Having read dave kings's statement again and digested it thoroughly, there's a good few hints in there guys! The glaring hint for me is, when he clearly mentions stability on the manager situation and the next manager will be a guy the board can trust to take the club forward! A lot think the statement is the death knell for graeme murty here, whereas i think the total opposite!

I think the board and our director of football mark allen think that graeme murty will offer the stability without this continual chopping and changing of the manager! Therefore i personally think still, that graeme murty will be the next permanent rangers manager!

I also think dave king has been clever in his statement, as it will motivate murty and the players even more to finish the season strong, as the job could still be his, especially with the way king has worded the statement! I'm telling you fellow bears our next permanent manager, is the guy who's currently the manager,
graeme murty! Watch this space!

09 Apr 2018 23:20:52
Graeme Murty will not be manager next season!

10 Apr 2018 06:07:31
Not saying you're definitely wrong here RonnieR9,but i wouldn't be so sure mate! that's all i'm saying!

10 Apr 2018 07:44:59
Coops there is another way you can look at this statement he says progress on the pitch has not been as good as he hoped he also wants the best possible manager for the club
and provide stabilty to the manager postion.
If murty was going to get the job then why wait till the summer to provide all of this he could have anounced it this week and gave the player and murty a boost ahead of old firm game.
i really do think deboer will get the job as our new manager

10 Apr 2018 08:42:19
Murtys already been told he's not going past the summer.

We've been in dialogue with FBD for a while now, originally it was what we could offer vs what he would want to take the job.

For me its a no brainer. If a player is from the outside looking in who do you want to play for? Graeme Murty or Frank De Boer?

FDB all day. Plus he has the credentials for coping with demanding supporters, tried to implement a style of play at CP and got 10 games? CP are a basket case of a club as it is anyways.

It's FDB.

10 Apr 2018 09:24:15
Frank de boer is a good manager but i honestly think slaven bilic would be an even better choice and of course like de boer, he is also a free agent!

10 Apr 2018 09:29:53
Frank De Boer, sacked at Inter Milan after 85 days. Sacked at Crystal Palace after 77 days

10 Apr 2018 09:23:15
If we win on Sunday and finish second in league Murty will get the job on permanent basis. No logical reason why this would not be the case and rightly so. Supercoop is correct that the statement by DK is designed to galvanise and create strong performance on Sunday. We now need to shut up (including the players) and quietly go about our business preparing for Sunday.

10 Apr 2018 09:43:19
Why do folk think deBoer is the answer, his track record in management is questionable to say the least!

10 Apr 2018 10:07:44
Statement was just an effort to improve supporter morale on the day season ticket renewals are out.

Cleverly worded in a way that gives hope to people who want Murty and people who want a change.

10 Apr 2018 10:25:50
deBoer got 85 days at Inter and 5 games at Palace, hardly a fair reflection of what he was trying to impose on the respective teams.

10 Apr 2018 10:52:26
4 League titles in Holland, better record than any other Manager we have had in years! I don't see many other candidates who would be willing to come to us with those credentials. People asking for Neil Warnock who has never really managed a club anywhere near the level of Ajax. I think De Boer is the perfect fit and have said it before we went for Pedro.

10 Apr 2018 10:51:09
There is a worry that King words the statement suggesting a new man to help with the season tickets and then cops out after and takes the cheap option with Murty. Still think he will go for a new name as the uproar amongst fans would be epic proportions.

10 Apr 2018 11:09:48
Goalie as i said the other night about deboer he was never giving a fair chance at inter and palace just look at what he done at ajax winning titles.
As for bilic has club managment career ain't very good either part from one season at west ham

10 Apr 2018 11:31:53
Craig there is no doubt he had a good record at Ajax. What was his budget there? i'm a fan of Murty and would give him the same budget Pedro wasted ( apart from Candias )

10 Apr 2018 11:40:19
I am struggling to establish who I would like to see as our next boss, although Deboer played for us is it the right route to go down at this present time, don’t we need an immediate impact manager to halt the eastenders on there route to 10 in a row? I think Deboer would be better suited to come in without the stress of a potential 10 in a row and be able to build his football philosophy from grass roots right through.

10 Apr 2018 12:41:09
Think it will be Murty. Deboer will want big budget which I don't think we have. Give Murty a few million and think he will do something. Could be wrong and big name may come in.

10 Apr 2018 14:26:23
FDB has a better winrate percentage than Rodgers, and that's with his two stints at Inter and Palace.

I don't bank on that alone as being a good reason but considering his fit at Ajax and compare that to us its not too far away expectation wise.

The given would be it would mean a greater backing than Murty purely due to the differences in style.

Before anyone drones on about 4-3-3 again and recalls a manager who had an inability to have a plan B, FDB is not like that he's got previous for adapting his team to deal with opponents as well.

10 Apr 2018 17:15:27
Goalie from what i can see deboer spent 2.5 million on a couple players each season at ajax and there was the odd one over this amount.
but rest of squad was younsters who he devoloped and sold on for good fees and some free players and loans.
Sohe never spent a fortune assembling the ajax teams that one him titles plus he brough a lot of funds in with player sales.

