Liking what am seeing from Lundstram now (my motm), trying passes he doesn't normally try and covering a lot more ground, Sima does a power of work, Danilo is impressing me with his movement, his finishing will come, Tavernier doing what he does outstanding free kick playing like his old self, lastly a mention for Wright he done very well when coming on driving us forward, i seen that as a very good move from Clement, love Cantwell but he was drifting inside far too often, loved Clement yapping at Dessers, that shows you the man we've got, don't work hard all times you won't be in his side, that doesn't take very long for players to understand, anyway good performance, hopefully we win the lc and start of the treble.

I agree my star that big lundstram is playing a lot better and more like he was in the last 6 months of the season we reached the europa league final ?My motm yesterday was our captain james tavernier ?I also agree with you that scott wright has done and is capable of making an impact on a game and there's absolutely no doubt wright made a massive impact yesterday ? Clement seems to like scott wright and has been quoted as saying he has the talent to succeed at rangers but in his mind has to believe that he is capable of playing for a club our size ? Now let's go and do a number on the sheep and bring this trophy back to ibrox ??.

I couldn’t agree more, I knew we’d pump them and every player stood up and was accounted. I’m still struggling to see Lammers and Cantwell both in the starting 11 together long term. What a difference in a short space of time.

I think cantwell should be playing in lammers position moving forward ?.

Great result and good to see big Phil showing desire re Dessers not shutting down in closing stages- he wants us to play to final whistle which has been lacking in past - we need to remove some of the stupid/ naïve, attempts at tackles from Cantwells game as we need him on the pitch for full match and I honestly thought PC hooked him at HT to save a sending off - also a needless petulant flick out by Davies for their penalty who sometimes looks to me to be disinterested at times (this could easily cost us in other matches) -its going to be interesting come Jan what positions PC will want to strengthen in, if funds are there or some wheeling/ dealing gets done- but now its getting a bit easier and more enjoyable watching Gers rather than stumbling along with no real direction - LONG MAY IT CONTINUE?.

Yeah I guess that’s what I’m getting at, I don’t think we’re seeing the best of Cantwell as his position has been moved to accommodate Lammers. I think whoever is in better form should start and the other guy needs to try and displace him.

06 Nov 2023 08:29:13
Correct coops, that’s Cantwell's best position.

Sir Walter / Dado I would be inclined to agree with you around the Cantwell/ Lammers conundrum, but Clement has got us playing much better and we are winning. I am deferring my thoughts and just accepting that Clement knows better than me/ us. He has us where we are already. He sees something that makes him choose Lammers and it is working out?

06 Nov 2023 09:02:51
Yeah I’m not in anyway disagreeing with the gaffer, he’s knocking it completely out the park just now, I can’t believe the difference in a few weeks.

I think the issue with Cantwell is that Clement, unlike Beale, has a structure and ethos that is all about "team". You hear him say it all the time and you see it in the movements the players are making, the patterns we see emerging often involving unselfish moves by players not to get themselves on the ball but others.

Lammers, as much as he's not affecting the game at all at the moment on the ball, his movement off it is somewhat effective.

Beale, like Gerrard and Gio before him seemed to have this approach of get it into the final third, get your "good players" on the ball and wait for them do do something. We saw it with Kent, Morelos, Aribo and laterally Cantwell.

Clement doesn't appear that way and frankly I'm delighted by that. He's far more focussed on patterns and finding ways to break teams down as a team, rather than relying on individuals.

I don't think Cantwell has adjusted to that yet.

I think he can and I agree his best position would be where Lammers is and to be fair to him it must be a difficult transition from main main with all the freedom you want to one cog in a more defined structure. It'll take some time.

The final thing I want to add to this concerns Raskin.

I've said for a while that I didn't think he was as good a player as many of our fans thought. Talented, yes, but with a long way to go. Defensively he loses concentration and on the ball he is often wasteful. Could never question his work ethic and that side of his game, the dirty side, is his main strength at the moment. BUT, and I acknowledge its also more games with a new manager getting used to things, we've looked a better side for me with him not in the middle of the park. Lundstrum and Jack aren't everyone's cup of team, but they've arguably been the best pair we've had in there this season the last 2 games.

Actually, 1 more thing. Delighted for Scott Wright. I've always been an advocate of him as a squad player and maintained that if he was any nationality bar Scottish coming from Aberdeen our fans wouldn't harass him nearly as much. Clement is getting a tune from him just now to the point where he replaced Cantwell at half time yesterday, who many rate as our best player, and Wright made us better. He has been good in all the games he's played for Clement so far.

gdog - good post.

I don't agree with all of it but well thought out.

Great Post gdog.

Scott Wright seems to be better inside the pitch more, he carries and runs at defences which defences hate they like to push players wide, Lawerance does this as well and is a way to break the low block ??.

06 Nov 2023 16:35:59
keeping wide is what breaks the low block down though. running through the middle just let's them crowd the box. he scored the goal simply because of quick decisive passes and that's what we have all said. hit them hard and fast with accurate passes.
