Talk Sport reporting that Tavernier has his agent speaking to clubs in Qatar to try and get a move. Apparently not happy with the stick received after Sunday's hellish repeat performance.
06 Sep 2024 14:03:43
would anyone blame him, time for him to go anyway but who do we have left to fill his place.
06 Sep 2024 14:13:10
If Tav goes, I wish him all the best, But we can’t keep on playing him regularly as he’s a liability. ?????????.
06 Sep 2024 14:22:34
I detest the behaviour of some fannies sorry fans towards tav but he needs to go his position will become more toxic the more he struggles and we do.
06 Sep 2024 14:31:27
if that's all it took for him to want to jump ship then cya.
We all wanted rid of him last season.
He has left it too long now to move on and now won't be remembered foundly by some fans.
"oh i got shouted at by a fan after i played terribly against our biggest rivals. i better hurry and leave" LOL.
06 Sep 2024 14:31:58
Takes the praise but can't take the flak when the going gets tough. Sooner the loser goes the better.
06 Sep 2024 14:49:00
We'll be weaker with out him and I wouldn't blame him for leaving.
Big question is, who would be the next Scape goat?
06 Sep 2024 14:52:25
His reaction proved he isn't a captain.
It was HITC, not talksport.
He has to leave, the fans have totally turned.
He has less than 5% of fan support.
06 Sep 2024 15:33:01
Talksport now reporting too, initially HITC.
06 Sep 2024 15:34:54
Ally if that happened to you at your work would you just take it nah you would want out.
06 Sep 2024 15:41:33
He has to go but the funny thing will be we will be no better off, we might actually end up worse off and then there will be a new scapegoat. Sterlings a great player as a utility man but I can assure you he might be a little better than tav at defending but offers no attacking threat.
06 Sep 2024 15:48:38
That him finally got the message.
06 Sep 2024 15:53:16
Ally, you forgot to add
i played terribly against our biggest rivals AGAIN!
06 Sep 2024 15:59:35
So we are now a club where the fans decide if you stay or go maybe we should have a voting system in place so fans can give a thumbs up or down to the manager on who comes and goes, which players will want to come to this club to land up being judged by fans if not what they want then abused, I think it might be better if he goes the fans Have decided but no way I’d be standing outside Ibrox abusing him they are a total embarrassment to the club their sense of entitlement is off the scale, we are going through a tough time because of mistakes made through last few years, financially we are not in a good place to rectify those mistake and we just have to accept it for a few windows.
06 Sep 2024 16:22:59
We'd have a better success rate twacoos!
06 Sep 2024 16:24:05
Ally McCoist nearly got a kickin off one of our fans at the beginning of his Rangers career, cannot remember if it was Big Colin McAdam or DJ that saved him outside Ibrox, it happens at every club and when this club is second best it will happen here, players that are not even playing get it in the neck just the way of the jungle.
06 Sep 2024 16:29:16
if a so called fan did that in any other workplace he would have a lifelong ban and possibly charged.
06 Sep 2024 17:10:50
79sjt, I take it you have conducted a poll amongst thousands of fans to reach your conclusion that 95%+ want the captain removed from Ibrox? Or did you just make that up?
06 Sep 2024 17:14:55
Thousands of fans do it every week at the ground do that, anyone with a season ticket can probably point out a couple within distance of their seat who get carried away and most them would love a selfie with the player they just shouted at, being charged a would of said is a joke but the way this country is going you could be right.
06 Sep 2024 17:40:28
Love the sweeping statements about Tav, his sub 5% fan rating, him leaving after 10yrs for being shouted at once…. All crafted statements from those who seem to know little but sound off endlessly with the same mantra…
If Tab leaves because he’s hounded out by fans that’s sad. Same for any professional footballers. Yes they’re paid well, and can take abuse on a Saturday but gets more difficult when it’s vitriolic and personal.
I wouldn’t take that at work, neither should a footballer, and don’t give any tosh about it being acceptable because footy is ‘different’…
Show dissent if you wish, criticism of a player is fine (let’s face it none of the 17 squad covered themselves in glory on Sunday)!
But less of the ‘if you don’t agree with me that he’s cr@p, or useless’ then you know nothing line. and Ray why don’t you look at your fellow posters and you’ll see hundreds of ‘different’ views on players, formations etc… so yea you’re bound to at some point get something right.
06 Sep 2024 18:25:30
I wish the club would "bound to at some point get something right".
06 Sep 2024 18:33:24
Tav has stayed 2 years too long at least. What happened last week shouldn’t have but he is alway happy to take the plaudits but can’t handle the criticism. I am just hopefully we don’t need to listen to another interview where he says we will learn wish him all the best but he is never a rangers captain in my opinion.
How can we weaker he is rank rotten.
06 Sep 2024 18:43:50
The idiot that mouthed off at Tav wearing the body warmer and shorts (confirming he's an idiot) should be nothing for anyone ever to be concerned about but the club need to get him banned, though I expect he's never attended a game and never will.
