As we all know there's now going to be an interview process to find the best coach to take over from the now departed ian durrant, a wee bird tells me that our former winger neil mccann is very much in the frame for this position, I think mccann would be a very good and very popular choice as our new head of youth first team development coach, would like to gauge all other bears thoughts on this very important appointment and who else would be good shouts for this position.

28 Jun 2016 23:35:43
Wasnt the guy from falkirk his replacement?

28 Jun 2016 23:39:53
McCann was a great player for rangers and sounds great analysing during and after games, no doubting he has a football brain. However . What coaching credentials does he have and how much is on youth development? I really like McCann but this is one position that needs someone proven! Not comparing them but Gary Neville was outstanding pre game analysis wise. Enough said.

28 Jun 2016 23:20:16
I think he likes his job with sky to much if he could work it around that he maybe be up for it but a could be wrong a think he would be a cracking choice.

29 Jun 2016 00:15:18
He does have experience as assistant manager with dunfermline and has set up coaching sessions for out of work footballers before.

29 Jun 2016 00:17:03
So replacing one unqualified ex player with another?

29 Jun 2016 00:35:40
Yeah like the sound of McCann the only person I would love to see at Ibrox in some capacity is Laudrup! Dunno what he's up to now but both those guys teaching in the youth set up and I can't imagine anyone disagreeing.

29 Jun 2016 12:23:08
I would prefer us to get a high profile or Youth coach with good track record at developing players to fill this role.
The Dutch have the perfect model they pay top dollar basically approx £100k per annum on 8 youth supremos totalling £800k in wages and nearly always sell a player they have developed EVERY season for £10m who has came through the ranks then helped 1st team for few seasons.
We should adopt similar approach on a smaller scale by headhunting the best Youth coaches on the continent around 4 of them and get them developing our 16-19 year olds taking them to the next level then getting them ready for 1st team.
It's not that the talent isn't coming through or available they just need coached properly by guys at the highest level in that department, we have the facilities already in place.

28 Jun 2016 23:42:53
Neil Mccann would be an excellent appointment. He knows what he is talking about. The guys an absolute legend, still keeps himself in good condition and would definitely the kind of role model we need to bring out the best in youth.

29 Jun 2016 05:42:21
Ian cathro.

29 Jun 2016 14:37:32
canny see McCann as much as I love the guy doing any better than durranty as he had tons of experience but not totally qualified.
I think warburton already knows who he will put in there or he wouldn't have let him go in the first place.

29 Jun 2016 20:06:26
Aye because Ian Cathro's on looking for a demotion and a wage cut of about 400k.

28 Jun 2016 18:09:32
Robson Kanu talks put on hold with him still playing @ the Euros his agent has been holding talks with the club but nothing more will happen till MW returns from America an till Kanu returns from the Euros.

28 Jun 2016 19:34:39
We're not even on for Robson kanu, so don't know where you got that from.

28 Jun 2016 20:58:05
How do you know they're not stiv? he could be a target for the management, who knows?

28 Jun 2016 22:16:45
How do you know he is not. 1 report saying we are looking at him that's how I know.

28 Jun 2016 22:57:40
Ah it's no in the papers ah see! the papers where a week late on the Barton story.

29 Jun 2016 06:32:40
Rangers are not in for Robson kanu. it isn't happening.

29 Jun 2016 07:18:53
Seem to forget all other reports in papers they did report before we signed players ie kranjcar rossiter hill gilks and we are not just talking abut papers we are talking about all media outlets not 1 single report to say we are interested at moment.

29 Jun 2016 14:47:14
I agree with you stiv I doubt that we are in the market for another winger when we need a cb and a top striker to deal with what Brenda is building. I can see the unwashede getting another two signings of that calibre which makes our signings look mediocre!

28 Jun 2016 17:59:56
Any news on a CB and a striker? A think few more loans will join at the end of the window but it seems we're stuck for a CB atm.

28 Jun 2016 21:49:42
Small link with the American centre half Oguchi Onyewo. Apparently training with the team in the states. Out of contract at present.

29 Jun 2016 14:49:08
out of contract with no team for the last year very injury prone and is a big balde type defender which is not a good thing in todays soft football world!

28 Jun 2016 17:47:44
Oguchi Onweyu (spelling) training with Rangers in the US.

28 Jun 2016 18:02:53
Former usa and milan cb. Looked a player back in the day but a few bad injuries hampered him recently.

