Think its a month now since the Copa America and Marriapa's last game for Jamaica. His contract was not renewed by his club and I not heard anything about him figuring with any other club side. If he saw match yesterday on TV and the Gers defence, he would have seen the opportunity that could await him. I have a sneaky feeling he could yet end up at Ibrox. Believe he came thru that Watford academy and will be some sort of bond with MW (although maybe Brenda too! )

17 Jul 2016 19:28:16
After yesterday's defensive display, really hope this happens!

17 Jul 2016 20:05:23
if he wasnt happy enough to come after 1st signing talks then i don't want him at all, its an honour to be a player for our club cash shouldn't be the be all and end all.

{Ed041's Note - Sadly it plays a big part now.

17 Jul 2016 21:16:52
When was the last dominant no nonsense centre half we had? Amoruso. gough weir? Warbs doing a wonderful job but needs to sort out centre half position. yesterday again showed our frailties in defence. Other than that squaday looks really strong.

17 Jul 2016 22:23:52
Cuellar, Bougherra.

17 Jul 2016 22:48:13
The problem as stated is neither of them is a leader, there is very little communication between them and neither of them tell each other to get in position like a weir, gough or amoroso would.
That's what's missing
Ricksen, Hutton, Stevie smith in his youth, Porrini, Numan etc all used to go forward but they had leaders behind them in these guys.

18 Jul 2016 09:52:19
Totally agree Northger. A decent team wuda been 2 up on us on Saturday. Hopefully warbs sorts it soon. Other than that we r doing real well. I think rossiter will be an absolute steal and along with barton will b bossing the mid. We play wonderful stuff at times albeit we sometimes try and walk the ball in the net. Looking forward to new season massively.

18 Jul 2016 08:18:45
I see there's not a lot of bears out there happy with our defence me either
I do think hill will take 1 of the CB positions he's a leader just hope he's got the legs.

But there's still a few weeks to go to the league starts and I'm confident we will get the right CB in as we are all in agreement that's a position that needs sorted ASAP
The Jamaican has still to find a club so it could still be us hope so but mcp will have other targets if it means spending money I'm sure we will have a defence sorted by 6th of August.

I think people need to cut Kiernan some slack here. He was out injured for the America trip and in his first game back. Clean sheet. He is constantly left open by his defensive RB partner and Halliday as we all know, is not a CDM. We are an extremely attacking side, but the moment we put in an ACTUAL CDM i believe we will see the best of our defense.

18 Jul 2016 11:36:10
I think Wilson and kiernan get criticised most of the time deservedly so at times but what I will say is for the position they play they are still relatively young and still have a lot of learning to do, they both might grow into it, but i really agree they are both easily out jumped at set pieces, and in the premiership worries me, it was easy to spot Motherwells tactics were to sit back and hit us on the counter attack, but if they had better forwards they could have been two or three goals up before tav scored, looking forward to see how clint hill performs tomorrow.

18 Jul 2016 12:18:00
Wee McDonald bossed RK on Saturday and there is much better than him waiting this season. Do feel some sympathy for RK but don't believe is battle ready for what awaits.

18 Jul 2016 15:07:49
I think Rab and Danny are solid defenders who do a decent job under the circumstances. Two world class defenders would struggle to man a back line by themselves. For me, our week link is Tav. Never a defender. Rab is left all too often to cover RB and this stretches the CHs and leaves the defence open like an Amsterdam hooker. Don't get me wrong, CHs are by no means perfect. They need to work on set pieces and communication but MW asks a lot of them and I don't think two new cracking CHs would make any difference. It's our style of play. As long as our attackers are doing their job and scoring more than the opposition, I for one will be happy.

18 Jul 2016 17:05:55
How can Wilson lack experience mate?
He's played for Liverpool, hearts and Rangers, twice, more experience than many, played for Scotland, played in CL, no, he's just crap.

18 Jul 2016 18:06:44
Northger most of us older guys would prefer a big tamm forsyth type player, the big guy didn't pussy foot about, heavy but fair tackling defender, oh for another big tam, never be seen again at our place.

18 Jul 2016 19:10:42
Danny Wilson in his first spell with us looked outstanding even as a raw teenager in spl and CL. It is sorely evident that Sir Davie gave him the leadership/ assurance he required. As I think Northger said. they do not communicate at all and neither do they take ownership. We need a no nonsense man like Bomber Graham Roberts gough or butcher. I don't doubt MW is doing his best to rectify situation. Is mariappa of that ilk? Anyone shed any light?

18 Jul 2016 23:59:17
My honest opinion is that Wilson is a lot better than keirnan, I wanted big rob to b the answer to our commanding cb issues but I'm loathed to believe he's even as good as mcgregor and is actually pulling Wilson down to his level now, Wilson has critics I know but the simple facts r he is a better defender, passers and is even more dominant than keirnan, my opinion of coursr.

