bottom at our club.

14 Nov 2024 17:19:15
Its a takeover from the White House ????? Big Donald and Wee Elon ?.

14 Nov 2024 18:47:15
Don`t know about his abilities as a CEO and he did stay with us through our troubles when "Rangers men" were running away but Bocanegra was a terrible central defender, him and Goian were a nightmare at the back.

14 Nov 2024 20:08:04
Sorry wslgersforever, bocanegra was named captain america by us and had a good understanding with Golan, as for staying with us yes he did initially then left after 6 games as he was fearful of losing his international place? let's get things into context.

14 Nov 2024 20:15:07
Carlos Bocanegra was a terrible defender wsl ?Not for me pal this guy had way over 100 caps for his country and don't agree with your assessment of boca whatsoever.

14 Nov 2024 22:01:30
Hi folks, I haven't posted anything for the past few weeks as I haven't heard anything new since the rumour of a US Appointment for the DoF role and the new investment from existing shareholders.

I have been spending quite a lot of time in Manchester and will be there for the first two weeks of December and will follow up on a comment that was made that SAF will be working on an advisory role with Rangers in the new year. I tended to discount this given that he is now in his early 80's but with the recent press report that he is buying an apartment in Glasgow there might be something in this.
Also told that the Club has been discussing a rights issue that would generate a considerable investment from existing shareholders but would dilute the value of existing shares. I'm not clear whether converting current loans to equity would be allowed under a Rights Issue but it is certainly a less complicated way of raising additional capital.
Assuming that this was to happen, it is unlikely that Dave King would be in a position to take up his Rights Issue and other existing Directors, for example Johnston might also be unwilling or not interested however this would most likely still be passed as a resolution and there are existing shareholders that are not on the board that have expressed an interest in acquiring more shares.
It also opens the door to a new investor taking up any shares that are not subscribed for.
If previous rumours hold firm then we should see some movement just before the AGM in December.

14 Nov 2024 22:11:19
New manager with top level experience as both player and manager, has a head of hair too ;)

14 Nov 2024 22:23:02
Bocanegra was a class act - how anyone can say he was anything but is just complete nonsense.

15 Nov 2024 01:20:22
Bocanegra and Goian joined Rangers at the same time. It was the year Ally McCoist first took over as manager in the SPL. Rangers were eliminated from the CL, UEFA, and League Cup, within the first few weeks of the season. Nothing but the league left to play for and Celtic had overtaken us by Christmas. Rangers went into admin in the Janaury. On the pitch stuff didn't matter anymore. Both defenders were quickly moved on because we had to play lower league football the next season.

Bocanegra might have been a good player, but not for Rangers. He did nothing in a Rangers shirt and was here during a disastrous period which he said himself.

15 Nov 2024 05:57:12
Look good player or not he might be the fella too lead our team into the right direction, he comes with a brilliant rep n a wealth of knowledge in football n business management, also knows what the cauldron of scotland takes for success, we need a new direction
Hopefully a takeover with decent money put into the team
But also rangers as a brand
We need to become a force again
On and off the pitch.

15 Nov 2024 09:13:07
C'mon! The guy hardly played for us, was part of the team when we went into admin, but at the time, was already falling apart at the seams.

This is a common thread on here regarding past players. When they're here, they're OK, decent players, however, fast forward a number of years after they have left, and some on here have them down as "legend" status. I obviously exaggerate for affect, but you get what I mean?!
The guy was OK, that's it!

I don't care who we get as long as the know what they're doing, and take us in the right direction. Right now, a room full of infants from the local nursery could probably do a better job, so it's not going to be difficult to do better!

15 Nov 2024 09:43:59
If Carlos Bocanegra does take that role could we see a partnership with MLS club like Atlanta United FC where we take some of there talent and they take some of our talented B team to get them experiance.

I rate PC as Manager, i just think we need to get a few Goal scorers and a CD who commands the Box, also need to get a commanding player in midfield.

15 Nov 2024 10:22:01
Asathor cheers
SWS that’s who I was thinking But couldn’t remember the name ?????????.

15 Nov 2024 10:33:15
Fingers crossed this rumour is true. Rumour has it Arthur Blank is the investor.

15 Nov 2024 10:49:06
Ibroxstorm the way Scottish football is it would probably be us taking MLS b team players and them taking our best players on fees.

