Just read we are apparently looking at Taiwo Awoniyi from Liverpool he is on loan at union Berlin at the mo never been in Liverpool because of work permit problems.

Agree3 Disagree0

13 Jan 2021 18:48:29
Would he be able to sort out work permit and come to us?
Never heard of him to be honest.

13 Jan 2021 18:58:17
What position is he mate and age etc?

13 Jan 2021 19:20:29
Striker and he is 23 the report said work permits are different in Scotland than England hence the reason we managed to get one for fredo before he was capped for country.

It maybe utter bs just I was messing about and seen it.
It mentioned them interested as well but that always happens.

13 Jan 2021 19:45:34
kJ unless it has changed normally Home Office who issue work permits UK wide.
Who knows re Brexit.

13 Jan 2021 20:38:46
You obviously ain’t listening to me John as it’s different in Scotland than it is in England Fredo if he went to an English club wouldn’t have got a work permit but he came here and did get one.

13 Jan 2021 22:15:02
Good for you so can you explain how it works. My understanding was that uk government control immigration and work permits.
Every day a school day.

13 Jan 2021 22:54:05
I thought the same John but I will admit I’m not claiming to be an expert on I would just assum the uk of gb and ni would all have the same immigration policy.

14 Jan 2021 00:17:50
Kja9 how do plenty of uncapped players from african/ south american countries end up in england then?

14 Jan 2021 00:30:07
I thought it was a UK policy not individual country.

14 Jan 2021 01:02:40
Scotland is covered by the Immigration, Work Permit and Visa rules set by the UK Government.
Straight from the Scottish government website.

14 Jan 2021 04:46:24
In KJA9’s defence I read the same report and it did say that work permit laws were more relaxed in Scotland compared to england.

14 Jan 2021 07:13:55
Cool broxi. I’m not disputing what kj knows. He certainly appears to know more than me.

14 Jan 2021 09:08:53
Scotland have an exemption this window from the new points based system introduced in England. All work permit cases will be overseen by an SFA tribunal whilst down South the restrictions will make it near impossible for clubs below the EPL to sign players from abroad unless they are capped at national level.

Guardian Football Weekly done a podcast on it this week, worth a listen.

14 Jan 2021 12:41:12
Thanks broxi

Don’t even know why anyone posts on here as folk only want to shoot it down it’s embarrassing really.

John has someone shat in your cornflakes the last couple of days? You seem to be a lot more grumpy than normal lol.

14 Jan 2021 12:42:09
Herewego I have no idea maybe the have dual
Nationally imagine that eh 🤭.

14 Jan 2021 13:06:12
Pot kettle black comes to mind KJA9👍.

14 Jan 2021 14:04:33
So72, if these decisions are going to be made by an SFA tribunal (a non-government body) then it will make it even more difficult for Rangers to sign players. I've never actually known before that a committee not attached to the government can decide who can and cannot come to work in this country, but there you go.

14 Jan 2021 15:28:36
Fgs kJ how am I grumpy sticking up for u. I said u know more about it than me. Is that not the case.

14 Jan 2021 15:29:37
Tavs that’s been policy for years. Not done us any harm.

14 Jan 2021 17:13:57
It’s on other posts aye you seem to be a bit grumpy the last couple of days that’s all lol.

14 Jan 2021 18:13:56
kJ my lady says I was born grumpy.

14 Jan 2021 19:38:21
😂 I am grumpy and bored right now John back on furlough too much time on my hands at the moment.

15 Jan 2021 00:18:57
That wasnt a dig either kj mate, just pointing out there is plenty uncapped players in england, you put forward a case why u think the player should be allowed in. I agree with u tho, bu looks of things it's only going to get tougher permits wise from here on in 👍.

15 Jan 2021 21:21:52
Awoniyi played 75 mins for Union Berlin v Bayer Leverkusen tonight but failed to make any impact and was played in the no 9 position.
If the rumour is true then obviously SG and Ross Wilson see him as a player with potential.
