Anyone else notice when Yilmaz came on in one of the last games he was playing sort of left mid, wing, as BB was still on. Wonder if they are going to convert him. I like him and the way he covers the ground, he's technically proficient so perhaps it would suit him playing further forward with less defensive responsibilities.

I like Yimaz as well mate but I do share toms theory that he’s too short to play left back in Scotland.

I think he’s a good player with a lot of good attributes, he’d be good as a left wing back but if we’re playing a 4 in defence he doesn’t suit us.

I’d definitely try and move him forward one, he wouldn’t be the first to move into mf.

Albertz was signed as a left back was he not?

Gareth bale also was a left back before moving forward by necessity due to injury actually.
Then Harry seen just how good he was.

Plenty others.
I’d give him a chance at left wing. Nothing to lose.

Should be sold and replaced.

Albertz wasn`t signed as left back although Walter played him there occasionally and he also wore the No 3 at times when not playing left back. I don`t rate the guy but Taylor at Celtic is no giant and they get away with, Yilmaz needs more coaching about his positioning and how to use his body to block off people jumping against him. He was a wing back in Turkey and probably has not been in these situations much but in Scotland he will have to get more physical and switched on at the back post. This can be taught though and now we have a proper manager, hopefully they will be working on this with him.

Wsl Taylor was in my mind when writing about yilmaz earlier but didn’t want to go on and on.

It’s a very good argument re his height mate.

19 Nov 2023 14:52:22
His height has very little to do with the fact that his final ball is very rarely effective and the fact that he seldom marks his man at set pieces or when defending- also like Barasic I feel he is happy to get subbed when minor injuries happen during games (ie not physical/ robust enough) - all in all I don't think the lad is a great left back especially for the outlay imho.

Btw wsl, jorg albertz was ? a left back when we signed him mate.
He was a left back for Hamburg, where he also wore the no3.
He was moved into mf by Walter due to his hammer o of a left peg.
That’s my recollection of it anyway mate and from reading on him at Hamburg.
I seen him in 3 and in 10 I think so maybe played both positions mate not really a big deal either way just thought I’d drop that back at ye mate ???.

yilmaz won't be here long, far too small for this league i'm his position, but i agree, hus distribution hasn't been good either, difficult to understand how some people can't see how his height and lack of presence isn't an issue, shankland was about twice his height above him when he scored, more teams would pressure him.

Tom, I agree. this is now his third manager yet none have had him as a regular. I'd look to offload him in January. better players available on a free.

Mark he has been injured a lot and that is the reason he hasn’t been able to get a run of games.
