Bennet to resign as chairman in coming days.

Agree2 Disagree0

14 Sep 2024 12:41:19
Dama, being doing rounds since he failed to take up post in august, many will be very happy I’m sure

A board now made up of non exec directors.

14 Sep 2024 12:47:38
Did you hear this from the same person that told you Miovski would be a Rangers player, hopefully the same as that outcome.

14 Sep 2024 12:53:46
I think it's a blow john bennett resigning as our chairman and just what a total mess is going on at our club ? There's clearly a power struggle and god only knows where this board goes from here We're in total dissaray ?.

14 Sep 2024 13:00:24
Walter, who would be involved in a power struggle,

IF it were to happen a lot off fans would be getting what they wanted.

14 Sep 2024 13:04:49
Confirmed by the club now. Reference to health reasons. It makes me wary not having a chairman of chief Exec at the moment.

14 Sep 2024 13:07:16
star I was about to say it might not be true but it is now on Rangers website. shame that the pressure put on him has affected his health so feel that is the right decision so he can return to good health. no-ones job should ever have that effect on them. John Gilligan stated to take up the role on interim basis with executive team doing day to day.

14 Sep 2024 13:14:25
And what if he wants squared up for his shares before he goes ?.

14 Sep 2024 13:16:08
It's Now official and it is with immediate effect.

14 Sep 2024 13:19:42
Just been announced.

14 Sep 2024 13:20:04
Just seen that sws.

14 Sep 2024 13:23:03
John Gilligan stepping in meantime.

14 Sep 2024 13:35:08
Stepping down for health reasons so wish him the best. When your job finally starts taking its toll it’s time to move on. Folk seem to think it’s ok to keep giving players and staff dogs abuse because they apparently “pay their wages” even tho they don’t purchase merchandise because castore is “poor quality” or attend any matches.

14 Sep 2024 13:37:28
John gilligan has returned on a temporary basi.

14 Sep 2024 13:40:33
Fork, allegedly that is in terms of his loans. Normal business practice, let’s wait and see.

14 Sep 2024 13:45:42
I'm disappointed that Bennet has resigned however if it is for the better of his health then that is much more important and the stress of the role at the current time certainly won't have helped.
John Gilligan certainly has the business experience having been managing director of TCB. He also has the experience of managing a handover at a time of acquisition and take over although there is nothing to suggest that there is anything imminent in this respect.

14 Sep 2024 13:45:48
Bennet hasn't been good for the club as chairman, worrying what else may come to light.

14 Sep 2024 14:02:50
John u said if Bennett goes he'd take his money with him or that still a possibility.

14 Sep 2024 14:03:33
John Bennett seems to be a very decent man and I thank him for his service to our club. Some of our fans should be careful what they wish for. Mr Bennett at least always seems to have our club in his heart.

14 Sep 2024 14:04:00
Miovski would have been a great signing for us.

14 Sep 2024 14:05:42
Bennet resigns. That aged well star?.

14 Sep 2024 14:10:37
Berkshire I feel Gilligan too old at 70 to be the next full time chairman.

14 Sep 2024 14:16:45
John, who do you want as our next chairman, if you don't mind me asking mate ?.

14 Sep 2024 14:17:31
Could take his money, that’s normal in business, he still has security of edmiston house.

We need to wait and see, his health is the most important issue at this moment.

14 Sep 2024 14:25:26
Onewqlter reports coming out that he is to remain as a major shareholder and investor.

14 Sep 2024 14:29:14
Can a ask the ones that says he's resigned because of the stress of his work at rangers how do yous know this or yous just guessing and actually don't know a thing about the man or his illness.

14 Sep 2024 14:45:22
Probably depends on what he wants to do John, but correct health first.

14 Sep 2024 14:55:35
Walter obe, we must not dive in, gilligan more than capable steering us forward, short term
As a club and fan base we must hold our nerve, when the going gets tough the tough get going.

I would wait and see if any off the name’s Berkshire mention do step forward, also Gibson and JM. As someone who puts I. Serious investment may have a caveat they or their pick is chairman

The same could be said re ceo, academy director etc.

