Dof will be appointed imminently.

27 Mar 2017 17:58:05
So the DR leads us to believe.

27 Mar 2017 19:35:51
There's a statement on the club website confirming this.

28 Mar 2017 09:46:45
Could name dof an pedro. s num3 in same press conference

27 Mar 2017 15:49:19
New number 3 position. Does anyone out there know who is getting the job. It's getting embarrassing.

27 Mar 2017 16:24:08
Taking time to make right decision is not embarrassing

27 Mar 2017 18:27:47
Couldn't agree more Swany9. Some things just take time. Getting the right people in place is crucial to our future. Patients guy's, it'll happen when it happens.

27 Mar 2017 17:18:26
Why is it embarrassing? 🤔

28 Mar 2017 14:24:56
Its embarrassing because it makes it look like we're dithering. Its not the managers job its a No 3 position. The more time it takes the less relevant it becomes. Barry Ferguson is tailor made for it and would receive massive welcome on Saturday. But yes i will welcome whoever gets it. My understanding of the role is that it isca direct link between Pedro and the culture of Rangers and indeed Scottish football. How hard can it be. Line i say its getting embarrassing. Make the appointment now. The longer it takes it takes gloss of the thing.

29 Mar 2017 15:09:52
Yeah because 'gloss' is more important than hiring the correct person lol

27 Mar 2017 10:06:25
report from rangers news now says that billy gilmore away to chelsea for £500,000. sad to see good potential leave.

27 Mar 2017 10:39:31
Sad to see this! I think a couple of seasons with our first team would have been the way forward, however, good luck to the lad! I hope he proves to be the player everyone is saying he is!

Anyone think we should take a punt on young Matt Knox from Livi?

27 Mar 2017 10:51:47
Good to see £500,000 in the account. Shame we'll probably never hear of him again when he's lost at Chelsea.

27 Mar 2017 11:16:09
Give him a couple of years not playing down there and he'll be back up in Scotland playing again probably have to start off at a championship and move his way back up.

27 Mar 2017 12:10:28
just can't compete with the money down south. boy is stupid though if he has agreed with chelsea with the likes of barcalona and bayern munich wanting him he could have went to a team that actually brings players through their ranks as we all know chelsea just simple don't do that anymore.

27 Mar 2017 12:25:38
I am sure that we have probably pinched kids from other teams as well. And I know they are just kids and can't enter into a legally binding contract (wouldn't expect them to either) .

But does anyone else not think that its a bit of a problem for Scottish football when one of the most promising players of a generation is pinched away from one of Scotland's biggest clubs and could end up no where near a first team squad for 5 or more years and still not make it rather than play for our first team for at least a season or so after nurturing him?

Its not sour grapes I really wish the kids well and hope he develops into the player its hoped he will turn into.

It's just a bit frustrating because, as a nation we don't exactly have a conveyor belt of this kind of talent coming through.

27 Mar 2017 12:32:55
Excellent bit of business for Rangers. 15 yrs old with potential. Remember Ryan Gauld? Jamie Ness? John Fleck.

27 Mar 2017 12:51:42
His choice, Chelsea wouldn't be my destination if I was a young player. He will end up out on loan, then, unless he can compete with their superstars he will be put out on loan and eventually sold on at a profit or given a free transfer. Perhaps we can do a deal with Chelsea for one or two of their fringe players. At the end of the day we need quality players at Rangers and if Gilmour moves on then as far as I am concerned he is history. Much more important that we build a team to win titles and the sooner the better!

27 Mar 2017 12:52:56
going to be hard for rangers to produce the next generation when we are still trying to get our finances and other things sorted. £500,000 is a decent bit of business since the boy hasn't been in the 1st team.

to be honest if he wants to go then let him, he isn't at the right stage to be in the first team yet. maybe training with them is ideal but he still has to earn the right to be in there.

us fans might look at it and say oh he'll disapear or he'll be back up here in the championship in a few years but he's got to experience something like that to know if its for him or not

good luck to the boy and hopefully he will have a chance to pull on a gers top in the future

27 Mar 2017 13:07:07
Hopefully we had a sell on clause included in deal.

27 Mar 2017 13:45:03
Probably never hear of him again as Chelsea won't play him in first team

27 Mar 2017 15:29:45
Wonder how much his parents are getting?

27 Mar 2017 15:31:43
500k you beauty. for a wee boy that might not make it, not many of warbs players are worth that who are playing for us just now 👍.

