Rangers remove Hummel as official retail partner.

SPORTS DIRECT REINSTATED.

Even though the injunction takes place next season!

What a truly awful mess! Board need to clarify this NOW!

Definitely does need to be a statement from the club
Honestly why is it always our club these past few years getting themselves into stupid situations
One step forward two back at every turn

Fed up reading about these silly situations we keep finding ourselves in

And I don’t think Morelos will be going anywhere no one wants him seriously
Therefore the board better not be banking on getting millions for him this season.
My opinion anyway.

It's not the current board's fault the previous bunch of crooks sold us down the river for a quick buck. I am hopefully that a resolution can be found. Notable that the BBC and STV still haven't mentioned it; that would say to me that there isn't much factual basis, while the legal battle continues.

Sports direct injunction prevents rangers from making any statement.

Souness this mess is the current boards mess king paid off SD. then started selling strips. To then find out he's still in the wrong even after payin off ashley. What was that pay off even for?

01 Aug 2019 15:16:56
Souness have to agree with Paul86.
This current mess is the current boards fault for not carrying out the agreement on the contract with the fat geezer and SD. All james blair the secretary and co had to do was ask SD if they were willing to match the offer. Didn't mean to say we had to go with them! Pure amateurish by our board and the lies they told and james blair knew he had made a rip roaring c**t of it and tried to pay ashley off, by offering him £1million. Stop getting away from the here and now souness, as they most definitely are too blame for this kit/ retail mess, we now find ourselves in! Wake up and smell the coffee pal.

Not often we agree Coop but I think your 100% correct.

01 Aug 2019 16:36:19
The deal with Ashley was set-up by the previous board memebers though - did you forget that small detail?

01 Aug 2019 16:36:57
sgl calm down a bit mate we all feel bad over this but look at the facts we must pay court fees ok now we have to sit down and work a deal with sports direct yes? so make a deal with them its in everybodys interest is it not? not who we would like to but have to so most certainly won't be 7p in the pound or whatever it was? do you think they might just want the blue pound being spent in their shops? or just take some compo? will be a very interesting outcome . as it stands it doesn't suit anyone so deals will be done that is for sure.

I may be wrong on this so don’t quote me, but I believe what may of happened was something along these lines. After the original agreement was ripped up (paid off) we went looking for a new supplier and retail partner. We then negotiated the offer with Hummel, this was then originally put to Sports Direct as per terms of agreement but SD then (probably purposely) dragged their heels coming back with any response. Reason being as they had to be given the opportunity to match the offer, if they dragged out whether or not to match the deal for long enough Hummel (or anyone else) would leave the table leaving us with no choice but to use SD at whatever terms they were offering. We, realising this was what was happening and not wanting to be stuck with SD any longer, took a calculated risk to go with Hummel, allowing us to make money off of strip sales and retail over the next 5 years (the remaining period of the SD deal), also allowing our fans to have strips to wear, against whatever damages we may have to pay after the (probably expected) court case.
I don’t think there will be a quick answer or resolve to any of this, the club won’t be able to say much right now for legal reasons, but I have a feeling that in the long run this won’t end up as bad as the “press” are trying to make it out to be right now. Again I stress this is mostly conjecture and me piecing things together from bits and pieces I’ve heard so may not be the case. But I do have the feeling that the what is currently happening won’t be too much of a surprise to our board and was probably anticipated and already planned for as an outcome.

We are quickly turning into a laughing stock again. I'm sick fed up of getting stupid messages from my tim supporting mates. I think tho that if SD matched the deal, we were legally obliged to go with them. This is purely Ashley sticking his fingers up at King, as he knows deep down he wouldn't sell any kit. Incidentally, does anyone know when we can get rid of Ashley once and for all (legally)?

01 Aug 2019 16:52:52
SGL

I think you will find that if SD had been shown the Hummel/ Elite deal and they matched it we WERE legally bound by the previous deal to go with SD, that’s why the board never let them see the deal with Hummel/ Elite as they didn’t want to enter into another contract with them.

01 Aug 2019 18:02:07
Souness, I haven't forgotten any small details pal, you have. Remember the original deal that was signed when charles green and co were there was ripped up and king and the current board, had negotiated a much more beneficial deal for the club.
All we had to do like i said earlier was give them the chance, to match any new deal with any new kit manufacturer/ retail partner. It was part of the new deal and we didn't do it. Why can't you understand this mate?

01 Aug 2019 18:09:08
Still doesn't make it correct mate, as it was written in the contract we had to give SD this chance to match. that's why we're now in this mess, which has been very amateurishly handled by people running this side of things at our club. The other staggering thing is our people thought they were hoodwinking ashley. Not a chance.

01 Aug 2019 18:46:54
only paid ashley off for his shares and to get out of strip deal but gave them option to match deal. ashley is just a wee angry man who has to bring these cases to make himself feel important think he likes media attention. what else do guys that are already minted want really.

01 Aug 2019 20:43:22
ger78, stop making up scenarios you want to believe. The board either didn't now the terms of the contract or the terms of the pay-off or worse; did but didn't think Ashley would notice. Either way a major lack of professionalism by the board. Be in no doubt, DK knew what was being done, or more likely, initiated it.

It's okay Karma is s great thing The more Mike Ashley tries to keep a grip with us the more he is about to be stung himself I really do believe this His empire is about to be affected He has messed with the wrong club We just need to get the fans and supporters on our side Get petitions signed and brand his company about on how badly run it and and how he treated staff terribly in the past!

Hes in for a shocker Thinks due to him having plenty cash that he csjt be touched Your reputation is on the line and don't you know it! he's in court fir many other things I do think something got to give WATCH THIS SPACE! 🤞.

02 Aug 2019 09:01:51
No one knows the real story It could be that Rangers had a deal with Hummel and gone to Mike Ashley to see if he can match it Of course, there is every chance at that point that he might've made Rangers stew, as to not give up on the current deal that he robbed us with (Every £1 only being 7p to the Club) and the hope that Hummel would pull the plug as the negotiations were "tied" up on SD's side

We will never know the truth but what I will say is there is going to be more people on the Clubs side than Mike Ashley I reckon he is a thorn in the side in the public eye!

He has court battles with a few things now and its only a matter of time that he going to see his Sales not doing so well

Mike Ashley has bitten off more than he can chew So its now time for him to stew!

02 Aug 2019 09:23:05
sgl. souness is right. wait a minute where have I heard that before.

02 Aug 2019 12:46:28
Thanks Eric! Some folk on here are too busy bumping their gums over The Sun to actually see what's going on.
