Sky sports news said new manager could be named before weekend and confirmed rowett was interviewed on tuesday.

02 Mar 2017 16:04:31
The Portuguese guy will be the new coach in place next week

02 Mar 2017 17:59:07
Agilmour79

He said the DOF would be announced this week, but he said the manager would be announced next week

02 Mar 2017 18:19:59
At the end of the day we all want different ppl
In as manager so no matter who it is
Let's just get behind him and give him a chance

02 Mar 2017 18:55:23
Well said smodge

02 Mar 2017 20:50:20
the Portuguese guy hasn't been named yet and people are slating him already, let's get behind him if he gets the job and hopefully he will be a decent acquisition

03 Mar 2017 00:26:54
Walter never won anything when he took over and mcleish had only won division 1. Portuguese managers usually are very well set up and have their teams organised and doing their jobs. The guy silva for example at Hull is doing alright so why not this guy.

03 Mar 2017 14:07:38
got to give everyone a chance

03 Mar 2017 15:06:07
Wilson has asked for more time to think over our offer as DOF.

03 mar 2017 21:59:10
bring back weiss

02 Mar 2017 10:41:51
Well bears confirmed Caixinha No 1 target. Not the best going by his record in previous jobs. Usually stays about 18 months then moves on. We need a blood and snotters man who will see the job out and isn't afraid to get stuck in. Maybe I am to quick to criticise but he needs a proper bluenose as no 2 someone who bleeds blue. Hopefully my interview goes well lol.

02 Mar 2017 12:57:59
The guy as a COACH, is apparently very good. At Least that is what his ex players say. If we do go for him then we need to back him. If his ex players are right and he is a good coach then i reckon we are onto something here.

02 Mar 2017 13:16:35
Caixinha has a good record and is spoken of highly in europe

02 Mar 2017 13:21:32
We need someone who knows what they are doing regardless of who they support. God just because they "bleed blue" doesn't make them right. Halliday, weir for example. The next manager, assistant etc does not have to have any previous connection to us.

02 Mar 2017 13:28:53
yes we do need to get right behind whoever comes in as doing anything less will hinder us big time and don't judge the man on this season and what he does between now and the end of june as he will only be able to make the team his in the summer .

we aslo will judge wether or not dave king is serious about putting us back on top of scottish football.

02 Mar 2017 13:54:14
What do people expect, even if it is him give him a chance for f. k sake

02 Mar 2017 14:22:38
Spoken of highly by who in Europe? Why have his last few jobs not been in Europe if he is thought of so highly

02 Mar 2017 15:11:53
If the guy is quality and gets us results then of course he will move on, just as we expect Rodgers to move to a better job down South away from Celtic.
Right now we need a quality coach, a top quality Director of football and a Board of Directors that know what they are doing!

Bringing in 'Rangers men' docent necessarily work, especially with the low quality level being mentioned!

As far as the Board is concerned they need to get their act together, I see that they screwed up again today and had to pay Sports Direct and Green etc., legal costs when the lawyers acting for the club attempted to amend a request for documents! Right now we don't appear to be very clever across the Board especially with our lame dock Chairman and the lack of investment!

02 Mar 2017 15:26:24
My main concern with this guy is he doesn't seem to last longer than 14 months in a position but we have to have faith the board really have done some due diligence and he really is the correct manager to take us forward.

02 Mar 2017 15:27:26
If this Portuguese fella gets the job I'll back him just like anyone else but I've got a very bad feeling about him just hope I'm wrong

02 Mar 2017 15:28:21
You need to forget about Brendan Rodgers. Every other post you mention him!

02 Mar 2017 15:14:20
He coached a Mexican club to Final of CONCACAF Champions League. not quite UEFA but still a lot of good clubs in it

02 Mar 2017 15:58:27
Read an article about him today and former players said he does not focus on defence, only attack. Surely the board can see that our defence is dreadful and we need to build from there.

02 Mar 2017 17:37:39
The article said he always sets his teams up to attack, that is not the same as not focusing on defence.
A blind man can see we need more balance in our team so I'm sure whoever is appointed will make it a priority to rectify

02 Mar 2017 18:51:44
I'm not bothered if he moves on just as long as he successfull same as players as long as we win things and d. o. f replaces with same hungry managers n players happy days the e. p. l the goal for all them

02 Mar 2017 17:57:44
Spoken of highly by Jose Mourinho.

02 Mar 2017 19:50:56
Apart from wenger, who has Jose not spoken highly of, especially another Portuguese coach

02 Mar 2017 19:57:49
Rab2139 agreed. If he can come in and give us stability and allow us to mount a challenge for the title then if and when he goes, he's leaving a solid foundation for the next manager.

