McCoist could be a perfect fit for St Mirren after all he has a lot of experience with a struggling championship club.

Rangers legend as a player and Rangers legend as a manager. Done an incredible job during the worst years in our clubs history and done it under duress. No other could've or would've done what he did. His demise was well orchastrated by the **** at the helm. If I could change anything during his time as a manger, it would be the board and some of the fans. Board gave too little, fans wanted too much.

Good luck super Ally. Rangers till we die.

say what you want about super ally tactically as a manager but for what he done as a player and the stuff he had to deal with as a manager for me he's overtaken john greig as the greatest ever ranger and i wish him all the best if he gets that's job.

01 Oct 2016 10:17:52
Totally agree monty no matter what he did as manager no one will ever surpass what he achieved as a player for us again gave me some of best memories ever.

01 Oct 2016 12:23:07
I'd love to see him do well there. It's unfair to judge any manager's ability based on what he had to endure during his tenure. Mind you, out of the frying pan .

01 Oct 2016 12:58:09
I'd love ally to get the st mirren job just to see him back in football. Managers drop like flys at that club though.

I hear its another ex Her B Ferguson.

02 Oct 2016 15:12:15
Its John Lambie. On Sky Sports.

03 Oct 2016 13:41:40
monty I totally agree with you he done what no one else could or would have and had to deal with all the promises the new regimes promised and he bought in players that on paper should have scooshed thae championship at a canter but they all underperformed because what was going on around the club.
I wish him nothing but the best and hope he can stick one to lenny and co and stop them from coming up lol.

Sorry but absolute rubbish. He was the guy who put the team together with the second highest budget in Scotland, he was just a poor coach but great pundit. That said he succeeded in being the number one paid manager in Scotland and he didn't even know it!

04 Oct 2016 10:21:06
true brit the players he bought underperformed and yes his tactics weren't great but the guy got us to the championship and I honestly believe that we wouldn't be rangers if it was for him and we wouldn't have been able to hold on to our titles as he was the only one fighting for the best intrests of the club .
but because he took his wages and didn't get us promoted he was the worst managers ever? get a grip man the guy done what he could with what he could and I don't believe anyone on this plannet would have stuck with it as long as he did.

in my eyes he is the greatest ranger ever.

04 Oct 2016 15:40:41
James, he was a good CF but he never was never a good coach. He had the league won with games to go and he still never played or developed our youth. He stood in his technical area without movement or raising his voice whilst we were being embarrassed on the park. I presume you go to the games, well you are deceiving yourself if you believe we played good football under Ally, nice guy that he is!

05 Oct 2016 16:46:04
true brit I am not deceiving myself .
I know his tactics where all wrong and way way too defensive but he wasn't just a manager he had to deal with the pressures of being a rangers manager with the added pressures
of what was going on .

he was promised the world but had been fooled like the rest of us by white then green.

no other manager would have been able to do any better under the conditions in which he had to work.

team building is hard when u don't have those pressures on u but when when u do have them then its almost impossible plus the players underperformed and made him look worse

he is a very intelligent man with great attributes to be a manager so I wish the greatest ever ranger imo all the best of luck.

James, we could bat this back and forward for hours, fact is we will never really know what went on with the White / Green team. For my part, he like many others at the club benefited during that period and for such an intelligent guy we are asked to accept that he had moments of severe naivety . "I didn't know what I was being paid"!

Sorry much as I respect your opinion and Super Ally's contribution as a player, his Managerial period did not build on what he achieved as a player and I would also suggest that they are many more befitting the tag as 'the greatest ever Ranger' not least the the man who's stature stands outside our stadium.

06 Oct 2016 10:57:09
its just my opinion that he is the greatest ranger ever and we will never have a player of his stature again.

I think if given the chance that warbs got he would do a great job but because of everything that he was put through in those dire times he couldn't, I know we can't know what was going on but we all know for sure it wasn't fair on rangers fans and certainly wasn't fair to put him through that.
I believe he will be a good manager .
I respect your opinion true brit but I honestly whole heartedly disagree and think he was harshly treated by a minority of fans.

James Stirling, I have seen many players at Rangers that were better than McCoist including Jim Forrest who, with Lately alongside would have scored more goals than McCoist. Guys like Baxter, Laudrup, Gascoigne, Trevor Steven, Terry Butcher, Richard Gough were all better players, albeit in different positions so I guess it is subjective as to who anyone considers to be the best all time Ranger.

For me, and notwithstanding the aforementioned, John Greig for numerous reasons remains head and shoulders above McCoist as the greatest ever Ranger. Greig was a man of integrity, a gentleman off the pitch and hard as nails on the pitch. He led by example through good times and bad. McCoist just isn't in the same league.

As a manager He had a difficult time but he was smart enough to feather his own nest and given the budget that he had at his disposal I am not overly enthused by his record. Not one young player was developed during his time in office and not one quality player came in, either through the ranks or from outside.
