Cuellar and Millar? All depends on money. I would like to see a fully fit Carlos Cuellar back, Miller too, providing it doesn't cost us too much. We do need a centre forward, though Naismith can do a similar job to Millar and we have youngsters breaking through. I suspect the only people who really know where they are going to be playing this season are the players and their agents themselves. (Agents seem to be the deciding factor in most transfers these days) Midfield is where we are short. Davis is a real boost, I feared he may leave, but I am delighted he has signed on for another 5 years. Gattuso is not a good deal financially, unless he is coming on a free and willing to play on a relatively cheap salary with appearance money built in. Eremenko on the face of it seems a cheap option. He has SPL experience, and though I would question his fitness levels, I am sure the club would be aware of his weaknesses and able to work on them if he signed. He would be a good squad player with potential to be a first team regular. I would like a decent creative midfielder in there to take the pressure off Davis. I think we have the finest young Scottish midfield prospects I have seen in years coming through in the likes of Wylde, Hutton and Ness. (Fleck still leaves me with doubts as to his ability to make the step from potential to the real thing) but we cannot rely on the young talent over an entire season. The lad from Paraguay looks a real find, and I think he would be a fantastic signing for the club, though his performances recently will have undoubtably alerted a lot of other clubs. I hope we can get the 4 players at least that we need, but until I see them being unveiled at Ibrox, I will remain sceptical.

Journalists have to write stories to sell newspapers. Sensationalism is the norm, as the more sensational the article, the more likely, gullible people willpick up the newspaper and buy it. Why let the truth get in the way of a good headline? Time and time again they are wrong. Having signed only Juanma Ortiz, Ally needs to get others in quickly.
It seems Den Haag winger Wesley Verhoek will not be one of them, though.
Reports surfaced in Holland yesterday that a £2million deal was imminent but senior Ibrox sources - who admit they have been monitoring the player - revealed they had decided against making an offer for the player.
The 24-year-old is being chased by a host of Dutch clubs but is believed to want a switch to the UK - to a team in the Champions League.

Carlos Cuellar is ready to defy Aston Villa boss Alex McLeish - and turn down a move to his old club Rangers.

The Spanish defender has been cleared to rejoin the Glasgow giants in a deal worth around £1.5 million, but he has opted to snub the chance.

Cuellar's future at Villa is in major doubt but he is prepared to see out his contract. He has stayed away from training and is in his native country awaiting developments.

Right bears, lets get sensible about this. If players don't want to come to Rangers, fight it out in the best derby in the world, win trophies and play in the champions league, then do one. I for one think our new wage policy and signing policy are spot on. Davis, Whitts, Greegs, Naismith and Jelavic all on long term deals so if they want to go someone has to offer decent money. No more selling our top scorers for nowt. Let conway go and fight it out in a long tough league, let others play in the spanish and italian second division, i'm not arsed. we've got a championship winning team still together, remember that the loaness who went never played that much, especially in the last 10 games. I'll take Bartley back no probs, i'm undecided about Weiss, he bleeds blue but didn't show it often enough for me. Loads of potential tho I honestly think we're on the verge of something decent, A strong nucleus to the squad, some fantastic youngsters coming thru and no financial woes, unless we start offering silly money. We ain't skint, you celts on here. Players who have proved thereselves are getting 25k-ish which is good money, probly win bonuses for players earns them a bit more.
I think we should stick in for Wallace, may get him for 1.3 or 1.5m. He's a good left back and probly worth it in the long run. Hopefully get cueller, boughy stays? and all of a sudden we're hard to score against. I've posted a few times before that i think Mcullough may be the captain, depends on how many games weir plays. Also, final point on this post. Naismith to grow into a superstar this year. He was my player of the first half of the season last year despite Miller's goals and if he cuts out the diving (yes he does) and calms down the moaning (just a bit mind), i think he'll be a revelation. Remember Arsenal really fancied him at one point. The boys class.

i have posted on here alot over the summer, and so far everything i said has been right.
1st off i said conway would move south, that happened.
2nd i said there would be bids made to bring cuellar and miller back, that happened.
I also said mcgregor, papac, and davis would all sign new contracts, that happened.
And lastly i said back in december that bursaspor and fiorentina both wanted kenny miller, again, that happened.

Now, i have heard, from the same source that told me kenny would be off to either bursaspor or fiorentina, that kenny miller WILL sign by the end of this week for £600,000 and he will be on a contract of £24,000 per week.

rite guys i can tell u that we will get neither Ziani or Verhoek interest is far to high in them Ziani will be wanting high wages ... the guys is pretty good more of a winger than attacking mid like iv seen on here ... pretty quick and has very good technique and quick feet .... id imagine he wants in excess of 30k a week and if he is in talks with Quatar teams then forget it they can offer loads.... Verhoek id also take in a heartbeat but i assume that our board heard what sorta wages he will be after and didnt bother.... we need to find targets on the quiet unless other teams are already sniffing about as I get the feeling that Whyte will not budge from his wage structure or will not giv in to bartering when other clubs are involved.

Good and bad we'd all love to see these sorta players at ibrox but i dont wanna see us over pay wages for players that seemed to be all to common in the past.

A question to all the fellow bears out there ....

what would be a succesful season for us this year ....

for me i only care about the league and champ league qualification the only two musts the rest can fight for scraps like last season.

He is very close friends with Majid Bougherra (Algeria) so the only real chance will be if Bougy signs a new contract unless Ziani wants to play in a more well known league. The SPL isn't great but name me a Qatar team just off the top of your head

evening times says bursaspor want 650k for miller. with the asking price so cheap and miller supposedly desperate to come back to gers surely the deal will be done soon. i know people have their own opinions on a miller return but you only have to ask yourself 1 question. where are rangers going to get another 20+ goal a season striker (that they know can play well in the spl) for 650k? post answer to that question but dont just say the same crap that hes had his chance, left sinking ship etc.

The question i posted is the question ally has to answer and so far only 1 other name has came up. john carew i think would be a good signing but he has never scored 20 goals in a season and only managed 2 goals in 26 app for villa and stoke(loan) last year so i believe kenny miller is still the best option but other opinions are welcome. its easy to come on here and post stupid rumours or say things about miller. not so easy to come up with realistic signing targets

Kenny Millar will turn down Cardiffs offer if Rangers offer him 26k a week and 4 year deal, which Whyte will not sanction. Millar believes he is worth what McGreggor is getting, and of course it was money in the first place that made him leave and take his 40-50k week in Turkey, so its a massive wage cut
