I've seen a few mention Adam Armstrong, Blackburn would be a good signing to rangers.
I see they want 25 million as he only has 18 months left on contract. A goal every three games, none in Europe.
Yet many say 6-7 million Mb 12 for Alf hmmm.

John it doesn’t matter what anyone on here says pal. What matters is how much a buying club is willing to pay and selling club willing to accept. We can all debate and have options but it’s probably irrelevant. In my opinion Armstrong is not a 25 million player.

bgate, w, you are of course correct, wiling buyer and seller and all that. Think John’s point is that Morelos transfer value can be much higher than the ££6- £10m many advocated on here just a few weeks ago. His Antwerp performance combined with his effective media management changes that dramatically in favour of the selling club.

Bgate, in England that is probs the going rate for journeyman players.
Unfortunately we work in a different market and again unfortunately clubs outside Scotland don't often cough up big bucks for one of our own.

They can put that valuation because of his wages and contract details, it’s a different system down south, more agency means more cash, unlikely anyone will pay that, but

If coaches and managers know this boy will make the step up, and is a premier player then someone might pay that, he’s proven just below prem status and will have admirers,

I think we’ll get £18-£20m for Alfie with a 10% sell on clause. Remember Ross Wilson was the dof when Southampton got £75 for van dijk which at the time was unbelievable, he also got good money for others so he is a guy who holds out and gets top dollar for his players.

{Ed001's Note - he got a £15m premium due to Klopp having tapped up VVD, it was not due to anything Wilson did. In fact he managed to put both Manchester clubs and Chelsea off buying van Dijk by asking what they felt was way too much. Not that I am disagreeing with you on him doing well, just trying to fill in a bit of detail for you so you don't expect him to get ludicrous fees for Rangers players. He is not a magician and he was happy to accept less than that £75m fee, it was only because of Klopp and van Dijk's weekday getaway to Blackpool that the fee went up.}

The murky world of player transfers.
Probably goes on a lot more than we know Ed001👍.

I’m not too sure he, or any other dof can really sell players for too much more than they’re worth, football is full of coaches and chairmen who have experienced men around them,
I think Wilson is good at his job and will get the best he can, but it’s Alfie who should be deciding we’re he's going so the dof will maybe have one or two clubs to deal with and not much haggling room, only my opinion obviously

Rangers will bite the hand off anyone close to 20.

Bang on the money John25 👍 I like adam armstrong but he's never a £25million striker! I know its always an overinflated transfer market down south 🤔 Alfredo Morelos is a far better all round striker than adam armstrong and on their valuations down there if they're valuing armstrong at £25million, alfredo is worth £50million🤔.

Money agents etc have ruined the game.

01 Mar 2021 18:09:51
No way armstrong worth that, english prices insane. Only a matter of time before the bubble bursts down there.

01 Mar 2021 18:34:20
I wouldn’t hold your breath, the world craves English premiership because they have attracted the worlds best players every year, it’s a marketing masterpiece really.

01 Mar 2021 19:10:34
The media value of EPL means it will survive and continue to attract top players from all round the world. Individual clubs may get into financial difficulties if they make poor decisions inconsistent with their business model.

01 Mar 2021 21:00:38
As well as the silly fees, the wages are insane.
Straight swap for Alfredo at 25mill, would treble the wage bill for 1 player.

Good to pay all that income tax.

For me morelos value will be determined by how well he performs in the Europa league. None of the big 5 leagues will to that bothered how players play in the SPL matches as they don't rate our league. They do however rate European football and morelos has yet again enhanced his reputation. He was top scorer when we went out last season and has scored consistently since signing. This season he has improved his all round game and would most definitely have caught the attention of a few teams with his destruction of the Antwerp defence in the last 2 games. He does the same again in the next round and his value will go through the roof.

Only a matter if time before the bubble bursts? Been saying great for 20 years. No sign of it ever happening. As long as us mugs continue to pay exorbitant fees to Sky and BT. Which we will🤣.
