I was told last night that Kamara will move on before the end of the transfer window and that we are currently negotiating a deal to bring Billy Gilmour back to the club, initially on a loan deal. There continues to be discussion on whether there will be a permanent transfer at the end of the loan spell, and also what the fee will be. It is my understanding that agreement is likely to be reached fairly soon. Chelsea had requested that Gilmour be guaranteed a starting place if he was fit to play, but I am told that this was rejected by Gio!

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Aug 2022 11:11:07
Don't know about Kamara moving. As to Gilmour, Gio is correct not to guarantee him starting place in team. Please remember Gilmour left us so I for one do not want him back, loan or otherwise.
No Kent or Soutar tonight but we should be covered OK. 2 nil and look forward to the next round.

02 Aug 2022 11:26:28
Glad to see this rumour resurface, I think we can make a loan to buy happen

Gilmour for Kamara, is an upgrade in my opinion and someone who can dictate play from that deep lying CDM role.

02 Aug 2022 11:28:04
Just because he left us you wouldn’t take him back? What about Davis or McGregor? Granted I wouldn’t take him on loan to develop him for Chelsea but if we were to buy him then 100%. Young Scottish talented and bear. He got offered the opportunity of a life time to play with a European giant. He’s played at the top level agaisnt top players and is a Scotland international now. I would take him in a heart beat if the price is right but to say you wouldn’t take him loan or otherwise just because he left us before is silly. If it didn’t work with bassey and we got the chance to take him back for cut price would u say no just because he left?

02 Aug 2022 11:30:24
Spanish John what do you feel about Mcgregor and Davis same as Gilmour? I would love him back but on loan too buy deal.

02 Aug 2022 11:57:40
Would absolutely love wee Gilmour back at club but would definitely need to be a loan to buy option.

02 Aug 2022 11:59:55
Makes sense to me as Gilmour not wanted by Tuchel.

02 Aug 2022 12:00:02
I might be in the minority but we don't need him. Good player but we have 3 sitting midfielders already.
Best on earth, Jack and Davis.
If Kamara goes we need to replace him with a box to box midfielder whoever that may be.

02 Aug 2022 12:19:33
McGregor and Davis still signed as pro's gilmour didn't want to play for us as a man. I think he is too light weight and would rather development boys from our academy that want to be rangers players.

02 Aug 2022 12:24:09
Gilmour is so divisive between the shortsighted fans who believe he left for money (so what if he did) and those who want the best players. He's a top talent and I'd practically cry with joy if we got rid of disinterested Kamara and brought Gilmour in to replace him.

02 Aug 2022 12:26:29
I really rate Gilmour as a player and think he'd he'd be a significant improvement on what we have.

A future midfield of Sands, Gilmour and Tillman has a nice ring to it.

02 Aug 2022 12:29:34
If we pay anything for gilmour we are mugs.

02 Aug 2022 12:30:00
You wanty pay money for someone we let go for penny’s ?.

02 Aug 2022 12:30:12
Would take Gilmour back in a heartbeat. Was given the chance of a lifetime as a young lad and took it. Fair play to him. He's a great talent and would walk the spl.

02 Aug 2022 12:30:45
Gilmour is no way an upgrade on Kamara.

He is a very talented player who has lost his way due to poor loans.

If Kamara moves on it will be for a considerable fee and we would go back into the market for a established CAM.

02 Aug 2022 12:36:12
Don`t see Gilmour as an upgrade on Kamara, an established international and a player who has proven time after time he has the class to play in big games and in Europe. If Kamara wants to go, Gilmour is a decent replacement but he`s certainly not an upgrade.

02 Aug 2022 12:53:06
Basset a different thing. WE SOLD HIM. (our decision)
To buy Gilmour back. Chelsea will want much more than we could afford.
We should give our own youngsters eg Lowry, McCann a chance first or we run risk of losing them.
Agree Davis and especially McGregor have done a good job for us.
But this is about opinions and mine is if you choose to leave then it's a one way ticket. There are plenty players who would be proud to sign for our great club.

02 Aug 2022 12:53:48
Kamara is a better player than Gilmour so will not be happy selling kamara to give gilmour a big wage.

02 Aug 2022 13:00:36
Let’s all bear in mind the man responsible for trying to convince him to stay was Pedro Caixhinha. Rangers a totally different beast now, so don’t blame him for trying his luck down south. Would like Kamara to stay but Gilmour’s progressive passing would give us something we don’t have from deep just now.

