Just a quick point about Davis, Arfield and McGregor. A lot of people felt that as a club we were standing still by giving these three new deals. Davis best player on the park today, absolute class. Arfield game changer last week. McLaughlin couldn't lace McGregors boots, and doesen't command his defence the way McGregor does.
Great win today, delighted for Colak and Morelos. Give Colak service and he will score goals. Morelos needs to shift a good few pounds again to get fit. The goal will do him the world of good.
Its really clear how much we miss Kent in our attacking play, hope he's fit soon.

I still don’t believe Davis, Arfield and McGregor should have got new deals.
Can anyone say the team has progressed when people are wanting / having to rely on the above 3?
For me it points to regressing never mind standing still.
And if Davis is our saviour can you see him performing at the highest level for 2/ 3 games in a row never mind 50 times a season?

Davis is a class act, but no spring chicken. Does it not say something, that despite signing all these new players the manager preferred Davis. New players can't be up to much if we still have to rely on the oldies. And where was Matondo, anther new signing deemed not good enough for a starting position. I am not impressed by RW signings and neither is Gio!

Is Matondo not being eased in due to small injury he had . The reason I feel we kept the 3 mentioned players above is you can't expect a full new team of players to gel right away and so far it's proved he was correct in doing so .
I have no doubt when we have our first eleven settled and used to playing together we will look like a different team.

I agree with you MPH 100%. Standing still at best. We should have bought a new keeper but we didn’t and it’s either JM or AM.

Not a dig at you spud mate, but your post looks out of character as you usually point out some of our posts as negative.
I never accept a post as "negative" they are only peoples opinions and concerns (just like your post) .
My own personal opinion just now is, we are a long way off to winning back our title and won't last long in the EU leagues this season.
Also, the tims are now up to speed in all their competitions including the EU under Angiball who was to be off by his first Christmas by some on here.
It was lenny's team and Stevie G's that allowed us to win the league and I sorely miss Lenny the wee nyaff.
I pray I am wrong, but as I say I have my doubts and fears.
I did not see the tims game, but judging by their result and their usual late winning goals, they unlike us have found a way to break down park the bus teams by tireing them out till near the end of their games when they then go for the jugular.
Our results against the tims will either convince me if I'm right or wrong (the latter preferably) .

Morning folks, I agree with most of the comments, but to say Allan commands his defence is wrong, he is a brilliant shot stopper, but causes mayhem at times by not coming for cross balls, Davis and Arfield offer the most of the 3, I'm not saying that Allan is not great, but he is not agile enough now to be our No 1 keeper, just my opinion folks.

So did we yesterday BB, I feel that we overrate that other lot, they did nothing in Europe under Angieball last season, and I would be surprised if his gung ho attacking football will be any better this season. I really feel that we will come good both domestically and in Europe again this season, but if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, as someone said the Forum is peoples opinions which is great.

Agree irvger, I don’t rate THEM at all and am confident we have the better team but we do need to gel a bit as it is disjointed at times. I think Gio has the mesasure of them also. If we don’t make CL in all honesty I am not going to lose sleep about it and made the same point a couple of months back. Right now EL is our level and we have unfinished business from last year and I would relish another crack at it. CL would be great but not sure we’d have euro football after Xmas and we have more depth to compete on all fronts this season so can dominate domestically aswell.

Just wondering if anyone else thinks that Gio might actually know a thing or 2 about football?
Just maybe he kept the experienced heads like Davis, Arfeld and McGregor to help bed in the new signings who will take over from the old timers as the season progresses?
Guess the alternative is to dump the old guys and stand back and watch us flounder as the new boys take time to adjust to the SPL and the needs of our boo-boy brigade on the terraces.
Just as well we still have them since half of the new boys have already been written off - joining the club that Tav, Morelos, Goldson, Lundstrum were all part of for a good part of their first season.

Fully agree Jeff, I wasn't a fan of giving them new contracts but in reality we could not have replaced any of the three with better quality players in the short time although I do believe that we have the players on our books to replace both Arfield and Davis. We need to bring on a quality keeper.

I also thought it was wrong to give Steven Davis a new deal, But I don’t mind if I’m proved wrong.
