Ed im the guy that posted about the take over takin to long. fair comment . ie. your response. just a bit concerned wih the delay. {Ed001's Note - it takes a long time, you have to remember that the takeover has to be watertight with regards to the tax investigation. In other words they want to be absolutely clear who will be responsible for any fines etc that have to paid and that has to be drawn up by lawyers. Then checked over by lawyers for the other party, who will no doubt pick up on a few things they want changed etc etc. It takes time.}

Anyone that thinks there is not problems with the take over need to wise up. look at the liverpool.man city.newcastle.blackburn.birmingham.man u ect takeovers. completed in reasonable time scales.how longs the whyte takeover going on now? {Ed001's Note - all those takeovers took months, don't be fooled by the media talk of them being completed quickly, an agreement was reached quickly but nothing else. There is a lot more to sort out with Rangers having a tax case hanging over their heads. You do know that Robinho was bought by ADUG as a good faith payment months in advance of a takeover actually being completed don't you?}

IF we were to win the Europa League, it would go down in Scottish history alongside the feat of Jock Stein et al in 1967.
I would personally like the Rangers to win every competition entered (as we did in 1929) but I think that's unreasonable. I would also like us to top the league winning every game on the way (we're the only team in the world to have done that) but I think that's also unreasonable these days.
I think the chances of us winning the SPL or the Europa are about the same. 50/ 50? Maybe less.
But I never stop believing. And neither should any of you Bears.

The 2012/ 13 places are calculated on results in seasons 2006/ 07 to 2010/ 11.
Scotland are provisionally in 15th place, while Switzerland, who have no teams left in European competition, are in 16th place.
The 15th-placed country is given two Champions League places, but 16th only receives one.
Scotland were in 16th place for the current season, which means only the Scottish Premier League champions will enter Europe's premier club tournament next season.
Rangers' recent Champions League campaign, in which they finished third in their group, and progress to the last 16 of the Europa League, via an away goals victory over Sporting on Wednesday, have strengthened Scotland's coefficient.

Don't know how many times Ed and other posters have clarified the position. No comment can be made by Rangers or the Whyte camp until the deal is either completed, or the deal is dead. As such, no conclusions can be drawn.
Martin Bain's comments yesterday were to the effect that Rangers had to move forward as a business by making decisions for the future now, based on the position the club is in now, and not on what may or may not happen with the proposed takeover.
So there is nothing to read into this appointment

Come on guys, no point in linking us with big names. We've already been told Whyte will run a tight ship. No more crazy spending or we'll end up where we are now. The wage budget will probably increase to over £20m a season but we have to be realistic. Exciting times, though, and i believe this takeover will happen before May but i'm just speculating. I'm not going list all my favourite hidden gems on Football Manager and say we should sign them or are interested in them, i'll leave that to others. .

Ed do you reckon we could get pirlo because you mentioned earlier you thought gattuso would return. Gattuso however for the spl would be great, he's better than any Celtic midfielder.
Someone also mentioned Pirlos on about 80k I reckon it's more like 40-50k and he would take a pay cut if gattuso could convince him

It was widely reported back in December that Dylan McGeough had completed his undercover stint behind enemy lines and will be coming home in the summer.
Not actually sure if the clubs confirmed it though.

I have also heard this rumour, and it can only be a rumour, reason being MIH are in as much a financial mess as rangers are just now, can't honestly see mr murry having a spare £51 million lying around to pay Rangers tax bill, the charge is against RFC and not MIH and I doubt MIH would be able to source the funds to pay this off, this is a government debt and not something that can just be signed over to another company, don't know for sure just my oppinion!
The charge is actually against MIH not Rangers Plc. MIH are in heavy debt and as Rangers are a part of MIH that is why the bank is denying them money. If some people could use some logic Rangers as a football club are in £22million debt, previously the bank always had the confidence that MIH could cover the debt however the bank no longer feel they can so restricted spending. Rangers profits are being used to help stabilize MIH. Any potential tax bill will be cvered by MIH- the payments were made through another Murray business not direct from Rangers.

You cannot just release a player to get out of paying his wages- by releasing him you pay them off.

The Daily Records Gary Ralston is reporting that the responsibility for the impending HMRC tax case has been taken as the responsibility of Murray International Holdings and Lloyds and not that of Rangers Football Club

Re: The Diouf situation, isn't it more to do with the club wanting rid of him asap rather than the length of his Blackburn contract? I thought that was why WS only signed him on a short term deal, to see if he could behave/ handle playing for Rangers. If he knuckles down Rangers can sign him for nothing in the summer as Blackburn will release him. If their manager says he has a future at blackburn couldn't they be doing with him just now? Just a thought, but he was offered around Europe all window even to Celtic but no one wanted him? It's time he grew up and realised he is in last chance saloon. Listen you simpleton! Diouf has 18 months left on his contract, Blackburn has not said anything otherwise. It was confirmed when Rangers signed him on loan that he had 18 months left and rangers would have to pay to sign him permanently in the summer.

