Ian Black charged with the SFA with betting on matches he has been involved with.
Believable60
Unbelievable14
Thats not what it says he has been charged with breaching betting rules doesn't mean he took part In a match
Agree1
Disagree3
If this is true then he should be sacked as a rangers player its the kind of negativity we do not need at this time. I already wanted him out and now if he is guilty of this I will pay his taxi fare away from our club.
Agree1
Disagree0
He has bet against his own team. Wether he played or not is neither here or there. If he played he could influence the game. If not he would have insider knowledge of the tactics, injuries and state df mind of his team mates. Either way it's wrong
Agree5

3 counts of betting against his then registered club to win and 10 counts of betting on matches involving his then registered club. agree it doesn't mean he was playing, but if he was betting against Rangers last year that might explain some of his p*** poor performances.

Wee rat after perfformance at Tannadice last year should never have kicked a ball again for us

Actually @1 It's just been on the BBC news that he WAS playing for his team of employment at the time of some of the offences.

Think hed be able to give me numbers for euro millions tuesday night? big jackpot doug t. s. o
Agree0

What if he just put a coupon on? This could constitute betting against or betting for. If that is the case, I think it is nothing serious. If he has put 5 grand on Rangers to get beat in a single bet, that is a different matter.
Agree1

Sandaza got sacked for less.
Agree1

And would it make much difference to who won division 3 last year and league 1 this year? doug t. s. o ps that's why I've stopped going to games this year fed up listening to the whiners
Agree1

One of games mentioned is game v Albion Rovers THIS season in which he scored! can't help but think that if he is found guilty, he should be given his P45. Inexcusable.
Agree1

If found guilty will free up a good bit of wages he will not be a great loss to Rangers.

The guy deserves a fair hearing, if proven then he should have his contract terminated, more negativity around our club, when is it going to end?
Agree1
Disagree0
If this is proven correct then he needs to suffer the same fate as Sandaza, I agree, Big Fran did a lot less wrong. Black doesn't have the class to pull on a Rangers shirt and I don't just mean his ability as a footballer, he was a disgrace last season week in and week out and I personally would like to see the back of him at Rangers.
Agree1
Disagree0
Some on here worry me, it frees up wages? Is it not a worry that a player hasn't been trying for nearly 2 years now, black is been taking free kicks and corners like my 4 year old getting 7k a week doing it, A fair hearing? Did sandaza get a fair hearing?

As with everything you need to give him the benefit of the doubt until its actually proved. I would still play him on Friday and then see what happens. It's wrong for people to come on here and pronounce him guilty before the hearing has taken place. That's a basic right for everyone. IF found guilty then yes he should be sacked immediately
Agree0

End of the day guys, show me a player that doesn't bet on football matches or any other bet?! That's what happens when you pay these normal, average guys over-inflated wages for their day job and they work for around 14 hours a week! Tell me what would you do with your grands and free time every day?! I personally know a few SPL players and I can guarantee you they frequent the bookies more than the average man! Not saying I condone the circumstances around this specific incident, but just pointing out that I can tell you it certainly isn't isolated! J
Agree0

Any player betting on his own team to lose surely must be fired
black is not the only player guilty of this it sounds like he owes some one money
Agree0

Sandaza was suspended while the matter was investigated. I would imagine Black may be the same. Either way, he won't get sacked and will still be at Rangers, like it or not
Agree0
Disagree0
Celtic fan here, don't think he'll be the only one gambling on football but if he's gambling online then he is a mug as it must be the easiest way to find a paper trail so to speak. Brains and footballers don't seem to go hand in hand!
Agree0
Disagree0
Quite simple really, it's against the rules of the association his employers adhere to. He must have left a paper/evidence trail for it to get this far. Does this rule bar players immediate family/relatives? Where does it stop? Easily get a mates cousins uncles brothers best mates aunty to place bets. Sounds like he is a numptie as mentioned earlier
Agree0
Disagree0
Im assume he bet that all his freekicks would be off target and his pens hit weakly and nowhere near the corner of the goal
Agree0
Disagree0
He's been charged but let him respond THEN if guilty throw the book at him, UNTIL then give him the benefit of the doubt!. What I will say it is not right for any player to bet on his own team to win, lose or draw as they have inside knowledge of their own teams strengths and weakness for any individual game.

