MacGowan knocked Rangers back at first, however, received a phone call from McCoist asking him to meet. Agreed to meet at Harthill 1 hour ago. Being offered 5 x what he was on at hearts. Also Templeton at Murray Park for talks with Rangers. Both expected to sign but far from done yet. Stella has signed.

Maurice Edu has finalised his move to Stoke City, while there are rumours that his compatriot, Carlos Bocanegra, is on his way to Racing Santander in the Spanish Segunda. If true, credit must be given to the two of them for transferring over back in July, and we wish them all the best in the future.

Earlier in the day, Middlesbrough player and Rangers fan Andy Halliday claimed that Rangers have already signed three players, with the total possibly going up to five by the end of the day.

RangersMedia has been reliably informed that the identity of three of these players is as follows: David Templeton, Ryan McGowan and Alan Hutton.

It is well known that McCoist had been chasing Hearts duo Templeton and McGowan, but Hutton will certainly come as a shock to the Light Blue masses.

Having left the club in 2008 for Tottenham in a £9m deal, Hutton has played for Aston Villa and Sunderland in recent years, and his decision to make the move to the Scottish Third Division would be quite incredible.

Meanwhile, it has also been reported that Australian Francesco Stella is currently undergoing a medical at Auchenhowie, after impressing Ally McCoist on trial.

Finally, there has also been a rumour that Michael Owen is in signing talks. However, with the former England internationalist seemingly set on playing in the English Premier League, it certainly is a long shot.

ALLY McCOIST'S moves to rebuild Rangers have been thrown into chaos by rules forbidding SFL clubs from signing too many senior players.

Rangers have been caught in a red tape wrangle that could ruin their chances of significantly strengthening their squad before the transfer window closes tonight.

An SFL rule, in place for at least a decade, prevents its member clubs from registering more than 22 players aged over 21 in a bid to encourage youth development throughout the lower leagues.

To add to Ibrox woes, up to five senior players, including Steven Naismith, Steven Whittaker, Allan McGregor and Kyle Lafferty, are still officially registered to the club even though they've moved.

Rangers have kept them on their books as they try to gain support from FIFA to win transfer fees for them. That could restrict McCoist's plans to add up to six senior players to his pool before the club is banned from transfer dealings for a year.

He hopes to sign David Templeton, German Michael Fink and Swedish striker Daniel Larsson but could be denied by the rules.

Rangers to sign David Templeton for £500,000 and player on 7k wages! Captured defensive midfielder Michael Fink on a free contract aswell

Fink walked out on the club yesterday as he refused to wait until today to see if he was getting a contract.

The club seem to have messed the boy about a bit- he has been trainig with them for a while now..... but we may never know why.

According to tv hearts have rejected a bid from rangers for Ryan Mcgowan and David Templeton, Hearts chairman said if their was a 1.3 bid they would of been rangers players by the end of the window but rangers failed to pay more than 800k for the two players.#GUTTED

Rangers today made a bid for McGowan and Templeton of Hearts but have not met the valuation. Hearts want 1.3m for the both of them rangers are well short on this price no surprise there then