28 Jun 2016 18:12:16
Onyewu is about 34, I don't think we need another 30+ CB. Clint Hill filled that requirement.

28 Jun 2016 18:26:19
The guy has not played for 14 months don't think this is what we need.

28 Jun 2016 19:06:24
He looks more like a UFC fighter than a fitba player.

28 Jun 2016 19:26:56
At least we'd have a player over 6 foot!

28 Jun 2016 19:31:15
He's had 1club standard liege where he actually played a lot of games the rest of the clubs he's played hardly any weird 1 this.

28 Jun 2016 20:41:11
He was decent before he moved to Milan - he has been injured or rotten ever since.

I'm sorry but I see a manager who talks well but is very short on imagination. Every player we go for is someone either he or partland have had prior dealings with. There are other players out there.

Have to say I'm impressed with Celtic showing a bit of imagination and ambition with dembelle. Something we are desperately lacking. Instead we seem to be scouring the lost souls of lower league English football.

28 Jun 2016 20:05:58
if we had it our way we wouldn't have signed a 37 year old legend David Weir. If the guy proves his fitness he can e a big player for us.

28 Jun 2016 20:56:48
Oneywu may not be the answer but there's nothing wrong with having a look at him.

As for MW having a lack of imagination, well, if assembling the squad we have today on a tight budget is showing a lack of imagination then I'll take that any day.

FYI MW or FM have had no obvious prior dealings with Waghorn, Holt, Halliday, Tav, Crooks, Windass etc etc.

You're right though, Dembelle could prove to be a good signing, plenty of potential, but I'm certainly not worried.

I'm not a fan of linking us to ex players, but to contradict myself, I see Leeds are lining up a loan move for Kyle Bartley, he would definitely strengthen the defense.

28 Jun 2016 21:52:00
Do you sit on here fishing all day LUIGI?

29 Jun 2016 01:24:56
Luigi - 500k for Moussa Dembele is showing staggering imagination, I'm sure I read on the dark web that Seville, Molde and Malmo were after him - in fact parallel universe vision!

Fulham were outstanding in last years championship finishing 20th and with one of the best up and coming coaches in Peter Grant.

29 Jun 2016 05:50:46
Harry Forrester was a lost soul in the lower leagues.

29 Jun 2016 06:05:32
They will be paying him a fortune and a promise of a big money move whenever he has had enough of Glasgow weather, his agents will have seen the benefits of Desmonds money for now, 4 years guaranteed, cash going up every so often, then sold for plenty.

28 Jun 2016 17:47:44
Oguchi Onweyu (spelling) training with Rangers in the US.

28 Jun 2016 15:31:12
MK Dons defender Lee Hodson could join Rangers after the Northern Irish defender returns from international duty.

28 Jun 2016 17:22:35
breaking rumour.

28 Jun 2016 20:44:06
Not a good move - we should be giving a chance for one of our youngsters to act as backup in full back position not signing someone like this. Like many fans I hoped we would bring in someone better than tav not worse. Very like the goalkeeper - going for a backup to fod rather than a replacement.

28 Jun 2016 21:35:43
Do we really need Hodson? Would've thought Kiernan could fill in at RB and what about Airs been reading that he's been doing really well in MLS but dunno if Warbs rates him or the lads heart ain't at Ibrox. Don't think we need to spend on a position that we can cover from inside! I get everyone's feelings about Tav but we have yet to see how the wee man's game has developed. As for the American CB we have training with us the now he must have something about him! Been connected to some pretty decent clubs and we all know that Warbs has a knack of getting the best out of players and the guy is a monster! Dunno anything about him but looks solid.

28 Jun 2016 16:10:09
Holt joining up with Lemmon at Hibs in possible make weight in Cummings deal.

28 Jun 2016 16:17:21
Its grant holt that's joining hibs 😂😂.

28 Jun 2016 16:18:38
Doh 🙈🙈.

28 Jun 2016 16:20:58
holt is ten times the player Cummings is and I hope we don't go for Cummings as that laughable after celtic signing dumbele lol but like I said its all about the rangers but I think we would be better with adam rooney who is proven goalscorer in the spl.

28 Jun 2016 17:23:36
Head in hands at the state of play on here at the moment.

28 Jun 2016 17:41:11
Have I missed something here. Celtic haven't signed a ton yet. Fair enough the boy is coming for a medical but nothing has been put on paper as far as I have seen. Who cares who they sign, it's about what we do isn't it.