17 Jul 2016 15:08:08
Not a rumour but anyone heard of what's happened of Matthew Knox of Livingston. We were obviously interested at start of summer just curious if he moved elsewhere or what's happening. Cheers.

17 Jul 2016 19:33:05
On the bench for Livy yesterday.

17 Jul 2016 14:30:25
I've heard through my mates dad who works for the agency company of Joel Ekstrand that rangers are trying to sign him. He would be on a free. not seen him play before, but can't be any worse than what I seen yesterday.

17 Jul 2016 15:09:00
That defence yesterday was shocking. You couldn't slide a cd under Kiernan when he jumps and Tavernier isn't a right back. Much better at right midfield.

17 Jul 2016 15:27:49
Ekstrand was a done but it broke down on Thursday night due to the details of the contract .
Dodoo to be announced in time to play on Tuesday night and 2 more moves to be in progress this week as the Hat wants his other 2 in to play Burnley .

17 Jul 2016 19:17:57
That's pretty precise blue, where'd you hear that?

17 Jul 2016 19:18:54
Win 2-0, clean sheet. Still some folk not happy! Get a grip.

17 Jul 2016 19:22:47
A good source who has been right plenty of times before unsure why it broke down possibly a failed Medical.

17 Jul 2016 19:44:49
Ok. Cheers.

17 Jul 2016 20:14:13
Scott85, any halfway decent team would have scored at least three against us.

17 Jul 2016 22:19:04
Blueboy, is any chance of him signing no over? Or is there still a chance he'll sign?

17 Jul 2016 22:54:32
To be honest I don't think so think we have moved on to other targets good chance it's to do with his medical as that seems to be the reason he didn't sign for Leeds although good chance he decided to come to us instead .
We need someone ready for the first team now not sure he would be up to speed till Oct November time.

17 Jul 2016 23:13:40
Weecheeky, I'm not massively disagreeing here that Motherwell had 2/ 3 half Chances. But if you watch football all doing the world as I'm sure you do youl see the very best who are dominating in their league ie Barcelona etc concede 3/ 4/ 5 really good chances almost every game, same with us. I hear people saying we need a no nonsense centre back etc but to get a centre bk who can defend like that and start from the back in terms of passing/ possession will cost money we currently and probably will never have. I am comfident with the squad we have to win this league.

18 Jul 2016 00:26:33
Hope we sign another central defender. Warburton obviously holding out for another loan deal for ball, possibly mariappa still on the cards as he hasn't signed for anyone else still.

18 Jul 2016 09:44:50
Think the criticism of kiernan and wilson a bit unfair. Most sides defend as a team, but last season it was entirely up to those pair, when defending set pieces. Nobody from attack or midfield was competent in the air or marking anyone else. Time after time, they are left exposed, as the midfield disintegrates in front of them. Halliday tried his best, but wasn't his game. If you look at it closely last season, we lost and drew a few games, because we didn't put the ball in the net. Often we had 75-80% of the play with 25-30 odd shots on goal, and yet were still hanging on to a 1 goal lead. The other team would get one or two chances and bury them. I'd be as much worried about that, than our Central Defence.

19 Jul 2016 16:43:57
Chinabairn not only do I fully agree but it's 100% true. It amazes me that 3 people have disagreed with this statement. If you know football and watch games closely, it's as obvious as a turd in the snow. They CBs have no cover and are left exposed. The guys in front of them and beside are as much to blame as them but really it's MW style of football that's to blame. I for one don't care. I love this style of football and don't mind losing the goals as long as we win. I certainly won't be moaning and putting pressure on Rab and Danny if it transpires that they are the CBs for the rest of the season.

19 Jul 2016 22:16:11
Tonight was a casing point oohah.20 odd shots on goal. about 10 clear cut chances one on one. And only 2 goals to show for it. We'll pay for this during season if it continues. Hill and Hodson looked good tonight.

17 Jul 2016 11:02:01
Tom Walsh joins st mirren till January good luck to him.

17 Jul 2016 11:25:57
Yeah agreed, most of the young boys will go out on loan.

17 Jul 2016 14:29:38
Good choice for the boy, decent level, good facilities and an ex Ger for a manager. Would love to see Falkirk and St Mirren 1st and 2nd this year.

17 Jul 2016 14:17:57
Good luck and learn your trade come back stronger and fight for your place.

17 Jul 2016 16:24:07
Any of the lads that are going out on Loan and not really going to get a game this season, i would try and get St Mirren to take them all, and hopefully St Mirren can get up if that's the case, good luck to wee Walsh.

17 Jul 2016 16:22:12
Recbob just for your post above im going to nip into the bookies tomorrow and see the odds for the forecast, might be worth a fiver just for the fun of it, lol, but it would also let me pay attention to the championship next season, but don't fret mate, the good good swally will be on me at the season end if it were to stoat, lol.

17 Jul 2016 18:25:59
