Does anyone hve some serious concerns about Ally and his scouting team getting a war chest to develop the squad once transfer ban has been lifted? Based on the dross that was brought in allbeit in a short time period I don't think anyone at Ibrox currently has an eye for a player. Whoever thought the Greek and Brazilian defenders were players should open their eyes. Along with Faure the guy is about a stone over weight. As a stakeholder at Ibrox I am very concerned about Rangers letting their cash loose with this management team. Would be interested to hear other fans thoughts on this.

I dint think there will be any war chest. Players will have to leave first as the number of registrations in the lower leagues is smaller.

Charles Green said Ally would get £10m of the share money and that's how the money would be invested into the business and the club. Charles Green also said £9m of the share money would be invested into Ibrox and the facilities. A small amount of the remainder contributing to operating costs.

Agree 100 % I think if Ally is kept on he needs a new more experienced number 2 and 1st team coach to assist, the scouts also need replaced, in regard to the players that came in I think a few may have been forced on him to be honest.

Absolutely agree. Those you mentioned can be added to a long list of failed signings, Ortiz, Bedoya, Celik, McKay, Kyle, Stella etc. maybe they were good players who were played out of position I. e Ortiz r. b. or r. Mid played at outside left. Maybe it's the coaching or the tactics. Whatever it is it ain't working and we need a change to take us forward.

Sort of puts to bed all this nonsense about "colts"

AlexSandyBilly

In short. naw
I'm not worried as there isnae gonnae be a 10 million war chest. Chucks here to stabilize the club and make some money in the process. He isnae gonnae do that by letting Ally and Co loose with 10 million.

Issue is if loosing £1 mill / month then this must come from the war chest as no other pile of unallocated cash,

the £22 mill raised is more likely share/swap as if there was £22 mill would there not be new banking partner announcement?

19 Mar 2013 19:08:17
There will be no money for any war chest by May as we are losing over a million per month! That is according to Greens UNAUDITED accounts so every chance it's a lot worse than that! But yes if we had money there is no way I would let McCoist near it! He's getting £700000 per year as manager of a third division club by the way which is an utter disgrace!

Stop being negative do all you supposed rangers fans forget where we were 6 to 8 months ago get behind ally stop pitching about him

19 Mar 2013 20:28:33
every sunday watching goals on sunday, you see players in all leagues south of the border, who I think who could do a job, for the gers, bradford city players who were recently in a cup final, are on £ 1200, + per week, so wages won, t be a problem, good honest defenders who are willing to put their heads in where it hurts, coming to play for a club, in front of 50,000 every home game,

19 Mar 2013 22:14:26
I think that a lot of people are hiding behind the glory days on here. Rangers are a third division club who in the closed season lost the majority of there squad for little or no reward. Players were required to come in. however like ally said quantity not quality. Add in the fact we had a transfer ban and 4 weeks to build a squad. what self respecting player would go to a club who have just been demoted to the lowest league possible and whos players were on a wage cut for 5 months of the previous year. get real people this will take time. We cannot sign anyone until sept 1st. that will be freebies only. who wants to play 2nd div in scotland. it was hard enough getting players to come to the spl when we were offering champions league. allow ally time who cares if we lose a game or two. we won't be buying any superstars in the next 5 years let alone this year. Time is a virtue we as fans need to provide this great club of ours. it won't come over night but it will come.

The guy above is a rangers fan who realises the situation and the intention at rangers. i'd challenge any one of you to take super allys job at the time and be in a better position now. whichever way you choose to look at it it was a shocking job to take and he's pulled through and I for one will judge him as a manager when he has resources at his disposal, give him time and show your support ffs, we are rangers supporters after all some seem to have forgotten that,
WATP

Ally has taken a job to big for his first managerial role and he know it but he is the only manager who wouldve stayed through all the turmoil. players that aren't good enough or so arrogant they feel they only have to show up against 'lesser'opposition. its a continual fight for rangers until the return to the SPL and they need players who realise this. ally should take a break and allow experince to take over then return in five years after gaining experience himself.

BAD NEWS: Charles Green promised Ally £10m from the share issue to spend on players. FACT

GOOD NEWS: He doesn't have it!

Let's be honest! Does anybody want Ally to have £10m to spend. And does he need to spend anything like that?

Green re-iterated recently that Ally would get the £10m. But, of course, "because of this unfair signing ban" he can't touch it until Januray 2014. Well I assumed the £10m would include wages, not just signing on fees, so Ally can touch it in September.

If it is just signing on fees then you're going to have a mega team next year in DIV2 (and the wage bill to go with it). If it includes wages, CG is talking sh*t again.

Hey, ho.

