John, from what I've seen I'd say McCann is the better player. As you well know, if a younger guy misses the moment it is usually gone forever, it's an incredibly tough business and Kelly has blotted his copybook for one so young. He won't play for Rangers and anything around the £700k you suggest would be decent business.

Can’t really criticise the boy for not going to Hearts on loan in January after he showed loyalty staying at Ibrox in first half of season with various offers on the table. Mistake to let the boy go.

Think letting Kelly go is a mistake, but we released John Fleck and he went onto play in the premier league.
It is hard to compare Kelly with McCann but John might give us his opinion as he attends some of the B games.

John25 has stated further up in a post that he now reckons charlie McCann is in front of stephen kelly for our first team squad and now probably the better midfielder Copland 1🤔Like John25,i rate and like stephen kelly and from what i've seen of charlie mccann i like and rate him also, but i honestly wouldn't know at this stage, which one is the better midfielder 🤔.

I was a massive fan off Kelly and think he has been treated poorly,
However I see mcann as man in possession, remember we paid 750k for him, if Kelly moves on I will follow his career. No club in Scotland could afford him
I’m also told we will have a significant sell on clause.

Kelly isn't exactly a wee boy, he's 22 and still quite a bit off first team standard. And Copland1 we didn't release Fleck, he objected to his contract being transferred to the new company in 2012, therefore engineering his own departure.

We also have Cole McKinnon who I’ve not seen but know John spoke highly of him. King also appears to have the ability to play midfield with Lowry in a different role within centre mid. Therefore I think it’s time for Kelly to move on, I’ve no doubt he’ll go on to have a good career and I wish him every success.

I do like Kelly too from what I've seen of the lad, but as John and Dado and other posters are rightly saying we now seem to have a very highly thought of and talented group of young lads coming through, and whilst I'd love to see some of them progress here and knock on the first team door unfortunately for some it won't happen, but at least we are now being smart financially when moving them on. But it's a very good and healthy position to be in for the first time in years.

Such a shame if he goes. Thought the point was to send them out on loan to gain experience at a higher level than lowland league. None of our loan players ever come back to 1st team.

I think the fact that he’s no longer “a youngster†at 22 and neither GVB or SG have made him a regular tells you it’s right to move on. Hopefully he goes on to do well, however at this point in time is not of the standard required to improve our first team. £700k and a sell on would be a good deal. And sounds like we have better younger prospers ahead of him.