27 Mar 2017 16:03:34
😂😂 gosman i hear 50k and a house 👍

27 Mar 2017 16:16:07
Can't blame the boy or his parents. Probably a good signing-on fee and decent wages given his age. Money seems to rule in football these days but as others have commented, I fear he will disappear down there never to be seen again.

27 Mar 2017 19:16:20
Whether he'll 'disappear down there' or not, completely depends on how good he is. If he's a top player then he'll get a game. Most managers play their best players. I would rather he stayed but good luck to him if he doesn't.

27 Mar 2017 19:25:03
It doesn't really concern me as at the end of the day he's just a kid with some potential and we'll be half a million up for very little investment. I coached in the 90s and the list of boys with potential who didn't make it to the top is huge, some of them far better prospects at the time than this lad.

Everything's a gamble at that age, potential is the very least they need to climb the mountain. And remember, if you use under 16 caps as an example, less than 20% go on to play professionally. Most start to come through at a later stage.

27 Mar 2017 20:06:31
Do you think Billy gilmore might end up back at Ibrox on loan in a couple of years . would make sense

27 Mar 2017 21:46:06
papers are saying tonight its not a done deal

27 Mar 2017 23:07:10
Goodbye career. He'll be back in scotland in 4 year time playing for st mirren or dunfermline

28 Mar 2017 00:01:18
Sums up what's up with scottish football really. I recall a young player from dundee united who hardly played a game who saw the pound signs and went down south. That guy is now probably around 26 and i doubt has played anywhete near 100 games as only had one decent season with hibs. His name? Scott allan. Also the guy with 40 plus million sell on clause ryan guald. When did he go 2 or 3 yrs ago? How has he developed.

If he had stayed he woyld have developed more probably went to utd parent club celtic and had a few caps. There more chance of chris sutton going 30 minutes without talking about rangers than gilmour fulfilling his potential. He will be lost in chelsea youth system. Just like every other promising player from scotland who chases the glamour rather than making it in the game

28 Mar 2017 05:33:14
I really liked Mark Warburton but I think he really missed the boat for us here. He could have been firing that boy on the last ten mins of games and giving him a flavour of the first team. It might have given the lad more encouragement to stay.

28 Mar 2017 06:12:26
dont think he's allowed to play in league games until he's 16?, might be just cup games?

28 Mar 2017 11:08:22
The only players we should really be interested in are the players that want to play for us. If the kid doesn't see his future with us then good luck to him. Have to say though, he would be more likely to break into our team. Strange decision by him and his parents, after all taking a 16yr old kid and up rooting him from everything familiar to a strange place where he knows nobody could do more harm than good. On the flip side, it is a great opportunity for the kid.

28 Mar 2017 12:13:06
The article was total bull. They have tendered a bid but nothing can be done until after June 11 when he turns 16! Pedro is stated as talking with him and how he would be involved with the starting XI next season so there is still a real chance we will keep the lad

28 Mar 2017 14:38:04
I'm led to believe his head's already turned and if that's the case it's better if he goes and we take half a million for very little input.

29 Mar 2017 19:57:30
Mw had many faults but he is not to blame regarding gilmour. Its been all over the press since gilmour and celtics teen dembele hit the headlines that you cannot play for 1st team in spl until 16. You can play in scottish cup though. How do you not know this as it was widely communicated in run up to morton game hence his inclusion in the squad for last 2 rounds but not the spl.

Would have been good to see him on the bench but its too far into the competition now. Can u imagine playing a 15 yr in semi v celtic? I think not. It would take some bottle from the management. Would be interesting to see the reaction from the lynx dodgers if a 15 year old scored the winner though

30 Mar 2017 00:04:48
Well a certain 16 year old called Derek Ferguson scored the winner against them in the 1970 league cup final infront of 106,000 fans. Youth have no fear. If Gilmour is as good as they say, get him playing whatever games he can. The old saying "if your good enough, your old enough" springs to mind.
