Rumours going around that a club bid for windass and they have met his realease clause of 3.5 mill.
What do fellow fans think bout the fee and should murty get this to spend or should it be kept till the summer

28 Dec 2017 23:19:00
I just saw this on twitter too. I think if we got 3.5 for a player who cost us 500k? he's been a pretty decent player done a job, I’d say we have had our money’s worth and sell him. Reinvest some of the money and go again. We need to face facts that we will be a selling club from now on.

28 Dec 2017 23:21:03
Although Windass has played better over the last month or so I'd be surprised if anyone was willing to pay that amount. I don't know if he has a releasr clause or not but if someone bid 3.5m I'd take it and say good luck to the lad.

28 Dec 2017 22:31:39
Doubt it but if true sell him

28 Dec 2017 22:40:22
I read that earlier Craig and if this is true I promise I will be and rangers board will be throwing a party!
And I will run him down, I did have a chuckle at that earlier lol lol if only!

28 Dec 2017 22:56:50
I'd take the money now

29 Dec 2017 00:16:27
I'd sell him and go get hyndman

29 Dec 2017 06:08:15
Take the money for windass, he's bin nothing more than ordinary, and hopefully getshot of the Mexicans and hodson, krankjar.

29 Dec 2017 07:19:50
There’s no danger anyone will bid £3.5m for Windass.

29 Dec 2017 08:55:52
we shouldn't be considering letting players like windass or tav go unless behind the scenes we have agreements in place to replace them

29 Dec 2017 09:25:19
I can’t see anyone putting a bid of £3.5m in. Everyone knows Rangers are skint and would probably accept less than half that for him

29 Dec 2017 09:44:46
Would only like to see Windass go if the figure above is accurate. With £3.5mil we could secure Steven Naismith, Russell Martin, Jamie Walker, Scott Arfield.

What is beginning to worry me is that we haven't even signed anyone on a free yet, with the likes of McLean and Walker being the obvious two.

29 Dec 2017 10:03:11
BigYin I don't think we're allowed to approach players who are out of contract in the summer until the transfer window opens in January.
So we can possibly make open negotiations next week.

29 Dec 2017 10:16:33
he is one of our better players players but to inconsitent but you could say that about the whole team inconsitent if sold i would expect the board to insert a sell on clause in the sale as lad has potenial
And the need to invest in two strikers at least if he leaveas

29 Dec 2017 10:27:46
Ahh ok, for some reason I thought it was December. In that case then I am sure we will start to see some movement on Monday with any hope.

29 Dec 2017 10:57:39
it seems the first bid was 200,000 what a name we have at our club, they must know we are mugs and sell for zilch

29 Dec 2017 12:02:15
We will cash in on players this transfer window. some we will want to see leave and some we won't want so much. The transfer fees quoted on here are ludicrouse though. I think the future sell on stipulation is key in any deal. Especially with the likes of Windass, Morelos, Tav, Fod etc. Their price tags could incline rapidly in the near future after moves to England.

29 Dec 2017 12:36:14
Windass cost us 65k compensation on a pre contact agreement, not half a million.

29 Dec 2017 13:27:18
I maybe wrong here guys, but my understanding on the combined transfer fee for josh windass and matt crooks, from accrington stanley was 400k! Obviously 200k each!

29 Dec 2017 17:36:10
I'm sure coop is correct. I seem to remember quotes of 165k for them both. didn't we get Holt from Hearts for 65k?

30 Dec 2017 00:00:50
Sure we bought Windass for about £65k. if we get anywhere near £2m+ then i would gladly take it. Seeing Steven Caulker has left QPR, wouldn't be a bad shout to strengthen the defence.

30 Dec 2017 00:01:15
there was a £200.000 bid, if we got £3.5 million which is the release clause in his contract, I would drive him down to England myself

30 Dec 2017 00:03:39
Guys the bid was £200,000 from Wigan.

30 Dec 2017 00:07:05
He only cost us 65,000 I'm sure, i'd imagine we'd sell if an offer of about two million was made, a nice profit

30 Dec 2017 00:15:05
If rumours are true about getting 3.5million for Windass, which i very much doubt but If true i would definitely sell and go get Stevie Davies back from southampton with the money and possibly Naismith only if we can get him cheap enough .

28 Dec 2017 13:11:47
For us to guarantee second place and finish as close as possible to celtic this year we need the following:

Left back (allowing d. john to push forward into LM)
LW/ RW (a player better than windass and candeias)
Centre Mid (we have no real creative quality of leadership there at all)
Striker/ attack Mid (need more goals from midfield and our strikers other than morelos)

I like big herrera he loves the club and is totally committed. Last night nose burst and still soldiered on. Second goal when in and he was going mad buzzing. Just wish he could score a few more.

