I don't think he's an upgrade on what we have tbh the players linked to us are underwhelming I hope RW doesn't think he can rebuild our squad with frees or cheaper buys.

I really like Souter but going to need a couple of centre backs I reckon. Hate to say it but would take anything we can get for helander. Cracking player when he’s fit but he never is. Not overly disappointed Goldson is going too. Always thought he was a bit suspect although granted last season he was brilliant.

Great signing, best CB in league this season until he got injured again. That is the only question mark over him. Hopefully some of the work he had done over recent months means he comes to us fighting fit and stays like that for the season to come. Souttar/ Bassey central defence could be immense.

Reckon we'll have a top CB lined up. Souttar seems to me like ideal replacement for Balogun. Good reliable backup. Hope he can get over injury problems or he just adds to the list.

Helander- never fit
Balogun- hardly ever fit
Souter- couldn't spell fit.
Our defence is looking good eh.
At this rate it will be Bassey and Lundstram at CB.

he definitely should have been brought in before the game at parkhead that probably ended our league hopes, soutter would have made a massive difference in that game imo
i said at the time it was a big mistake not getting him in, it left rangers short of a ch and hearts with a very unhappy player, it was nonsense and it might just have cost us the league.

Souter when fit is an excellent centre back however we will need to sign at least two more and that assumes that young King is elevated to the match day squad. We need to get rid of Simpson and Helander who is never fit and I really don't see Balogun being given a new contract.
I would expect Bassey to be our first choice left back, hence why I say we need two new quality centre backs signed in the summer.

Not even in the door and negativity starting already. Came back from serious injury to be a Scotland International. 100%er and can strike a ball. At the minute Goldson wants to leave. Souttar wants to come. Know who i'm backing.

He is a no nonsense defender that does the basics well. He has been unlucky with injury but when fit he won't look out of place plus that's a homegrown player as well. He should be 1st choice for national side when fit.

Additionally, I really hope we keep Bassey at LCB. I think it will be far easier to get in a new left back than find a new left sided CB who has the qualities of Bassey.

As mentioned previously in this thread Souttar is a very good addition providing he stays fit. I wouldn’t have Bassey at CB along side him as I think he’s a lot more affective at LB. Great engine and his delivery seems to be just getting better and better. He’s been an absolute steal!