28 Jun 2016 17:41:11

28 Jun 2016 18:35:59
Apologises. Just seen dembele has signed now. Four year deal.

28 Jun 2016 19:33:24
Holt is never 10 times the player Cummings is take off your blue tinted specks. Holt is a midfielder, Cummings is a forward and would be a terrific audition to our squad. To be honest with the players we have brought in over the summer I think holt will struggle to keep his position this season coming.

28 Jun 2016 17:28:32
dont like to say but you got the wrong holt.

28 Jun 2016 15:27:22
Anything on Steven Taylor?

Couple days of constant coverage - nothing in a week or 2.

Reckon it's dead in the water?

28 Jun 2016 20:45:36
More like sunk. He's too injury prone anyway.

28 Jun 2016 15:01:57
Does anyone else think it's Lafferty that Warbs is talking about?

All sounds about right and signals are all there. Plus-he's 'been' at the euros sounds like he's just making his way home.

he'll give us another dimension IMO. Onwards and upwards.

28 Jun 2016 16:39:22
guy walked away don't let him crwl back his career has stalled so wants back here. he was mince the first time round and I think he has got worse with age flopped everywhere he has went and was nowhere for his country.

28 Jun 2016 15:48:53
Don't want him back. Would rather get younger and hungrier to come to us and maybe sell on for a good fee rather than that him.

28 Jun 2016 16:24:24
We all know it's a full back he is talking about.

28 Jun 2016 18:29:08
OMG - "don't want him back because he walked away! "

I don't care what anyone did in the past - if they can do a great job for us in the future everyone is welcome.

Player have lives and families and had to make the best decision for their own. a bankrupt club was never going to pay their mortgage or feed their kids

Move on.

28 Jun 2016 15:11:05
Afraid i can confirm mariappa will not be signing. Or at least not until we offer him more cash.

28 Jun 2016 15:45:52
How can you confirm this are you in negotiations with him.

28 Jun 2016 16:40:20
where is that story coming from guys as I've looked about and can't see anything anywhere.

28 Jun 2016 14:41:41
Lee Hodson arriving for a medical and talks over a contract to be cover for tav and wallace.

28 Jun 2016 13:10:17
Who is the NI star we are after? According to the DR.
Cant see a name.

28 Jun 2016 15:20:59
Lee Hodson apparently.

28 Jun 2016 11:47:43
Reports say we're closing in on Lee hodgson, but warbs said 3 more and we're done we're obviously after a proper CB as well, after pics were put out there of Davie Weir and mcparland sitting down with Marriappa, but I'm not sure it will be him, as the story has went cold there, but they just turn there attention elsewhere if he doesn't fancy it.

However I'm really hoping the 3rd is a real goalsscorer, if it's is, then I would be happy with the summer signings.

28 Jun 2016 11:57:35
would like mariappa and another striker and another ball on loan for another season and i'd be happy with the signings as long as its a good striker.
I don't want fletcher or lafferty both are not good enough.

28 Jun 2016 16:11:05
Of course we shouldn't sign Lafferty . tall, quick, international goalscorer. nah we don't need him.

28 Jun 2016 15:49:18
Either one of those strikers will win us games.

28 Jun 2016 16:45:03
both those strikers are mince guys and blue blazer what u talking about the guy doesn't perform for any of his clubs he is like samaras does a wee bit of magic now and again and the rest of the time he runs about the pitch like a doo wi nae heed!
fletcher has never done it for me either the guy has an appaling goals to games ratio and the only good thing about him is he has an agent that perfomes miricles for him! how he has had the career he has had with the big money signings makes no sense at all.

28 Jun 2016 16:47:06
with the right service I could win games for rangers doesn't mean they should sign me! (they shouldn't)

28 Jun 2016 15:18:42
I agree James, I honestly think we should seriously consider Grigg, with the amount of class midfield we have I am sure this guy will score a lot of goals for us, not sure what he would cost but pretty sure with the Hats magic we will make money selling him on.

28 Jun 2016 17:18:38
Neither of them are great footballers but they both have specific talents and would score plenty of goals as they drop down a standard for spl. Fletcher was an important player in epl but some fans would rather bradshaw who has had 1 good season 2 divisions below.

28 Jun 2016 17:27:55
The same Will Grigg that is behind Josh Magennis for NI! Yes that's correct, that big diddy that plays for Kilmarnock! People need to behave.

28 Jun 2016 17:45:19
Lafferty quick😃😃anyway mentioning fletcher I think he'd do really well up here for us if he stays injury free and takes a wage cut like joey did. Spfl a lot easier than epl too.