15 Nov 2024 11:17:37
An Ex player with no commercial exerience or experience as a CEO (Vice President of Atlanta United is non comparable), is being ushered in as a CEO of a club the size of Rangers by a "Billionaire backer :)? Not. A. Chance.

15 Nov 2024 11:48:41
Nice to see some potential positive news on here not immediately quashed in the replies. Will be interesting to see how it develops.

On the SAF rumour, would be shrewd from the board we need more football men around the club and you don't get many better.

15 Nov 2024 12:19:44
Hmmmmm?! I'm struggling to see what benefits AF would bring at all?! Aye, in his time he was obviously a very successful manager, but look at the age of him! Also, if true, this would have carnage written all over it. Nope, not for me.

Hi Ed001, hope all is well. Have you got an opinion on whether having Ferguson around the club would have any benefits? Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - I can't see what he can offer other than raising the club's profile. He is a very strong personality, who casts a huge shadow. Unless things are successful, his presence becomes an icon for discontent to manifest around. If things are successful, then he is not needed. Plus his age. He should be enjoying his well earned retirement. Not sure the stress and strains of involvement are good for him.}

15 Nov 2024 12:55:34
BigTel, that's your opinion, in mine he was a terrible centre half and a huge step down from the guys who had been there the season before i. e Weir and Bougherra . He was probably give that nickname because he was captain of the USA team at the time or just named after our original Captain America, i. e Claudio Reyna.
Both he and Goian were hailed, us usual, as some great signing coup but they were both dead slow. Just remember how our European season went and how our domestic season imploded even before the financial stuff, these guys were part of that.
We have had better centre backs get pelters on here over the last few years.

15 Nov 2024 13:24:36
Is Arthur Blank being mentioned only because Bocanegra is at Atlanta, is there any substance to this?

15 Nov 2024 16:21:29
I just can’t see us getting taken over. It’s just nonsense in my opinion at the moment and fans are desperate to cling to any little bit of hope.

15 Nov 2024 18:03:00
Lads, this is just my opinion based off what little i know about bocanegras post playing career. As a player, you don't play in la liga, epl, ligue un etc and have over 100 caps if you aren't decent, (sorry ss, luv u all the same lol) . Now bear in mind he was technical director and i believe vice ceo for 6 years with atlanta utd, and from what i gather was either approached multiple times or even was asked to consult for the US national team, and as much as we may" look down on the mls (some not all) its an evergrowing and expanding market. I agree with ed, sir alex would bring name value but may overshadow the real work needed done and at his age he deserves his quiet life with his family. In summary CB would get my backing as he certainly seems to have something to offer. P. s i'm half cut and the mrs is on backshift so let's hope i'm asleep before she gets home and no tell her about my rambling, fork, ss, mystar and bigdado that means youse, sshhh ;) lol.

15 Nov 2024 18:22:50
There's no doubting he was a talented footballer, Ger88, and he had pedigree, but he was just OK for us. The guy was coming to the end of his career, and we were just about to implode, but for anyone to say he was a top player for us, is just not true.

If the wife is away, you mind and keep your hands to yourself. ?.

15 Nov 2024 18:57:09
Hey mate that are some crap players in all they leagues, McBurnie, Silva and McKenna are currently playing in La Liga having played in the EPL . It should also be noted that the USA team was nowhere near the level they are now with regards to the quality and quantity of players they have available now. Bocanegra was also coming to the end of his career when he joined us and he looked it, he was no better than Propped and Goldson who get slagged off regularly on here.

15 Nov 2024 23:07:36
Jings lads wasn't too long ago it was thanks but no yanks?

16 Nov 2024 11:18:23
Bocanegra was at best an average CH. He always spoke well though and if he has grown and added to his skill set could be decent option as CEO. Not my preferred profile for CEO.

16 Nov 2024 14:15:45
Wslgers see Silva is in the Portuguese squad and looking likely he's playing against Croatia, he could still have a good career but he'll need to cut that diving out a was getting embarrassed for him myself.

18 Nov 2024 16:51:34
What decade is this happening TT?