Wouldn't give McCoist £10 to spend. He's a dud as a manager. Cuts short Hemmings loan period and doesn't play him. Should have been sacked when Stirling Albion beat Rangers. With the money he did have he should have been able to steer Rangers thru the 3rd Division undefeated!!! John F

There will be no great spending on players until we are back to the top league then you will see some big investment coming into the club from some private individuals to buy for or five quality signings. Ally will get approx 2 to three million each season to be used to strengthen the team as they work there way up the leagues and when we reach the top the quality players purchased will be good enough to challenge for the top league. Then all you doubters who have slagged Ally as a manager will be made to eat your words.

The gers fans who spoke of allisters tenure are good honest gers men, the gaffer deserves more respect, and granted I firmly believe billy davies was made for the job, I hate to see ally lambasted and derised because he hasn't won every game, and granted some players shudnt be there, but I suspect ally knows that, surely, he has no choice but to play them til the leagues won, but I do agree the boy hemmings should be playing number 9 rite now, and til end of season,, c, mon ally let the boy show wot he can do, there's nothing to lose now and plenty to be gained, I shudder to think of the criticism if we win the league and continue playing out the season with the current team/tactics,, tommy

No disrespect intended Ozzie but whilst I admire your loyalty I think your ignoring the facts and being blinded by your understandable admiration for a great Rangers man.
Some folk are maybe coming across a bit disrespectful in their tone when discussing our manager and you're right. he does deserve better than this. Setting aside the fact that he's a legend, has Rangers in his blood and has acted with dignity throughout his tenure as Rangers manager; he is delivering rubbish football with players that should be more than capable of providing a decent product on the park in Division 3. The fact is we have struggled in most games all season to demonstrate our superior quality and Ally seems unable to motivate the players to give us better. What makes you think he'll be able to cut it against better, more organised and fitter teams? A lot of his signings have been woeful (even prior to admin), and the ones who have arrived with a decent track record have delivered next to nothing and Ally seems to have no answers. I've no doubt this is one of the most difficult managerial posts in footaball but at this level this team should be able to at least string three consecutive passes together and win the majority of 50/50's. Mine and my sons season ticket is my commitment to my club along with my petrol, burgers, programme etc. I, like many thousands of others have attended every home game and have spent a small fortune to watch my team during difficult economic times. I love playing a part in the rebuilding of my great club but make no mistake, I'm entitled to be frustrated at having to watch a poor product when on paper there is absolutely no need for it. I'm happy to accept defeats, I'm happy to accept the odd duff performance here and there. However, I and many others are not happy to watch the same effortless and frankly feckless performance every week with no sign of progress. I accepted it at the start of the season due to our lack of pre season and a handful of players but we are no further forward in terms of performances than we were then. The players have a responsibility but ultimately it was Ally who signed them and Ally who has to figure out why they keep dishing out the same dirge week after week.
Ally will always be a Rangers great and he deserves our respect but not our blind faith just because he bleeds blue.

Baybear (couldnae sign in for some reason)

Personally I wouldn't give Neil Murray a penny to spend. He was just about the worst football player I ever saw at Rangers and so far his track record for scouting quality players is worse!

I think it has been a long standing issue at Rangers. We don't seem to scout very well. If you look at the major players we have bought recently, very rarely are they under 23 and very rarely is it anywhere outwith the UK, where bargains are to be had.

Unfortunately Celtic seem to have the making of us here, Wanyama and Ki have been fantastic business for that lot, as much as I hate tae say it.

caolbear

Ally will be given £10mil to spend but most of this will be taken up in wages. The money will pay for ALL the playing staff so don't be under any illusions about signing big money buys. But he will be given the money as promised.

Bay Bear

Good reply and agree, but would also give Ally at least to Xmas, remember this is a new squad with a lot of young guys with promise. Good Pre season, couple of free agent centre backs is a must

Baybear a good sensible response deserves a reply to quote the old saying you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.

Ally had seven young players Mc Cullough and Wallace at the beginning of the year, he was not informed of our admittance to the league until the 23rd hour leaving little time to get player's in whom he may have preferred. The signing ban is still in place so he could not sign any potential players he would have fancied. Fitba is a team sport and yes we are weak in some positions, but what can Ally do about that to change it until the ban is lifted? We are playing crap at the moment, but that crap was still good enough to put us 20 points ahead of all others in the division, which was the main target. Have patience my friend, back Ally and the club. This is a time for incremental improvement rather than postponed perfection. We have taken the first step on our triumphant return and I expect we will see a marked improvement post January.

