Morning bears, first time post, in terms of new signings everyone better hold their breath as there will be no business unless one or all of the "famous" 5 move on or sign new deals, F5= Aribo, Buff, Kent, Barasic, Kamala.
In addition to this Gio is looking to access several existing players from Monday onwards to determine their future, Katic being the most well known but a number of the kids will be given a chance to impress with Lowry being groomed for the number 10 position to rotate with Hagi,
So immediate signing will depend on the above.
We tampered with our formation with Gio last season which worked well at times, it is my understanding that he will be working heavily on a 3 - 5 - 1 - 1 formation.
Hopefully we can push on and have a great season, but remember making up a CL squad will be difficult with the players trained at club rule and players trained in nation rule, this is why Gio is so keen to see what some of our talented kids are about.

Could be correct, it is not a case of no cash to spend we made loads last season, must be transfer funds in the bank, but it does not make sense to add additional salries to the payroll without offloading a player or two first, and this depends on offers coming in, so wouldn't trash his post.

It's a Rumours page mate so I'll go with you. I think you're right with the youth being looked at its the path that dutch have taken at other clubs hope we do look at bringing 2 maybe 3 up to full squad. Money saved and from what John and the rest on here that have been watching the b team it sounds like they are better prepared to do so. We have a player trading model so I think it would make sense to cash in on Aribo or kamara I still have a feeling buff might go this window just because he's getting to the age where if he wants a crack at one of the big leagues times ticking and he's last year of contract hope not though. Players in Gough I think we were a couple of players light last year it was probably the difference between winning more silverware and not. I think we ll bring in another striker rw and cb if helander and katic don't make the grade. Possibly a gk too depending on how much game time mcgregor us expecting. It'll probably be a couple of new players and replacements for anyone who leaves.

Not sure if this rumour is true or not
But it’s been worrying me that we have a squad to get together for the qualifying rounds and we haven’t managed to bring any new signings yet

I think this is a very sensible post apart from Kamara who signed a new contract the other 4 mentioned could easily leave if new contracts don't get signed. It's clear as day we don't have much money to spend and most of our business will be done be selling players.

With Morelos, Aribo and Kent its not about needing to sell them so we can add to the squad. Its about needing to sell them as they are entering final year of contract and if they don't sign new deals, they can leave us for free! There is no way we will allow all 3 of them to play out the season then walk away for free next summer. If they don't commit to new deals then we need to try and shift them this summer.

John, Soutar was signed last season, lovelace is unlikely to feature in the first team this season, Lowry, Arfield and Davis were all here last year, we are looking for new quality signings to boost the first eleven and take us to a new level. On that basis we have not as yet signed anyone.

I have thought we won't sign anyone untill Alfie, Kent an Aribo contract situations have been dealt with, either sign or sell for me it's that simple, ill be sad to see any one of them go but we cannot afford to let their contracts run down, for me that is the reason we have not put any significant offers in for players at this moment, obviously it's just my opinion an you could well be right sweep but I firmly believe we do have cash to spend and we will have money available for targets that's been identified be it plan A or Plan B.

John that's fair enough but this squad needs 1st team starters now. Most of them were projects that had time to settle in. We need players to hit the ground running. Celtic ain't starting as slow as they did last season and seem to have their squad together for this season. We don't know what direction we are going in going into July.

One Walter, I'm choking for us to sign new players but our squad practically as it stands were denied being Europa League champions on penalties last month, we actually have a good squad I feel it just needs a couple of right good signings and were good to go ( provided no big players leave that is )

Thestingo I think you will find it was the club and Wilson that did the business early not Gerrard and that was simply because it was mostly free signings or nominal fee. sadly it has very little to do with the manager these days I say manager should say coach. If you think about it he could be right we only really shelled out when we realised squad was not going to be good enough to stop 10. I fear getting to final was one of worst things for gio going forward and directors will penny pinch until middle of coming season to asses both our position in league and gio as a coach and are also maybe waiting to see if we make champions league. To be fair I can understand Thier thinking but I couldn't understand the false loyalty giving Davis and arfield new deals. It was the right time to invigorate the squad with fresh players we already have enough squad midfielders. It also suggests to me if we sell and like aribo or kamara that they will not be replaced. Which I'm ok with this if its intended to give the likes of Lowry a shot. Board will also be thinking of they are good enough to make final will be good enough to qualify but doesn't always work that way.

Mark44 you give them too much credit the fees we get seem to be constantly lower than what the other side of Glasgow get for transfer fees and that's nothing to do with standard of players. look at sportsound the other night bigging up Celtics chance of getting 10+ for Julien in last year of contract even with the injuries and at same time they belittle Morelos and even our own business taking lower fees than expected over the years trust me rangers will take something like 6 for aribo I don't trust Wilson or Robertson to back gio the way he deserves.

By current positions we have each added 2 additional player to squad from last season. Stephen you don't seem to understand that the board can only spend what they have, Celtic had cash in the bank for last season and we didn't.

I have to say John with Robertson saying we brought in more money from the Europa League than we could expect to get from the group stages of cl, Patterson money, Gerrard money, merchandise etc I would be seriously concerned if we had to sell before buying.
