Hardly reckless? 15k a week plus bonuses let's say that's around £1M per season, not a bad price to pay for the team that won the Championship's player of the season, especially on a free transfer.

Granted he can be a twat, if Warbs and Davie think he's a good fit then we should trust their judgement. Could be what we need a bit of experience in the middle of the field, just need to strengthen in the back four.

Rumour is that we have a kitty of £5M for transfers including wages so in Rossiter and Barton Warbs he's spent £1.75M, so will be looking forward to who he can secure with the rest!

Main drawback with Barton is that his wage over 2 years is dead money. Region of 1.75 million. (no sell on value)

Rossiter on the otherhand (reportedly 10k a week) could have massive sell on value and is the way forward for us at this time imo.

B4RC4BE4R- It was a direct response to Bankiebear. I have zero clue as to Rangers' finances.

Hugh- As a player, I think he's decent. He was Burnley's POTY and considering they won the Championship, that's no mean feat. He played really well this year whenever I watched Burnley. They are set up slightly different to you and (assuming MW plays a same style next year - and all the evidence suggests he will) that would be my one concern. He slows down the play quite a bit. I'm not sure how that will suit your style. That said, he is a decent player and at SPFL level -- assuming it's not too quick for him -- he could be a quality signing.

Reason we can afford the higher wages is we are now back in the top league, that'll increase income by 5 million a year and because if that the board have allowed a 40% increases on the wage budget.

Looks like shields and law out and rossiter and Barton in, great replacements. Would rather sign a striker or defender though before anymore midfielders come in.

To go to burnley last season when nobody else would touch him both scousers aswell so i think it may be true.

The way i see it is Burnley have recieved a lot of cash for getting promotion and i don't think Barton 33 would be part of the plans as dyche will more than likely be trying to build a decent team for the epl. yes barton may be one of the manky mob but think he would do a job for rangers.

Barton was on talksport yesterday saying he would like to go into coaching sooner rather than later and would want to work under a thorough manager for a number of years first. Not saying this means he's got an eye on coming to rangers but he might see Warburton as the ideal man to learn from, any thoughts?

He was top class last season, was a bit of a tit in the past but seems to have matured and could do a good job for us in the short term.
