John you mentioned previously that Sands was just using Rangers as a stepping stone on his way to signing for Man City. Any news on his move to City? Still can't get my head around how a players that can't get a game for Rangers will be signing for City :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

It won’t be till rafter loan deal, company that own city own New York.
He has to prove he can handle Europe first.

24 May 2022 10:13:55
No way did he say that lol.

Sands ain’t going to city c'mon man. He’s looked ok without standing out in anyway when playing DM. However I thought he looked very good in the dead rubber match v hearts as a ball playing CB, gave me some optimism for him going forward…Jury still out but he has something.

Great to see people on here know more than man
City coaches who recommended sands to Gio when he was shadowing pep.

Same individual slaughtered Bassey his first few games for us.

{Ed001's Note - it doesn't matter anyway, City might not want him for their first team, it could be any of their huge group of teams that they are getting him prepared for. They have clubs in a number of leagues now and they work as a group to get players for them. It allows them to hide costs and spread them out to avoid FFP regulations.}

Good to have players with ambition and confidence in their own ability.

Cheers Ed one, good insight as always from u.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome. I thought it bore pointing out as it would not be the first time they had moved players around they actually never had any intention of putting in the Man City first team. Such as Aaron Mooy, that moved from Melbourne City on a free transfer to Man City, simply so they could then sell him on and make a bit more money for FFP. They never saw him as being good enough for Man City, just an asset to sell on.}

Good insight Ed01, thanks. Akin to corporate transfer pricing.

{Ed001's Note - I will nod and pretend I have ever heard of that!}

24 May 2022 11:41:07
Great info, Ed001.
Never even knew they did that either!
I'm assuming it's "legal" in a FFP sense? But morally wrong on so many levels.

{Ed001's Note - it is technically legal, Udinese and Watford do the same thing and a number of other groups. When the other club in the Udinese-Watford ownership group was sold, (I forget which one it was but Tony Adams was involved in trying to clear up the mess) they found they actually had not one single player registered to the club as under its ownership. They were all Udinese and Watford players on loan! It nearly destroyed the club.}

No need to have a dig at john tho as johns ifo is always spot on it mustve took some reading nack on posts to hit back way that.

So City recommended james sands to gio when Sands was 17/ 18 and on loan at louisville? At the least I'd say its far fetched. Phillip Sandler written all over it.

Sands is a bit of an enigma. There is definitely a player in there. Goes about his business quietly and efficiently.

24 May 2022 15:14:28
I really rate Sands and can see him being a much bigger part in our first team next season - I think he offers the in game flexibility that we've started to see Gio implement and expect to see fully embedded for the start of next season.

24 May 2022 15:38:39
Must be Salford City he meant.

24 May 2022 16:14:32
I love MPH stats and without doing any checking myself I reckon Sands stats will be impressive esp on ball retention. He has impressed me and the massive emergence and transformation of Lundstram is why his game time has been cut. He was viewed as the player who can easily move between the CDM and CB positions during games.

24 May 2022 16:37:31
Craig please what do u mean re Salford city.

24 May 2022 16:37:47
I think he’s a hand player to have due to his versatility but hasn’t blown me away yet with any performances. Solid squad member however.

24 May 2022 19:57:50
this has been happening for years now, i'm surprised how many people don't know this, the group who own city have many players spread around the world, i'm told bt an old agent pal that even agents sometimes have difficulty explaining the situation to prospective clients.