02 Aug 2022 13:05:26
I’m sure Gio will buy/ sell/ loan/ play and not play whoever he sees fit. He won’t be relying on our uneducated opinions.

02 Aug 2022 13:17:21
Possibly a bit different
But look at pogba for Man Utd - left for free then they bought him back for £100 million and I think did he not again just leave for free back to the club he originally left for free and was bought back form for the £100 million
If that’s not a superb bit of business done by juventus I don’t know what is ????.

02 Aug 2022 13:20:47
I don’t think we just sold him was it not a cross border fee just like we have done with English players, he didn’t want to sign a pro contract so we had no other option, he had the chance to go down south and play for a top club so who can blame him for having a go, I don’t no if there is any substance in this rumour but I’d take him but I’d trust the recruitment team if they want him.

02 Aug 2022 13:22:45
Kamara better than Gilmour? Really? If we were to sign Gilmour, he immediately becomes our first choice midfielder. He's better than anyone we already have. He will also be able to tell the likes of Lowry and McCan that moving to England isn't always the best option for youngsters.

02 Aug 2022 13:30:04
The thing here is guys if chelsea were to sell gilmour it will be a lot more than we sell kamara for ?Kamara without a doubt is a talented midfielder but i believe billy gilmour will be a better midfielder than kamara simple as that for me!

02 Aug 2022 13:36:51
How is Gilmour and upgrade on kamara What’s Gilmour done like Played great against England? Gilmour has the potential to be better than kamara but he ain’t there yet.

02 aug 2022 13:37:28
sorry bassey, along with the laughs, do you actually know anything about football mate

it’s a genuine question, the boy left to join european elite, he made a fortune, he might just be available, a fantastic player, no brainier

we also paid peanuts for kamara, do you think we should sell him for peanuts?

if not, why should chelsea not want payment for what is now a fully established international player?

unbelievable.

02 Aug 2022 13:39:45
Spanish John we didn’t sell him as he never signed a pro contract with rangers so at least get it right .

I would rather we played McCann than get Gilmour back on loan and Chelsea will want more cash than we could afford.

02 Aug 2022 13:58:40
Kamara Will definitely be a better player in the Scottish league gilmour is a holding midfielder that weighs less than Ryan kent he would need to bulk up as the spl is a physical league he is a good player tho just think he’s suited to the English league more.

02 Aug 2022 14:01:55
Storm, don't think that I said we "SOLD Gilmour". He left.
Let's not split hairs on this.
P. S. I do enjoy the banter and different opinions, keep it up all.

02 Aug 2022 14:13:44
Coops that’s because one plays in England the other in Scotland y it is rather silly mentioning what they would be sold for and right now kamara is the better player there isn’t even a debate. Gilmour has more potential.

02 Aug 2022 14:47:02
I believe we only have 2 Rangers home grown players in the European squad instead of the 4, Gilmour would add an extra player to the squad without taking another players spot.
Also he is a fantastic player who is still very young and will improve with regular football in a settled environment.
I very much doubt we can afford him but I think with the experience he’s gained and his quality it would be a win win for all involved to bring him home.

02 Aug 2022 14:59:21
Gilmour was a boy when he left to go on to a far better club and improve his chances of development. He'd have been mental to sign his 1st pro contract at Rangers under that regime ahead of signing for the Chelsea academy. Anyone who honestly believes otherwise is either deluded or bitter.

Still can't see him signing for us regardless. He is a top player and for that reason i really don't believe he will sign for an SPFL team. His time may be up at Chelsea under Tuchel but there will be a queue of clubs in the EPL wanting to sign him should he be available.

He had a terrible loan move last season to the wrong type of club, plus was hampered with injuries, but he is still a massive talent.

02 Aug 2022 14:59:31
whether he is better than kamara or not, or plays a role we actually need, not wanting the guy back because he left to test himself at an elite club he grew up following probably on 10x the money, is very harsh.

we weren't regularly showing a pathway for youth players back then, if at all either. if he comes back now with a permanent option it could be really shrewd business.

02 aug 2022 15:22:25
bearthere is no far better club than rangers

none.

02 Aug 2022 15:27:46
Kamara and Gilmour play in the exact same role. If we lost Kamara, and replaced him with Gilmour on a 5 year contract, I’d take that.

However, Gilmour isn’t a box-to-box type. This guy Olaru, or the other Yilmaz lad are. We should be picking one of these guys up anyway. We’re crying out for it.

02 Aug 2022 15:56:21
Listen Stormtrooper that's your opinion and we all have an opinion so stop trying to put other posters down, when you have a go at other posters disrespecting other posters opinions!

