Why are we worried about Goodwillie anyway? If there's any chance of signing Cuellar or Juhasz then get excited about that, they're top players. Goodwillie wouldn't be in the starting eleven so I'm not thrilled at the idea of spending a sizable chunk of the budget on a guy who basically amounts to a prospect with a dubious character. After last season we can do without signing a guy who's likely to cause more controversy.

Not on the wind-up here (Celtic fan) but Rangers had their chance to sign Goodwillie. If they'd have just coughed up the 2M they'd asked for over a month ago he'd probably be wearing royal blue by now. Unfortunately for you a club from the EPL made a bid which has likely put him out of Rangers' price range (and Celtic's if we actually are interested). Furthermore, Dundee United will be reluctant to sell to an SPL rival over an EPL club meaning there's a chance Rangers would have to offer more than Blackburn's offer and at the very least a matching bid to get the bid accepted (think Romanov at Hearts who basically refuses to sell to the OF unless the bid is fairly high or they'll make a loss through losing him on pre-contract).

As for Paul McBride he has nothing to do with trying to get Goodwillie to snub a move to Rangers. In fact it'd be in Paul McBride's interests for Goodwillie to join Rangers rather than move south.

First and foremost if he moves to Blackburn there's a good chance Goodwillie would find a more local lawyer (and even if he didn't he could afford a more expensive and thus conceivably more competent one).

Tied in with that is the fact that Goodwillie with all his off the field nonsense and brushes with the law has probably been one of Paul McBride's best customers in recent years.

Finally, if he joined either side of the Old Firm there's a chance he'd get involved in more off the field nonsense which as a lawyer means more money.

Conversely, the end result of him moving out of Scotland means that McBride loses a client that's probably single handedly financed about 5 houses in the Bahamas by now. {Ed047's Note - agreed

wish rangers would just drop their pursuit of goodwillie, fair enough woulda been good gettin him for 1m-1.4 but hes defo not worth over 2 mil, just get the boy verhoik in and another cb and maybe another cm or striker and lets kick on

First time posting here, just in from work and found out rangers had a third bid rejected for David Goodwillie, thought to be more than the £2million asking price but was rejected because it was less than the blackburn bid...... think we should just pull out and try for pavone of betis.

Mccoist stated clearly, and it is on the Rangers website, that Pavone is a player who has been looked at but there was to be no follow up interest so can't see it happening.

rangers are getting ready to put a bid in of 2.2 million for verhoik and and ally still wants goodwillie with baugey leaving for 3 million to go to qwater after wedensday against malmo whitch will be a good bit of business especially when he has got less then a year on his contract
