Rangers were today ready to make one final push to land Anderlecht defender Roland Juhasz � as the player held showdown talks with the Belgians over his future.
The move for the Hungarian appeared to be doomed earlier this week after Gers failed to meet the asking price, believed to be around £3.5million.
However, Ibrox gaffer Ally McCoist does not want to give up on landing the 28-year-old in time for him to be the wildcard signing ahead of next week�s crucial Europa League play-off tie against Maribor.
And, after fresh discussions with owner Craig Whyte today, Rangers were ready to up their £2.7m offer and hope that would be enough to finally get their man, just as he voiced his displeasure to Anderlecht over their stance.
Anderlecht have confirmed they want a further £175,000 tabled, whilst there is still a £175,000 agent fee to be paid, which Rangers are reluctant to do. The player himself may have to forfeit a signing-on fee to make the deal happen.
Anderlecht general manager Herman van Holsbeeck has confirmed that Gers� hopes of landing the player hinge on an improved bid.
He said: �I understand that Juhasz is mad with us just now and that he wants a new challenge.
�But we don�t want to sell him because he is a very important player to our club.�

Ally McCoist is not expecting Roland Juhasz to join Rangers this summer, although a return to the club for Danny Wilson could be on the cards.

Gers have seen numerous bids rejected by Anderlecht for defender Juhasz and McCoist's patience appears to have finally snapped.

The club seem unlikely to make any fresh offers having labelled their last bid a "more than fair" offer for the Hungary international.

"If they're saying the deal is dead then I would probably say the deal is dead," he commented on Juhasz.

However, as one door closes another could be open with McCoist interested in bringing Wilson back to Ibrox in a loan capacity.

The young Scot departed for Liverpool but has found first-team football hard to come by at Anfield.

Rangers were today ready to make one final push to land Anderlecht defender Roland Juhasz – as the player held showdown talks with the Belgians over his future.

The move for the Hungarian appeared to be doomed earlier this week after Gers failed to meet the asking price, believed to be around �3.5million.

Hope so... at the end of the day i dont see why anderlecht should let him go on the cheap, they valued him at 5.5M euros 2 seasons ago, now 4.5, the fact that they are willing to take �3.5M which in todays cash is 4M euros surely of we off load deadwood like Beattie for that amount we can just put it to that.

Beattie is not even on these days, gettimg paid to train, jelavic, Lafferty, naismith, healy, Hemmings are all before him I would say in that order. So why not flog him or Kerkar... Kerkar has played 7 mins of competative action since he arrived We could surely get rid of those 2 and broadsnib and have a gd 1.5M to invest back in to the squad

We had an offer accepted for Cuellar weeks ago so we know where we stand with McLeish and Aston Villa. It's the player himself who's not exactly showing a desire to rejoin. My opinion is either he's waiting it out to see if a better offer comes in or he's leaving it to the last minute so he can pick up more wages at Villa whilst he's injured. Hopefully it's the latter but i doubt it.

i dont see all the fuss about greg wylde leaving the boy has only played half a season in 1st team yes he has potential but that is all i go to rangers games home and away every week and tbh i havnt seen what the fuss is about .yes hes quick and can beat a man but some of his crosses are a bit wayward at times . if he doesnt want to stay then let him leave he is just another silly boy who believes his own hype .money grabber instead of establishing himself as a 1st team player and earning his big move . i want players who want to play for rangers jersey not for the money i mean its reported hes on just under 1000 pw still not a bad wage for a young guy when there is people out there who dont have a job ...bigt

Davidson - StJohnstone
Allan & Russell - Dundee Utd

Players that would not cost alot & could do a job instead of jonny foreigner {Ed032's Note - I don't see why not.}

From that list i think we will get murphy and davidson before the window closes,

allan needs a year to prove himself at dufc but pick him up on a precontract as he only has a year left on his contract for next summer, but ipswich is also looking at him.


mcgregor sadly out for the year but would be a good shout next season, hope he recovers soon