02 Aug 2022 15:58:28
Chelsea never a far better club than the famous glasgow rangers ?No not one and there never shall be one!

02 Aug 2022 15:58:54
Spanish John think you need to read back your comments mate as you said in block capitals WE SOLD HIM (our decision) . ??.

02 Aug 2022 16:02:23
Top players don’t struggle to get games for Norwich.

02 Aug 2022 16:06:25
We didn’t bring Kamara threw our youth system to sell him for buttons then buy him back for a huge fee Tom thumbs use your melon.

02 Aug 2022 16:20:43
Billy Gilmour will not be back at Rangers in the foreseeable future, I know his uncle and he has repeated on numerous occasions he will stay in England no matter what happens with Chelsea.

If Kamara does go we will go for an attacking midfielder not replace with a similar player to Lundstrum, McCann, Jack and Davis.

02 aug 2022 17:02:08
il listen to your knowledge mate.

02 Aug 2022 17:05:43
Storm, don't want to start a war of words with you, but I respectfully ask that you read again.
"Bassey a different thing WE SOLD HIM" (our decision)
Nowhere did I say we sold Gilmour.
Look forward to your reply, (no need to apologize) after all we're on the same side and entitled to our opinion. But as SWS said you don't need to try and put down other posters.
Enjoy the game tonight.

02 Aug 2022 17:15:57
To be effective Billy Gilmour needs to be in a side that controls the ball, Rangers would be perfect for him and I think he's better than Kamara.

02 Aug 2022 18:19:59
Gilmour would be a good addition but I suspect that the transfer fee would be beyond what we would be willing to pay. I do fear that he will go to Everton on a permanent move and end up in a Relegation Battle.

As to whether Gilmour is a better player than Kamara, difficult to say given that Kamara has only played in Scotland but he has excelled when playing in Europe both at Club and International Level.

As far as the bigger club scenario, we have the disadvantage of playing in Scotland. If we were playing in the EPL, Chelsea wouldn't come close!

02 Aug 2022 19:06:04
My info is Olaru is major interest to us

Also mcatee back in frame loan to buy. Around three million.

02 Aug 2022 19:33:21
Can’t see a loan with option to buy being feasible, I’d imagine Chelsea would be looking for way over £10m for him given the inflated prices paid down there. Wallpapers you’ve never heard of move between middle of the table clubs for £20m.

02 Aug 2022 19:41:13
John i think Mcatee is going to Sheffield United on a season long loan, you hearing anything about the boy Palmer from city coming to us?

02 Aug 2022 21:51:40
Mark, Palmer going nowhere.

03 Aug 2022 01:56:51
Is John not technically right on gilmour did we not receive a development fee?

03 Aug 2022 12:42:59
Rfcrb short sighted is developing players for other clubs only loans a club our size should be making is to cover serious injury or loan to buy.

03 aug 2022 13:04:32
spanish, you clearly said we sold bassey, very clearly indeed

anyone expecting lots of movement before next week?

03 Aug 2022 13:34:02
After last night's display Gilmour would be a welcome addition to our team but I would be delighted if as John says, Olaru is of interest because we need some additional quality in that team. I would also dearly love us to sign a keeper and I am disappointed that we haven't made a move to bring one in. That for me will be our weakest position once the new boys settle down.

03 Aug 2022 13:41:01
Tom, after that result/ performance last night i think we might bring in a few more players, I'd like a new keeper and mb a new striker, hopefully we can move players out this window as well.

03 Aug 2022 17:01:57
I expect a strong push to get guys out the door. Roofe, Helander, Katic, Barisic, even Kamara. I’d get rid of them all to raise cash. Then add another couple of quality players to this squad.

03 Aug 2022 20:14:35
We need a striker. God help us if Alfie gets an injury after he recovers. colak is looking like he's searching for his skants after a stag Doo in Blackpool! I hope he finds them I really Doo ?.

04 Aug 2022 00:25:31
John you sure info is right on mcatee I can't see city letting h go for 3million that's insane the are selling less promising players for 15million . don't get me wrong I hope your info correct would be a great signing. But just can't see it.

04 Aug 2022 00:28:00
All reports say mactee on loan to Sheffield John (not perm) I know there are strange goings on at Man city just now but no way they letting one of best youth assets go on cheap.

04 Aug 2022 09:58:38
Gofor I tend to agree but can only print what I know.

04 Aug 2022 10:16:44
James McAtee has been labelled the next Phil Foden. We won't be getting him on load with an option to buy at a few million - Man City would never allow that.