Ozzie Al

Got to agree with the sender I think these signings McCoist has made were panic buys to get numbers now that cribari is the only Brazilian I know who hasn't got a first touch faure looks more like a programme seller. , there are players in league 2 and 1 that could do us a job and get us to the SPL without playing dross fitbo week in week out

Ozzie, Barca and the other fellie above :0)

First of all, cheers for the sensible debate. I take all your points and I agree with them to a point.
We will win this division despite the dross football, and Ally deserves some joy after the misery he's had to endure. I'm just not convinced he's the man to be let loose with a transfer kitty, although I hope he can prove me wrong. In some ways I suppose the transfer ban has given the fans and Ally an opportunity to test the water in that respect. He may not have had cash to spend but Ally and his backroom team have had time to identify players that he can bring on board in Sep and time to sound them out. It will be interesting to see who he can get in and more importantly who he can get shot of. Don't get me wrong, I don't hold Ally entirely responsible, Chuck Green has many questions to answer about players. The main one being why dish out such lengthy, expensive contracts for what were no more than panic buys? With the exception of Templeton I have seen nothing long term in any of the players brought on board. Also, who identified players such as Cribari, Faure and The Greek? I don't know about availability but surely there were one or two Div 1/2 players who would have been a better shout on shorter and less expensive contracts. Guys like this would have been much better equipt mentally and physically for the demands of Division 3 and in many ways, more aware of the privilege of playing for Rangers.
Christmas is probably a good shout for Ally and if he and his team haven't managed to get a decent product on the park by then we should be looking for a change. What I don't want to see is fans with banners demanding Allys head as this would be nothing but an insult to a great man. I'm sure Ally will know when his time is up and will leave with dignity if it comes to that.
All that aside, if he stays for another 10 years and we continue to play dross football I'll not be happy but I'll keep following the club I love.
As the old saying goes "You can only p155 wi the c0*k you've got" ;0)

Aw the best

The last time rangers did any real scouting was during the wild west when they found buffalo bill cody

What we had to buy in a late hour can be explained away, but what can't be explained away is the TOTAL TOTAL lack of improvement as a team and that is why ally will never make it as a Rangers manager. Les

Its a difficult position to be in if i'm honest- week in week out, rangers are not performing as they could. To reiterate a lot of guys on here- we had no option to get what players we could in. I do think we could have done better- i. e. by trying to get in seasoned lower league players with experience for the rougher side of lower league football. As much as I love ally to bits (rangers through and through and stood by us) I don't think he is cutting it.

A couple of other things though- this 7m loss will include a lot of costs when they club was taken over and also some monies that where paid out to other clubs for the company that ran the club before. I think the 10m in question will include tranfer fees and wages- but would I trust our current scouting staff to find ideal player. no. As sad as it sounds- I think we need an overhaul in backroom staff and management.

The bottom line is, pre season or not some of these guys were playing decent football in the SPL last few seasons. Temps was scoring against Liverpool in Europe, Sandaza was on fire for St Johnston and Shiels was playing well and scoring goals for his faither.
I've no doubt they're all on a few quid more now they're with us but suddenly they've become lacklustre, inconsistent and uninspired at best. These guys have proved they should at least be able to stroll Div 3 but they're making it look hard?!
Maybe that's the problem, maybe they're looking at it as a grind when they should be thinking "let's show off and give the fans a performance that they pay for?" or maybe I'm just hopeful that they're not as mince as they look just now.
Anyone who's played organised league football at any level will know that sometimes it's the teams you're supposed to pump that you have the most trouble raising your game for. But I have to stress that this is just 'sometimes'. not every week!
I don't know the answers but I know a man who's being paid handsomely to figure it out and he's not managing it.

If he cannae do it at this level with all the facilities and full time players at his disposal then I fear for our future if he remains at the helm long term.

After his 5 min cameo against the Milan legends I think he'd be better pulling on the blue jersey this weekend and showing the boys how it's done :0)
Coming to think of it. after that game I reckon Laudrup, Gio and Numan could still do a job terrorizing this Division :0) I'd even get Big Bertie in to show our Brazilian netball player how to defend!

Baybear

I, ll go as far as to say this season has been totaly wasted as far as the club is concerned as finding a manager and building a team has to start all over again as its as plain as the nose on your face that this can't go on it has no future there has been nothing built and there will never be anything built on this false foundation
Durrant Mcoist and all have to go there has to be a bright future can anyone say in all honesty Rangers have a bright future under Durrant and co? what is Durrants job is it to hold up the walls of the dugout
if there is to be cut backs he is the first on my list of savings. Les