06 Sep 2024 18:48:31
You mean like winning the league cup…. Doh.
06 Sep 2024 18:53:19
Tav has no future with Rangers.
06 Sep 2024 19:20:07
they probably get it right a lot; whether fans agree with it is another thing. I wonder if Rangers are just a reason for some to moan about what they don do or what they do that they down agree with. Try to look on some of the positives although some will no doubt say there aren't any. once it gets better look forward to those fans finding the next thing to moan about.
06 Sep 2024 19:40:53
I believe that in sport it is totally different from Business. If you fail to meet targets at a senior level in Business you generally lose your job, or are paid off. In some instances they know that their performance is not good enough and they jump before they are pushed.
Companies that continue to employ Executive Management that don't perform generally fail.
In footballing terms we might be critical of the number of titles that Gerrard won but he had to build a team and he got there and also had a good run in Europe. Thereafter we have no idea how successful he would have been because Park and his Board failed totally to support him.
It is easy to be critical of Tav and I fully agree that it is time for him to go, but like others he has had to contend with a media that has been nudging him out of Rangers all summer. In terms of the player himself my view is that he shouldn't let what the support is saying, especially a handful of unhappy fans after an Old Firm Game, get to him. If anything it should spur him on to go for the jugular in every game he played. Maybe he is too nice a guy.
Bottom line, he probably should have gone, like many others, while we could still secure a good price for him and that money should have been reinvested in the Team. The fault for that does not lie with Tav, the fault lies with the current Board and those that preceded them.
I don't believe that things will change until we see new blood in the Boardroom.
06 Sep 2024 20:13:31
Boohoo player getting 30k a week getting stick of fans look at Turkish football Italian French they are a lot worse than ours if he can’t take a couple of fans showing up booing him and giving him abuse after getting a 3-0 gubbing in one of the biggest derbys in the world then simply get tae f##k tav.
06 Sep 2024 21:14:19
Don't care what anyone says, or what used to happen or still happens anywhere. the abuse is unacceptable. It's not his fault he's been played consistently when he's obviously just not good enough anymore.
At any other period of our history he'd never have even held a permanent place in our team never mind become captain. He came at a period of transition and for the best part has been great for us. He was always more of a RWB than a RB for me, but he played in the role he was given.
Hopefully he can move on and so can we.
06 Sep 2024 21:40:28
The guy shouldn’t banned for mouthing off, he should have went about it in a better way but utter bs to say he should be banned.
06 Sep 2024 21:41:17
If Tav goes we will be weaker short term but to improve as a team and progress he needs to be moved on.
06 Sep 2024 21:51:07
Yeah let's brag about the league cup whilst they get to 56 first. Doh!
06 Sep 2024 22:47:48
They will win the league this year regardless if tav is here or no but if tva goes someone else will get the blame now him and Goldson are away.
06 Sep 2024 23:14:14
Scotty I don't think we'll be weaker short term mate, I'm playing a few before him at rb now.
07 Sep 2024 00:16:09
Don’t know if he nearly got a kicking but those two confronted the mob.
07 Sep 2024 07:06:48
Hate to disappoint but Tav ain't going anywhere. don't believe what you hear in the media.
07 Sep 2024 10:56:34
Bedding a new RB in as you know takes time my star. Sterling injuries def a concern and the new lad only just arrived.
07 Sep 2024 11:23:00
so our defence on poor fan behaviour is that it is worse elsewhere so it is acceptable. no wonder society as a whole is on a downward spiral. when our fans sing no longer acceptable sectarian songs it is always just the minority which is still too many and that Celtic do it as well so that is okay. Well it isn't. so fans do need to be told somehow that it isn't because if they aren't then the next lot get braver. so thing ST away for a short period will make people think twice; that's assuming they are able to think once.
07 Sep 2024 14:22:00
Nobody knows whether Tav is staying or going hate to disappoint you .
08 Sep 2024 10:37:59
Cooper you stole my thunder!
Unfortunately there has always been incidents with fans having a go at players when the chips are down, I witnessed a couple and the incident you are referring to with McCoist was big DJ with Davie Cooper having to intervene in 1983.
09 Sep 2024 09:10:56
Firstly GC. i do get shouting matches in work now and again and with worse things said than what was shouted at Tav and take it on the chin as i'm not soft. And i'm not even on £30k a week haha and i'm actually good at my job too :)
Secondly what did the lad even shout at Tav. you are a loser and get tae ****. oh how abusive LOL. Same things we have all thought.
The country has gone so soft.
Obviously their is a level/ line but if the fans just sit back and let it continue while we can all see the continuing failure then what? Some fans seem far too happy to be 2nd best and then it will become 3rd and who knows where it ends.
We would all love it if Tav somehow turned it all around, played well but most of us cannot see that happening especially in the OF games.