28 Dec 2017 14:36:39
Was last night not the big mans first start for us? He’s only got two goals but he normally only comes on for 5-10 mins if you are lucky.

I think him and Morelos could make a decent partnership if we can supply them with some quality service, unfortunately that’s a big problem for us just now with so many midfielders out.

28 Dec 2017 14:46:30
We have a left back. Club Captain.

28 Dec 2017 14:58:58
people need to realise Herrera isn't a goal scorer he's a target man which did really well last night I thought. Unfortunately he's not going to get 15 goals a season he's there to hold the ball up give our other players space to run into

28 Dec 2017 15:00:00
Herrera was absolutely woeful last night

28 Dec 2017 15:35:31
Totally agree campbell what game are people watchin his hold up play waa non exsistant his pace the same doesn't seem a goal threat only thing he done was run himself into the ground which any of the fans inside the stadium are capable of doing, he's nowhere near good enough

28 Dec 2017 17:33:30
I think big Herrera is a better option as support for Morelos than Miller is. I think given a run in the team he could be useful but unfortuneately no better than that. One of the guys sitting next to me last night said he thought Herrera could be as good as Dado Prso. About 20 people around us all burst out laughing. You sometimes wonder what others see. What i would give to turn back the clock and get Prso back.

28 Dec 2017 17:51:57
The boy needs a chance. 5 mins a week proves nothing. A run of games before end of season will let us see what he can do and if he does not meet the demand at least he has been out there for others to see and stop him losing value on the bench. I saw his reaction when morales scored. He was stood in the box fist pumping and genuinely had emotion to be winning. Broken nose and all he fought last night against a team of animals.

28 Dec 2017 23:55:36
People need to realise that herrera is absolute single fish. He can't pass, he can't run, he can't score, he is so bad it hurts to watch him.

28 Dec 2017 23:57:04
Penarcade, Herrera isn't a goalscorer he is a target man?

Mark Hateley 165 games 87 goals
John hartson 146 games 88 goals
Chris Sutton 130 games 63 goals
Dado Prso 94 games 31 goals
Nikicia Jelavic 45 games 30 goals

Just a few target men statistics for you mate.

Herrerra needs to add goals to his game if he is to be a Rangers striker, its not enough just trying hard. Hopefully he starts more games and can add goals.

29 Dec 2017 00:08:49
Herrera as good as Dado Prso? Stay off the drugs!

29 Dec 2017 00:09:45
He jumped an hour early for every ball he's no target man he won't do there's a reason he's been on the bench

29 Dec 2017 06:09:33
100% agree he needs proper minutes on the pitch he’s came off the bench 15 times and that’s for 10 mins at a time at the most guy needs too be given 5 or 6 games with at least 60/70 mins on the pitch then he can be judged. You can see he’s a player that gives his all and wants too make the most of his chance at the club the same can’t be said for some of the other singing from the summer.

29 Dec 2017 09:04:57
Sorry lads no matter how many minutes you give the guy you can’t force him to get better as coldo said he’s absolute single fish - and I’m sorry no matter how many Fist Pumps 🤔🤔😆😆he does or has his Heart in the right place will never merit him a rangers jersey - for me he’s in the same class of players as Kevin Kyle, faure, argyriou, sandaza, to name a few!

29 Dec 2017 09:28:41
Herrera isn’t suited to the Scottish game and he like Pena shouldn’t have been bought. Hopefully both will go back to Mexico during the January transfer window.

29 Dec 2017 23:32:10
Should have brought Lafferty back when we had the chance.

28 Dec 2017 13:07:05
I know they are not that good but getting ohal and dodoo back will be better than having pena and herrera. Still can't believe we paid nearly 5mil for these two clowns. Least haliday will put in the effort. Good win last night. let's just hope a pena herrera cardoso etc are shown the door and at least 3 good signings come in.

28 Dec 2017 15:11:13
so if dodoo and ohalleren were Mexican that means they would get in the Mexican squad then if there better? absolute nonsense are they better can't even get into the Ghana or Scotland squads not to mention the teams Herrera and Pena have played for a far better than st Johnstone and Charlton Athletic lol

29 Dec 2017 09:30:57
Deanobear

O’Halloran for all his faults though is more suited to the Scottish game than either Herrera or Pena. Maybe they are better players however both are struggling in our game and it’s probably better both left.