A simple search on google will link to several articles which clearly state Diouf has 18 months left on his existing Blackburn contract.
Blackburn were listening to offers in January as they "could not control the player". Willie McKay is his agent and stated "there is a lot of interest".

He has 18 months left on his blackburn contract but blackburn don't want him so the fee will not be much, the wages on the other hand are we are just paying a small percentage of his wages. the total wages are outside our budget so he would have to take a pay cut if he wants to stay.

I wasn't being cheeky or facetious, I was only pointing out what editors, myself and countless others have posted. It is a fact that no discussion, statement or press release can be put in the public domain under stock marker regulations. I was comparing the endless "insider" posts with the Robbie Keane rumours on the Celtic page. Everyone seems to know everything until alas nothing happens. When/ if the takeover happens, the media will be saturated with facts/ opinions etc. Until then, anyone posting that they know the inside "scoop" are either lying or jepordising their job and the possible take over. Doing this would result in a heavy fine for the party who divulged information. Am I correct Ed?

Neither Rangers or Whyte are allowed to comment, so there is nothing to substantiate that a takeover is looking promising for March. Why can't people understand this, it is just media hype for the gullible and unwary.
And the difference between the clubs in England that are facing investigations and Rangers, is that Rangers are already in severe financial difficulties, with all decisions having to be sanctioned by Lloyds, so a fine by the Taxman of say £30m will make the situation far, far worse and take Rangers to breaking point.
Chelsea for example would simply pay the fine and get on with it, with no real pressure on their business.

The bbc is only writing this story because they are a news buisness. They need to write stories to make sales or internet hits. Craig Whyte is still in talks with rangers as the stalk exchange has not been informed. It is taking so long due to the HMRC case. No 1 has a date for it ending yet due to no 1 knows if its going to court yet, and if it does they need to set a date and if it goes to court there will probs be appeals after the first verdict so how can any 1 possibly know whats happining appart from the people that dealing with it?? ?? ?? ?

I think it's a bit of a non story by the BBC. As Ed has continually said, under stock market confidentiality rules, no-one will know what the outcome is until either Whyte and Rangers announce the deal is dead or that the deal is done. The fact that no announcement has been made means that Whyte and Rangers are still in negotiations, and the BBC are using this to say that Whyte is still hoping to buy the club. It really is a non story.

James Beattie has came out and said that his time at Rangers was the worst of his career. He went on to say he had never experienced a club so badly run and with such a deluded squad of players. A wee note to the editor if I may- you obviously never seen Diouf play for Bolton he was one of their key players under allardyce for many years and was starting for blackburn week in week out. Ed whats your opion on diouf {ed's note - I think he spends far too much time trying to upset the opposition and not enough time trying to play football. I have only ever seen him play well once, which is the most frustrating thing, he has mental issues as well. Everywhere he has gone he has left under a cloud and with the dislike of former team mates. But the right management could be all he needs to actually perform to his best. The thing is, he is excellent in the air, strong, quick, good technique, good vision, excellent crosser of the ball, good range of passing and can beat his man with a trick. But he gets distracted when the ball is in the air and is too busy fouling other players to actually head the ball if it reaches him. His technique goes to pot because he loses concentration when anyone is near him as he is looking for opportunities to have a dig at them rather than just worrying about getting the ball and what he can do with it. He is going to drive you lot mad, I guarantee it.}

The move comes as Diouf attempts to recover from the latest in a long line of scandals which have repeatedly rocked his career.
Just last month he was told his Ewood Park career was over after he was accused of taunting Jamie Mackie as the stricken Scotland striker lay on the pitch with a broken leg during an FA Cup tie.
QPR boss Neil Warnock launched a furious attack on Diouf after the match branding him lower than a sewer rat and Blackburn manager Steve Keane then launched his own internal probe.
Within days, it was clear that the Lancashire outift had decided to ditch Diouf in the January window but they failed to strike a player plus cash deal with West Brom for another Scotland international Graham Dorrans.
The 30-year-old was also linked with a move to Turkey but as the options fell through Diouf was facing a long stretch on the sidelines until Walter Smith stepped in at the eleventh hour today with the offer of a short term deal at Ibrox.
Diouf is already a hate figure with Celtic supporters after he was caught spitting on a Parkhead fan when playing for Liverpool in a UEFA Cup tie in 2003.
Now hes set to return to the city at a crunch stage in the season and could make his debut AGAINST Celtic in this weekends Scottish Cup derby.
