Mcgregor, Davis Defoe sign new deals.

Agree2 Disagree0

10 Dec 2019 17:47:49
Have Bournemouth done a deal to let Defoe sign in January.

10 Dec 2019 18:01:30
Doubt it, we would need to pay a fee. He can sign bosman in January.

10 Dec 2019 19:42:55
No saying Defoe is not a good player but paying thousands a week, for a guy to sit mainly on the bench imo is not good business.
Surely better using his wage on a younger striker with a sell on value.

10 Dec 2019 20:22:25
Signing a younger player would be fine but they need game time to get better/ improve. We know exactly what we're getting with Defoe. A great signing.

10 Dec 2019 20:56:59
John, I think these new deals are a good thing, rather than trying to replace like for like, as it would cost millions, plus the youngsters have been doing brilliant, right throuout the academy, point being surely some of the youngster must start getting first team football, after all they have won plenty, including playing men's teams in the tun nicks cup, and still going strong, I know a few have been training wit h the 1 st team.

10 Dec 2019 22:01:15
Paul most young players not ready yet.

10 Dec 2019 22:22:25
John, can't be much longer surely mate. loads of club are now using youngsters earlier in games. if your good enough. your old enough, but like yourself pal we will leave that to stevie g, he is doing a great job, best since sourness imo.

11 Dec 2019 00:25:25
Dont underestimate the influence Defoe has had on Morelos and probably other young strikers at the club. Morelos improvement this season has been remarkable from all aspects. His attitude and mentality have probably improved more due to the manager and his staff speaking to him but his striker play in general will have improved by having guys like Defoe about. He's not picking up thousands a week to just sit on the bench. He's a great influence about the club and still more than capable on the pitch.

11 Dec 2019 07:25:34
Every player gets paid to sit on the bench, don’t get what you’re saying, Defoe is more than a player also.

11 Dec 2019 08:29:40
Moc story goes that we r putting Defoe through coaching badges.

11 Dec 2019 08:40:04
So we pay a guy £65k a week to mentor Morelos! With the wages and lifestyle on offer one shouldn’t need any other motivation.

11 Dec 2019 02:16:03
Unfortunately I don't think many of the boys are good enough tho most of them are a lot younger than the level they are playing at. a lot of 17/ 18yo in the U23s. Hopefully with Wes and Firth contracts up at the end of the season Robby can kick on and be 2nd choice and breakthrough just like McGregor did all those years ago but unfortunately Ross isn't even getting game time at Portsmouth do t think we'll see him in a rangers shirt again.

11 Dec 2019 09:01:19
The Muppet, I don't claim to be in the know but we are not paying Defoe 65k a week. Especially not on any new deal.

11 Dec 2019 09:34:05
Defoe has agreed to take a massive paycut to play for us. He must just really enjoy playing for Rangers, you wouldn't think at his age you'd be playing for a club that's this big and also playing European football. He seems quite happy letting Morelos take the lead striker role and is happy to fill in. I think he's been a great signing he can score goals and his attitude and professionalism will be good for the guys to be around especially Alfredo.

11 Dec 2019 10:33:09
Muppet and Kyle, I know what you r saying re Defoe salary, however I’m told he has been identified as a potential replacement for gerrard in future.
I don’t think we will be paying him a salary of more than 25k.
Before people say he has never managed at any level, think, Greig, McCoist gerrard, I’m told everyone is impressed how he conducts himself.
And note my key phrase potential replacement.
We need real guys who are respected in the game.
Callum I share your view on Ross, Leeds very interested.

11 Dec 2019 12:49:44
No wonder you're called muppet, pal. £65k a week? Jog on. I suppose Davis is on £55k and Tavernieer on £50k then?

11 Dec 2019 13:52:07
John25 i was actually making the point to Muppet that he won't be on 65k a week probably no where near that as he has agreed to taking a substantial paycut. As for him being a Coach/ player this was proven to be speculation. We are offering him a contract purely on a playing basis and i don't believe he is looking to get into coaching quite yet, although this could be a possibility in the near future.

11 Dec 2019 15:05:02
Kyle my info, he starts his coach’s badges June.

11 Dec 2019 16:39:23
John25 il take your word for it, as i said it is possible in the near future however the deal he is currently getting is on a playing basis only.

11 Dec 2019 17:18:56
Don’t disagree with that, he can do badges without our permission.

11 Dec 2019 18:16:08
Hahahahah were lucky if we pay 20k of defoe 85k a week deal.

11 Dec 2019 19:59:16
Defoe can’t sign for anyone as he is under contract to Bournemouth until end of season. He can sign a Pre Contract in January for next season which he will be offered and is sure to sign.
Next years contract will not be on £65k per week but likely to be closer to £20k if even that.
He has had a great influence on Morelos and a lot of the younger players, he also knows where the net is and is very fit for his age due to Vegan diet and alcohol free lifestyle.
Brilliant signing once it’s actually done on Jan 1st onwards.

11 Dec 2019 21:02:59
John25, I was reading online that Defoe is being kept at I roc, to take the managers job when Steven Gerard eventually moves on, I think it was a blog? But was define toy a Rangers site, so I don't think it was anybody just fooling around, the writer sounded pretty sure, what's your thoughts on that pal. sorry about the typing sometimes, it's that auto spelling thing, and ime not sure how to change it back, lol.

12 Dec 2019 01:41:48

12 Dec 2019 17:29:00
All these super young players we have and big teams sniffy round, when was the last time any were picked for the first team?

14 Dec 2019 17:32:22

15 Dec 2019 01:03:26