Before people say we can not afford a couple players at that kind of money look at pena herrera morelos cummings murphy these are all decent amounts of money then there wages on top with likes of sendoros kranjcar barton alves all picking up good wages aswell but hardly playing we certainly have had money to spend and will have funds again in the summer

No disrespect to murty but i think he will struggle to attract a better quality of player where deboer or any other bigger name manager could attract better quality.
Just look at celtic some players are only there because it is rodgers in charge and want play under him

09 Apr 2018 17:24:47
Not what i would regard as a rumour but Murty wil not be manager next season,
My son is friendly with a first team player (scottish) and i will not reveal his name to save him grief, But the team and Murty know it is only until end of season.

He has a contract until then only.
He was not given a 1 yr or any other contract it was purely until end of season.

Murty is popular amongst the team and powers that be and is to be offered improved terms on his under 20s role to continue there.

Disagree if you like but watch this space.

09 Apr 2018 18:55:23
I think everybody and their dog knew it was only a contract until the end of the season as that's what it was. No big secrets there pal.

09 Apr 2018 18:59:38
Murty has a great future in the game but probably in a coaching roll? King basically told us all today a new man will be in charge soon and let’s get behind Murty and win the cup! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

10 Apr 2018 12:50:28
Kenny Miller to st Mirren or Kilmarnock

10 Apr 2018 15:27:01
Why are we not clamouring for Steve Clarke, its a no brainer surely?!

09 Apr 2018 12:13:26
This isn't straight from the horse's mouth, it's from the hand that feeds the horse. Mark Allen has already met our next manager three times this year, twice along with another director. Two of these meetings took place in London and one in Spain. The man they met was Mikel Arteta.

09 Apr 2018 12:39:07
Absolutely no chance are they going to go for a man that has never managed a club. that's why murty will not be in charge next season.

09 Apr 2018 14:30:42
Never managed a club been number 2 etc that's how steve clarke started num 2 now people on here want him so wats the diff every so called number 2 who wants to be a manager have to start somewer so why not de boer with arteta

09 Apr 2018 14:42:38
Could be credible, given that Allen was City's chief of recruitment. Arteta know's what it takes to be a Ger and the demands of the club.
Arteta has had 2 years under Guardiola now learning the ropes and what a fantastic mentor that is to have.
Would also potentially allow a tap into City's reserves / fringe players needing game time to enhance their prospects. Maybe not a bad shout, but hard to see him giving up his role at City

09 Apr 2018 14:51:07
arteta. utter mince. there’s no way we are going to take another chance on an unproven manager with no experience

after coisty warbs and pedro with mccall and murty twice also having been in charge i think it’s maybe time we start living in the real world and go out and hire a proper experienced manager capable of handling the pressure and expectation at a huge club

N. B arteta also left under a cloud citing homesickness then ended up at Everton . showed his true colours chasing the coin is that who we really want in charge when the going gets tough?

what about neil warnock davy moyes or steve clarke?

09 Apr 2018 16:24:03
I don’t think this is true Arteta has been linked with Arsenal I can't see him up here

09 Apr 2018 17:25:49
Arteta doesn't like the cold British climate, that's why he left rangers, but the ££s on offer at Everton made it more tolerable, no thanks.

09 Apr 2018 21:51:12
He not a fan of the weather and climate here? How do you know this? I'd say he don't mind it that much as he has lived hear in Britain since 2002 apart from 1 year back in Spain So I'd guess he pretty used to it now.

09 Apr 2018 22:33:17
Deanobear, i remember reading this in rangers news, when we used to have it. he was quoted say so about the weather! I will never forget reading that.

09 Apr 2018 00:13:27
For me Miller's time as a player is done BUT for the sheer professionalism and work ethic I'd hate to see him let go. Get him in as a coach.

09 Apr 2018 09:36:21
36 years old and still scoring goals, why is he done?

09 Apr 2018 09:58:41
I'd give him another year. He's not on big wages anymore and he's a great influence on his team mates

09 Apr 2018 10:59:32
Is miller not already doing some coaching work with younsters?

09 Apr 2018 11:02:41
I thought he might get Murty's old job, but since he wants to keep playing then it's 'thanks for your service Kenny but cheerio'

09 Apr 2018 11:49:51
Miller is 37 and yes still scores goals occasionally but is bad for getting dragged out of position and not linking up well. It’s a hard call would be better suited to a youth coach but if he wants to keep playing then maybe we could leave the door open for him to come back in some role. At the end of the day he has been a great servant to the club but for us too move forward we need younger players and his wage could be used to help fund another younger hungry player. I just hope that we get the next manager right and get that title back where it belongs!

09 Apr 2018 13:07:47
Agree with highland bear. He drops far to deep into midfield these days and is well out of position too often. He’s even said he wants to continue playing and have regular game time so he won’t stay to warm the bench. We’d be far better actually getting Cummings into the team and developing him and looking at the future.

09 Apr 2018 14:04:23
Is Miller not 38?

09 Apr 2018 16:25:50
He’s still scoring goals? He scored one and missed about four if that had been Morelos he’d have been slated for the misses

09 Apr 2018 16:57:17
Why give Miller a hard time? Yes he's getting on a bit, yes he drops to deep and out of position at times. Having said that a strikers job is to put the ball in the net and he's still doing that at 37. Play him on Sunday against Celtic and I'll bet he'll score!

09 Apr 2018 17:15:10
Miller is 39 this year not 36