30 Dec 2017 00:12:24
Are you daft deanobear, who said if they were mexican they would get in the mexican squad? Wtf? I simply said that "although they are not that good, ohal and dodoo will be better options than pena and herrera". Anyone who thinks that they are not better options than these two clowns needs their eyes checked.

And btw if pena and herrera get near the mexico team then mexico are in a worse state than us. Pena and herrera would struggle to get a game at st johnstone and charlton, both are two of the worst football players I have ever seen and they cost us nearly 5mil. Surely your not that daft deanobear.

28 Dec 2017 12:43:53
Rangers, Norwich and agents in talks over Naismith and Russell Martin moving to Ibrox in January.

28 Dec 2017 14:09:48
Just who's place do you reckon russell martin is going to take mate?

28 Dec 2017 14:20:27
I'd take them both

28 Dec 2017 14:41:25
russel martin is a defensive right back who can play ch so it would be tavs. it would allow tab to move forward but it's looking like tavanier is leaving.

28 Dec 2017 15:13:10
Russel Martin is not a right back neither is he going to bomb up and down the wing crossing and scoring goals but if he was to come he can have Wilsons place.

28 Dec 2017 15:23:53
Russell Martin 75 percent of games at Norwich have been right back. I remember being at Carrow rd and they were all signing a song about him being the white cafu. similar to ours about hutton. he is a defensive right back totally agree he won't be attacking. Norwich captain so don't know if they would let him go anyway

28 Dec 2017 15:26:15
Supercooper, I've no idea mate, I'm just passing on information. It's up to others to decide how we utilise players, I don't speculate on that.

29 Dec 2017 09:32:41
Martin is a better centre half than both Cardoso and Bates and IF rumours are true about Cardoso going back to Portugal then he would replace him

29 Dec 2017 23:45:30
Martin coming in as possible replacement for Alves who is wanting out in Jan.

30 Dec 2017 00:13:33
There you go again deanobear, surely your no that daft. Take wilson's place. Aye good one.

28 Dec 2017 12:22:06
Anyone who was at the game surely can't be happy with that, it was utter dross. no shape, struggled to string 2 passes together, no pace, no strength in midfield and as for herrera words fail me. hate to say it, but i fear a total scudding come sat.

28 Dec 2017 13:03:04
your not the only one. we lack drive in the middle of the park and as for Alves, he makes Clint Hill look like a speed merchant.

28 Dec 2017 13:14:34
We all know that the squad is not good enough. But we have to be realistic and understand that we can only play the players that we have available. It maybe is not good enough but we just need to support them and hope to get 2nd, but certainly 3rd at the worst. Hopefully a few players will go in the next transfer window and a couple of new come in. I would like to see pace and experience coming in.
We are Rangers, no one likes us, we don’t care.

28 Dec 2017 13:15:57
What was the score? I thought we won.
Get behind the team a bit of encouragement can go a long way

28 Dec 2017 13:10:07
See at the moment, it's win at all costs. Just enjoy the fact that we got the 3 points I guess and worry about the rest another time.

28 Dec 2017 14:39:04
We lack creativity, that’s the main problem. Hardly a surprise considering the injuries we have in the midfield. Looks like we might have to play Kranjcar against the stench 🤦🏻‍♂️

28 Dec 2017 10:51:23
We will never compete as a force in world football again. When a mid table championship side's newest signing is worth more than our whole club, no amount of youth development can bring us back to where we once were.

28 Dec 2017 13:12:27
Things change. 10 years ago - who would have thought we'd be where we are. It'll come back. Cheer up.

28 Dec 2017 13:11:01
Of course not, but there is a workable model that we can set up and take advantage of. You only need to look at the other side of the city to see it bearing fruit.

28 Dec 2017 17:56:04
I agree teams will be looking for young british footballers after brexit work permit restrictions. If we can develop them at ibrox and sell them down south could turn a profit

28 Dec 2017 10:00:24
Posted before Christmas about Jimmy Nicholl coming in to work with Murty. Just a matter of time now all agreed just agreeing his release from Falkirk.

28 Dec 2017 10:49:40
If true Jimmy Nicholl will kick some ass. He won't take any of the players crap. He will have them fighting for every ball.