Could there be another Ian black? Just saying lol. Honestly though if he has done it then shame on him paid enough for playing football. Next question is if this has been going on for a few year why is it only now it is being reported on, same as the person specification that Craig whyte passed, again just saying

This is only the tip of the iceberg more players from clubs all over Scotland will follow that is why the PFA are worried

It sets a dangerous precedent if he is sacked. It has never been a secret that footballers bet on matches. What happens if we sack Black and it turns out half the team we also at it? We'd be left with no players and would be tied up in expensive legal cases for months as players appeal the sackings.
I agree that if he bet on his team to lose a match he was playing in he was wrong, but the exact circumstances of the bets has to be looked at. If its a couple of quid on an accumulator, I think a slap on the wrist would do. If it's a big-money single bet then it could be seen as match-fixing.
We may have no choice but to sack him but we must proceed with caution. {Ed001's Note - UEFA and SFA rules are quite explicit in forbidding players betting on matches they are involved in. Any players found guilty of doing so would not have a leg to stand on in a legal case. In fact they could face legal action as it could be seen as a case of match fixing, hence why it is banned.}

Trust me when I say this my fellow gers fans, Inverness caley thistle manager terry butcher will be the new rangers manager once the boardroom power struggle has been won by green's backers, this is a 100% done deal and I can assure you my solid source of this info is most definitely in the know, butcher has already been in talks with rangers and has been sounded out and is very honoured to have been given the chance to manage his beloved rangers, but he wants everything done above board & properly as he is a close friend of ally mccoist, terry butcher will be our new manager before the end of September I'm 100% on this & I'll come back on here once its confirmed guys blue nose archie

Who is going to wanna walk into rangers at this time? Why leave a secure job to walk into what ally has to deal with? I'd imagine terry butcher is a bit more clued in than that. Unless of course he knows something we dont?

How can u speak to someone behind the managers back and claim it is being done above board? Another poor attempt at a rumour
Agree0

I believe that McCoists days are numbered if the current board stay in place, however not sure it will be Butcher that will take his place, if he has had talks about taking over the managers job then he has no right to call himself McCoists friend
Agree0
Disagree0
How much did you put on bet and at what odds. ?
Green did same at Sheffield - always talk of next manager. undermine current, pick team, sell players he hates, buys players he owns.
Note: I think Green will win EGM as he ahs 30m shares he can purchase at any time most folks forgot about, at 1p, that's just £30k and it buys 20% of rangers.

If the current Board stays in place and the spectre of Charles Green returns then I don't see McCoist being there for too long. I doubt however that it would be Butcher that got the job, more likely to be one of Green's cronies!

Sad to see the way things go here. Mcoist so far, has won both league games on the trot. We did lose the cup game but if you forecast mcoists comment end of last season they did mention we would have a tricky period during the first four weeks without being able to field new signings. A team was cobbled together last season and did not bad considering. Once the teams full squad can play let's judge mcoist then. As for green all he's after is money. How many execs do you see handing out cups of tea to fans buying season tickets. A car salesman and nothing more. Gone are the days of the the mols, de boers etc. We will get there but have some time for the lad that Is rangers through and through. Be sure there's more behind the scenes than we know. The mighty gers will rise again as long as we get rid of the fast buck brigade. starting to look like leeds all over. Do not turn on the lads the love the mighty gers or it will be leeds again.

Re the Butcher story, I was told months ago in Inverness ay people with direct connexions with ICT that Butcher had turned down the championship jobs because he would be Rangers manager before Christmas. Either there is some truth in this or a lot of connected people are way out on a limb!
Agree0

I think Terry Butcher would be a great rangers manager.
BUT this is Ally's squad and as long as we keep climbing the divisions to get back to the SPL as quick as possible that's all that matters.
IMO he can lose the odd game hear and there and get put out the cups as long as we win the league.
If we don't get promoted in consecutive seasons then I can see us going back into administration.
If Ally doesn't get the team up this year then he has failed and a new manager should be brought in.
Whether that's Terry Butcher, Stuart Mcall or Walter Smith?
Agree0

No no it can't be true terry butcher has to stay to keep beating or drawing with celtic

Apparently still there training. As when they arrived they were miles behind in terms of fitness and training. This I assume means that Ally maybe gave them a longer trial period to get fit and prove themselves.
