Defoe is fit, he’s no longer injured. Big difference in being fit and being match fit, he’s behind the others and playing catch up. He won’t be rushed back as we have more choices this year up top.

Defoe is not our saviour he doesn’t have the legs anymore, anyone who has played the game knows what that is like. Footballing brain still works but if the legs can’t do what the brain wants, it’s pretty much game over. It has been there for all to see in his last games. Not ruling him out all together, class player will still grab a chance or two.

For those that don’t understand, Defoe is well past his best, it’s not that hard to see, but he was top class, and is not yet ready to hang up his boots, there is life in the old dog yet, hence will still bag a few goals for us. Class is class and Defoe was amongst the best, he still has the footballing brain, just the legs are struggling to do what his brain asks. Not that hard to understand unless of course you have never played the game.

He has adapted his game though as he rarely runs the channels or in behind now. He basically uses his great movement inside the box and his sharpness physically (when match fit) and mentally to take his chances. He’s past his best but still a very good striker who’s teetotal attitude and vegan diet keep him in Good shape for his age.

Hi guys I just want to say all these players that we (rangers) are still getting linked with, then I wish SG would go and get the Dutch and Danish speedsters and the Spanish boy who took us apart along with a top quality striker or 2 top quality strikers as Defoe is getting on in age, as I keep saying the likes of nsame from young boys who knows where the goals are even if we have to pay £15m or more to get him in as he would tear the other teams apart especially the rubbish from the other end of Glasgow. Another striker to get in would be either dyzuba or sabitzer who I really like as they also know how to score goals too. There's not long till the window closes.