Rangers have been rank rotten all season with no sign of improvement,
fair enough ally has had difficult circumstances to manage under but i'm sure I could get together a team from my local boozer to challenge for div 3.
let's face it mcoist is clueless his backroom staff are useless and his chief scout is a nobody, its a disgrace that after the financial mess rangers were in we are paying up to 7k a week for some of these imposters wearing a blue shirt to win div 3?, there are no tactics. no direction and worst of al, they don't even seem fit!i wouldn't trust mcoist with any money whatsover, its time for a total change of management, backroom staff and find someone who has an eye for a player and at least has some tactical knowledge of the game.

ian

To Bob the builder in the above post. How would you build a house if none of the building suppliers were allowed to sell you any bricks, concrete, plumbing etc. the answer is you could not. I am probably one of the few that can actually recognise the nucleus of a good team because I am not constantly bombarded with the propaganda that you boys do in Glasgow spread by you know who. The reason for this is because they fear us coming back as we will. Great teams are built. I remember Ally himself being written off as a player when he first started with Rangers, just be patient. When we get to better pitches and get a couple of decent defenders signed you will see a big improvement.

Ozzie Al

Al i'm sorry that you fall into. well be better when we get more give us more and well be ok. its been the mantra at Ibrox since I went during willie Waddles time
When is rangers going to improve what they have. something very sadly missing now
if Rangers can't make better use of what they have NOW then it will all be for nothing
we need a backroom team who can IMPROVE what is there
heres a thing the young boys and backroom staff if they can't hack it in division 3 then WHY were they ever there in the first place we are still going to pay for check book management and have learned NOTHING just NOTHING
ask yourself can ally buy cheap improve and sell on players. I think not. so he has no future at Ibrox. the long game has to be looked at and ally ain't in it in the long term. Rangers got a chance to take a penalty kick this season and show what the could do. what have we got people talking about giving up season books. Les

These same young players that you say cannot hack it in the 3rd division. May well win it this weekend with 20 points to spare. Shows not only a lack of intelligence on your part and definitely zero knowledge of the game of fit a.

Ozzie Al

Yes I know what I see
a question. I don't know the answer here but I have a hunch how many times have Rangers fallen behind at home against 3rd division sides this season?
im not going on about the youths i'm going on about everyone wanting people being brought in when we don't make the best of what we have. and even you must know that we have made very little of what we have this season. Little could be better
Sandaza has to be better, the Brizilian just must be better, templeton has not been used to his best, McKay has drifted in and out
so do we bring in new players to a system that can't get the best out of what we have. answers on the back of a stamp. L ES

Al. i'm not saying the some of these players can't make it in division 3. i'm saying that the whole ethos the whole way of working is wrong and i'm sorry the way of working of the management team has been shown to be. not good enough
when ally had the cup game his teams lacked spirit and drive
his teams still lack spirit and drive
and with the the way the club is just now lack of spirit and drive is the last thing we need. how long before lack of spirit and drive moves on to the terraces. then were all in it
sorry Al spirit and drive should be a given a right with the way things are for us now. Les

Any supporter who is in it for a quick fix is either a glory hunter or not a true ger. I suffered many a cold night in the seventies at Ibrox on cold nights with a crowd of maybe 10,000. These were the true supporters of the club. Hear a lot of people on here giving the management and coaching staff a hard time. Jenny Mc Dowall had three successful seasons with Celtic as first team coach where he built a team to win championships of the great Rangers. He then came to Rangers when asked by Walter and in his first season took the championship back for Rangers. He has taken a. Massive drop in wages and could earn more at other clubs, but his love of Rangers will see him build a team to take the championship back to its rightful home very soon. This is what you call a true supporter with more football brain in his little toe than most of the fair weather supporters who post on here.

Ozzie Al

Yes Al was there for a good bit of the Greig era. no i, m not a glory hunter. Christ I've just came back after working continental shifts for 24 years and won't be going anywhere anytime soon. so after 2 shares and 2 season books last year hefty for me
your telling me to shut up and put up
and watch a Rangers side freeze like a rabbit in some headlights at home to a 3rd division side and you call ME stupid. If Ally can't find a Captain to drive this club forward then we are back calling each other names next season brother and ill say right now Ally won't find this man in Honduras, Mexico, or the Irish republic. so Al we, ll beg to differ right now but I think we may cross swords again over this matter, I, ll say again Rangers teams with Ally in charge lack drive and spirit I can see that for myself
i, ve no papers to say i'm qualified to give this opinion but its just cost me 1. 5k to find out this year
i can see no way how drive and spirit should suddenly appear unless its bought in
[yes buying in something we can't produce or nurture ourselves]and that takes me back to what I've been saying. Les

Just think with all that happened to us this season we did well to win the division. Sure we have not been great and at Rangers the expectations are always high, nothing wrong width that Les, but we also have to keep it realistic with where we are at right now.

Ozzie Al