02 Mar 2017 23:12:27
If he stays 12-18 months it shouldn't matter! That's the whole point in going down the DoF route.

03 Mar 2017 20:37:56
i hate when people read between the lines and say that an article says something it clearly doesn't as if they are the only ones that have read it.
it says he is an attack minded manager it doesn't say he doesn't have a good defence and let's be honest when warbs started us playing attacking football it was a breath of fresh air.
having watched a few of his games i'd say he tries to get his teams to defend as a unit and attack as a unit which does leave space but i'd prefer to play attacking football andwin in the right way which will make it harder for celtic to beat us

02 Mar 2017 11:54:05
reading robertsons match day program last nite he says we will put a modern recruitment and scouting network in place and the infrastructure that reaches beyond the uk and this is to be done immediate as is important for our future.

glad to hear the board have finally realised that they will have to invest in this department to find players who we actual might make some profit on down the line
I just hope the the manager is backed with a good amount of money for transfer fees not free players as our team needs 5 or 6 good quality players who can make the difrence defenders and a couple strikers should be priority.

02 Mar 2017 13:31:53
big wes comes in for a lot of bad criticism but i think he is a good keeper and would be better with a better defence in front of him.

02 Mar 2017 14:27:20
You are quite right there, just hope that whatever happens this season, someone at the club decides we need two sign at least two central defenders this summer. Also when watching the highlights lately Wallace is consistently being out run down his flank

02 Mar 2017 14:41:01
I agree james stirling. wes a good big keeper who needs 2 dominant centre halves infront of him in the mould of butcher and gough. maybe the big lad Bates who we bought from Raith is one of them. Kiernan is hopeless. hill won't last 4ever and wison is either injured our out of form. Ps get bomber on the coaching staff anaw

02 Mar 2017 18:15:23
Wallace is a bang average player that has gone below average since becoming our skipper.

02 Mar 2017 18:21:45
What makes you believe that Bomber would be a better coach than Weir?

02 Mar 2017 20:52:38
Wee ecky. for weir to have been at ibrox as asst mngr for 15 months and apparently done very little to improve kiernan tav etc as well as being involved in signing them spks volumes. i'm convinced bomber would pin them to a wall should they defend like they constantly do. Not to mention showing them the development squad. Weir wonderful player. management well i don't think any of us could truly say our defence has been anything near solid under his watch.

03 Mar 2017 14:48:31
John Brown shouldn't be allowed anywhere near ibrox.

02 Mar 2017 11:51:49
I can't believe the Portuguese guy is going to get the Rangers manager job. We need a British manager not a guy that has barely no managerial experience a look at his career will tell you it is a major mistake. Mcleish might have his faults but how the hell can he not get the job in front of pedro caixinha is beyond me. He's even less qualified than ronny delia.

02 Mar 2017 12:51:41
Might bring weiss home with him🤞

02 Mar 2017 12:54:30
We aren't employing a manager though? it's a head coach we are after.

02 Mar 2017 13:21:32
barely no experience? He has experience as an assisstant at a range of top clubs across europe and recently won 3 trophies in 2 years in mexican football as manager. Did he not reach CONCACAF champions league final as well? Good enough for a Qatari team to offer him 2 mil a year, and he's willing to take a big paycut for chance to come to us. Board showing ambition going for this guy, compare him to Warburton, McInnes, Davies and the other lo. He could be fantastic for us

02 Mar 2017 13:40:11
head coach, manager it doesn't matter what u call it he is in charge of our team!
i hope he isn't another le guen.

but if it turns out to be him i will give my full backing and keep backing him until he has his first full season under his belt and then i will pass judgement as being negative does nothing other than hinder our great team if we stay off his back and give him support like he has never had maybe only good things will come from this guy.

02 Mar 2017 15:14:14
He might surprise us and he certainly wouldn't be any worse than macleish and Davies!

02 Mar 2017 17:45:35
Can anyone on here honestly tell me what Le Guen did wrong. He tried to bring professionalism to a Club and only failed through the cowardly and cheap shots that the real Rangers men (Ferguson as Chief slug) being the main mouthpiece.
Views please.

02 Mar 2017 19:44:58
What he done wrong is he lost matches. 2nd place is no where when you are at this club. And that's the way it should be!

03 Mar 2017 08:13:56
At the end of the day a lot of people seem to have this fixation that Caixinha is already coming in? Its all paper and media talk at the moment! I know we all have our own thoughts and feelings of who should get the Head Coach/ Managers role but until its announced it makes no difference. Who ever comes in we need to give our full backing to but and start making people scared of playing us again

02 Mar 2017 09:57:12
New manager will be named on Monday 6th March at 11 am. i did not tell you.

02 Mar 2017 10:19:56
And it will be Pedro Caixinha

02 Mar 2017 10:52:12
No big eck guaranteed

02 Mar 2017 11:13:46
If it is Big Eck then what a waste of time the last three weeks have been. and possibly 6 points! . It won't be big eck or board will look even more silly than what they look already.

02 mar 2017 11:54:45
will not be eck!
portugease bull fighter it is and will be announced after the game at the weekend

02 Mar 2017 11:49:04
if its not gary rowatt i'll be disappointed last two clubs both teams with poor finances he left both teams in a far better position than when he arrived, as much i like big eck his times bn and gone am afraid and caxinha well can't say I've heard enough of him for me to be happy with his appointment

02 Mar 2017 11:57:03
I personally don't want Eck under any circumstances.