28 Dec 2017 16:48:57
He isn't at falkirk is he

28 Dec 2017 17:32:05
Aye he is at Falkirk, Paul hartleys assistant.

28 Dec 2017 18:49:05
Ahh would be not a bad choice

28 Dec 2017 06:06:48
I have just got home from a party with a few ex players that have been home for Xmas and heard it from them that the feeling between them and the majority of ex player is they wouldn’t touch us with a barge pole. We don’t have the money to attract quality British or European player so let’s just forget they days. They are gone. And will never be back so please stop yer carry on on this site. Talkin about how yous have been season ticket holders since it was a shilling a year to watch the bears. one thing dictates football now and it’s not what u all think! It’s entertainment. Not money. That comes as a bi product. The reason rangers are skint is because no one wants to watch us. Scottish football is not a saleable product so we have nothing. So forget the past forget the present and forget the future. That’s all gone. We only exist in Scotland now so just enjoy the game. Enjoy the day out to ibrox. STOP GREETIN AT THE PLAYERS because THE ain't GAZZA COISTY OR LAUDRUP. that time has gone so let’s win what’s in front of us. Not what’s behind us!

28 Dec 2017 06:44:15
Had a few too many shandys I think

28 Dec 2017 08:59:22
Go back to the party and have a hair of the dog!

28 Dec 2017 09:07:59
His core message is sound though

. unfortunately

28 Dec 2017 09:27:42
The reason we are skint is purely down to the mismanagement of our club from top to bottom. When we got demoted to the third tier is gave us the chance to build a young exciting team instead we persist a policy of signing overrated over the hill has beens with limited technical ability or speed which was reflected in the truest woeful performances we had to endure against lower league opposition and these players we finally exposed once we reached the championship. Yet we still didn’t learn our lessons with alves, Miller new deal, Barton, krankjaer but to name a few who offer rangers no value going forward. Sorry for going on a rant but my father up until recently coached an u17’s premierlegue team for more than 7years and he kept saying to me that rangers don’t put enough emphasis on youth development in homegrown players and their network in general falls way short of other premier clubs.
When was the last time we brought through a descent young talented striker, midfielder (hard working or creative) or a winger etc? This farce will continue until someone comes in who understands the true value of this great club and is prepared to put everything into it. Look across the city yes it’s painful but their strategy is a successful one and not difficult if you recruit the right personnel. Their is young talent out there like John mcginn and Louis moult who we could have got 6-12 months ago for little over £1m and would have offered more quality than anything we currently have and would have been sellable assets for sure.
This dross we are watching will continue until mr king and his pals hand over the reins to someone who is fully committed to getting this great club back to where it should be!

28 Dec 2017 09:55:42
Sorry but the mismanagement you speak of as we were coming up through the leagues was down to the crooks running us at the time. Young players need experience to help them through games. Since King and co. have been in charge we have made great strides in terms of youth which is now starting to bear fruit with McCrorie Barjo etc. Also Scotland in general hasn't produced much quality for a long while. What superstars has your father produced for us (Scotland)?

28 Dec 2017 10:01:38
Unfortunately, elements of the doom and gloom post are true, but as Ronnie says, you can create a model that works, even in Scotland.

It starts at the top with vision, then a manager, recruitment and youth development.

We missed a trick years ago to build a youthful team, but it can start at any time.

As a fan, I can forgive some poor results along the way if you can see the bigger picture.

28 Dec 2017 10:13:39
Bigmarv you’re clearly missing the point!

28 Dec 2017 10:14:52
its true we are skint that's a fact. but to make matters worse the five years that we were in the wilderness the other mob were guaranteed to win the league and of course get millions from european football while having to spend very little on players as the competition in Scotland was so weak,
The situation we are in now is that they have mega millions in the bank and they only need to buy the odd quality player to add to their squad and that keeps us at arms length. so really unless someone comes along with a very large cheque and buys the club and has the money to attract some quality players the situation will stay the same, sad but true in my opinion

28 Dec 2017 11:14:17
Not trying to start an argument Ronnie but I don't think I'm missing your point. When in 3rd tier I agree we had a great opportunity to blood youngsters. That failure was down to McCoist and Green etc. When we failed to get out of the championship King's board employed a manager with a youth development background. In less than 3 years we have sold an excellent young prospect to Chelsea we have the 2 first team players I mentioned plus more knocking on the door (Beerman, Bates etc. ) . A young team needs at least half a dozen experienced players to guide them through games or they will win nothing. Barton (spectacularly), Krancjar, and Alves (so far) have been failures but on paper were good signings which personally without the benefit of hindsight I would make again. Miller has been past it for a while but his experience and professionalism have been invaluable for our young players. Which point did I miss?

28 Dec 2017 13:03:10
you must believe anything anybody tells you because they are expected players doesn't make it true starstruck

28 Dec 2017 13:04:17
Think you will find we are skint is because we spend more than we take in and have always done that especially in the Murray era. Simple as
