Nick Powell needs to be the no.10 we go for in my opinion, last 6 months of his contract at Wigan so potentially pre contract or maybe a deal this month. This and Ryan Kent on permanent should be the only two other deals we need.

but i personally think that steven davis will play as our midfield playmaker, in a more deeper role! Of course your quite right davis has got the no.10 jersey, but doesn't mean he'll be playing as our out and out, no.10!I still think we need a creative, goalscoring no.10,to play just in behind our lone striker or 2 strikers, whichever the case maybe.
Ryan kent IMHO could easily play as our no.10 and i hope to god we can keep kenty, on a permanent deal! Kent is a fantastic player. As our song goes, "KENT, KENT WILL TEAR YOU APART AGAIN"! Another good shout as quite a few have suggested, is Wigan's nick powell, as our no.10!Thats all we would need in transfers for january.

Same coops i thimk davis will play in a role he knows best centre midfield i'm not saying he isn't creative but i think we will still need a creative attacker to play behind strikers.

there is 2 problems with nick powell, he is very injury prone and seems to hide on big occasions, much like Windass did

he didn't get a break at man utd a few years back but the noise at the time was he couldn't cope with the expectations

i would stay clear of him.

@supercooper are u now changing Gerrard formation and tactics to fit in a luxury player. As it stands we do not and will not play with a number 10. Just look at the Liverpool model with klopp which Gerrard has clearly been influenced by. They play with a dmf and 2 box to box type midfielders which allows the front 3 to do most of the damage. The problem we have is the only real b2b we have is airfield however Davis will be the 2nd.

Ibviously feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but to play with an out and out amf or number 10 would mean a change of formation from 433 to a more attacking 4213 in which case we would really be needing 2 dmf to start to accommodate the amf.

Ofc all just my opinion but playing 433 with a number 10 is suicide hence why not many top successful teams play this way.

Coop because steve Davis has the number 10 shirt it dosnt say he WONT play creative . He certainly has that and listening to Stevie Gs interviews that's the plan.

Shinnie is a good player, and says before i would like us to sign him. But we have a lot centre midfielders at the club so i doubt it.

I read some of these comments and I despair. We DON'T NEED backup players, we need players who are better than, or have the potential to be better than, those we already have, who would then become the backup! That's the only way forward, so that's Bryson ruled out, makes Shinnie a 95% No, leaves Shankland where he is, makes Moult a no-no, and ensures that all the while our manager can concentrate in signing the Defoes and Davises of this world - real quality to enhance the first team along with a couple of others who have genuine potential to enhance our team.

Shinnie told Tommy Doc ( sheep assistant manager ) a few weeks back that the deal was all but signed

although Shinnie wouldn't be a 1st pick in any position i would take him. every club needs utility players.

Surely mccrorie is a better option in midfield, I would be gutted if he left and was replaced by any of the names above. Totally agree with asayouth👍.

Now here's a question; there are rumours that a big offer might be coming in for Tav if he goes, who would we prefer as Captain with Davis being an ex Captain of our club, would we rather have Jack, Davis, Goldson, McGregor or someone else?

We won't be selling any players unless a offer we can't refuse gets offered. And i really doubt tav wants a move away just now any way. So he will be the captain to lift the trophy at the end of the season!
