Quick question

If and it's a big If
These new signings fail to impress fail to cement a place in the team and don't perform to the standards required and we find they end up getting treated like many past signings don't get game time etc

do we have to look the whole Ross Wilson position going forward since it's his final decision that brings all these players in so I'm led to believe?

just a question for the forum?

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally, I think Ross Wilson is doing a fantastic job and we're fortunate to have him. Ultimately, he only keeps his job based on performance, but that will be based on performance across the entire club, not just at 1st team level, in my opinion.

Of course along with Gio as I'm sure he had a hand in bringing them in.

Wilson and the board have delivered, we just need to give the players time to gel. I’d say last night was only the second time Gio has got his tactics wrong which isn’t a bad record. It’s just a shame the two games he’s got it wrong have been massive games for us.

A fes days ago we were lauding RW for the signings yes last night was poor but let's not right off the signings fgs.

people were saying how good rabbi and Lawrence were after west ham now a bad game in Europe and boom knifes out for Wilson.

One game and already players are getting written off. let's give guys a chance to settle in before judging them.

If we wanted to pin all on him then only fair we pin the credit for Bassey, Aribo and the massive profit too.

Not going to get every transfer right, I'd lean towards he is still doing OK.

Many good players than off nights, I am very happy with the signings this window. Yilaz Matondo Tillman i think we have very good players in them.

03 Aug 2022 21:23:47
I would also sign a very good keeper.

03 Aug 2022 21:33:12
No simple answer, if all fail it may go way beyond one man.

The likelihood is some will be good but not all.

That's life, hopefully some like Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo will do well enough to pay for themselves and a few that don't make the grade and others will be moved on with a small gain or loss allowing us to keep progressing.

Not every transfer works, it is the overall result when taken together that will tell us if he is earning his corn.

Think we've done quite well in the transfer market with regards to keeping the club in the black and having a squad that should compete with a few players that could be developed and sold with good profit like Patterson, Bassey and Aribo. Weve brought in Matondo, Kolac, Davies, Ridvan, Lawrence and Tillman. Not all will hit the ground running but i'm happy with the pedigree of the new recruits. Its a hypothetical question that I hope we don't need to answer.

It's a good question stig. It got the debate going for sure.

How many games are you going to give before they 'bed in'
If we don't get through August we are screwed.

Strangely enough with the exception of Bassey and other young players signed by Wilson, this is the first close season that I felt he had signed some quality players that weren't carrying injuries or were just not good enough. I would have liked to see a quality back up for Morelos and I'd like to see Roofe moved on. Most of all I feel we desperately need a quality keeper to replace McGregor. He can't go on for ever and he is still by far the best keeper at our Club which says it all about the others!