Remember we in the past have had a board member be the Chairman, so the fact Bennett was to take a full time paid role does not necessarily mean that will be our direction of travel

I would very much like to see Gibson on the board, there has been talk he would become vice chairman at next agm

He is a major investor at present and certainly has the business acumen, I would do everything to get weir in there unless he clearly states it’s a no.

14 Sep 2024 15:59:42
What about Shankland as Player/ Chairman, sorry just had to get his name in somewhere.

14 Sep 2024 16:15:25
Wsl, more change it being hagi.

14 Sep 2024 16:48:06
Nothing wrong with still being a CEO or Executive Chairman at 70, John, although I agree that Gilligan won't be there for too long. That said, I believe that he is a sensible appointment on an interim basis and his latter time at TCB is interesting, (if for no other reason than he oversaw the transition when their parent company took full control as part of a wider restructure.
I believe that there is currently too much rumour regarding investment etc., and the reduction in operating costs, reduction of debt etc., allied to PC's comments about things having changed since his appointment all points, to me, to either a full take over or to a significant investment that would wrestle control from the old guard, in particular, the Park Family.
Halstead and Gibson, both look like a good bet from within existing shareholders and certainly, in the case of Halstead, he certainly has access to some powerful investors and, like Gibson has major personal wealth. For me, this would be the dream team!

14 Sep 2024 17:34:04
Berkshire these two plus one my dream team.

14 Sep 2024 17:54:04
I know it has just happened but do we think John Bennett would come back when his health improves?

14 Sep 2024 18:19:53
Superally, I believe that Bennett would have been happy to stay as a Non Exec, but was 'forced' into the role when Park resigned. I remain of the view that we will see major new investment and most of the current Board will go. Whether Bennet would want o return as a Non Exec., I don't know, perhaps he would just be happy to be watching a winning team like the rest of us.

14 Sep 2024 18:27:56
Think I mentioned away back in early may possibly I had heard of investment would come around October
Wolhardt and some others possibly being involved
Possibly from Asia
no proof to be true or if it will happen someone passed it along to me.

14 Sep 2024 19:25:32
It’s very easy - too easy in fact- to give people dogs abuse on social media and none of us know just how that affects people’s health so maybe some of those dishing it out could think twice in future.

14 Sep 2024 20:24:33
I hope Bennett recovers well, but he had to go. It was untenable.

Hopefully it doesn't provide means for King to worm his way back into the fold.

No chairman and no CEO is the prime situation for a takeover hopefully.

14 Sep 2024 21:05:24
Gersloon, gees peace, the way the fans are to blame for his illness. Just another attempt to try to bring rangers fans down. can see right threw you.

15 Sep 2024 07:19:09
I would love davie weir back at rangers in a prominent position ?
I don't think it would happen but we can but dream/ hope ? He's very highly regarded at brighton and that club is run superbly well ?.

15 Sep 2024 08:08:14
John are you the other one in that dream team
?

15 Sep 2024 11:02:25
Already asked Storm?, says he's too auld to take us forward, think he's stonewalling bud???.

15 Sep 2024 11:48:44
wslgers4ever LMFAO @ Shankland (Rumour is he is being lined up as Player - Manager after Clement go's if we lose next game to Celtic)

15 Sep 2024 11:55:50
Doubt we could have afforded Miovski, Young, Fast, Talented and scores superb goals, did we ever make a serious offer for him, doubt him or his agent would have wanted a loan to buy / play now pay later type offer, He went to right club anyway Girona are an ambitious Spanish Premier League club, who have signed some superb up and coming young players and of course absolutely ripped MAN U off for Donny Van De Beek for a measely 500k, he will find his best form again and is in his prime at 27, a cracking Jong Ajax / Ajax club product, his value will shoot up again once he settles in there and likely end up at a bigger club again.

Shame we could not attract a midfielder of his skill / qualities nowadays, would have been a good Captain for our up and coming young side, just as Luuk De Jong has been for PSV Eindhoven.
