Just about calmed down from last night, just want to come back to a wee point I made on here when gio made the decision. I said at the time I thought releasing Leon balogun was a mistake snd said that out of all the players who got new contracts I felt he deserved another year the most. Does anybody else think the big man would have made a difference livi away and last night? I certainly do we look all over the place at lcb.

Agree0 Disagree0

Defo agree with you.

I agree i wanted to keep him, purely because he was more reliable in terms of fitness than Helander and he wasn't on big wages. I know we've signed Davies and Souttar but they both need time to get up to speed and let's be honest, Souttar has his injury problems well documented also.

James Sands is a holding midfielder, he is capable of filling in at CB but not sure he's good enough to play there week in, week out. definitely not in big games anyway.

We’ve got 2 injury prone CBs in Helander/ Souttar keeping a 3rd one would be just stupid.

He definitely would have done something. Don't like to be negative but Sands was disappointing so too was Jack. Matundo didn't turn up and starting to think everyone has stopped speaking to Barasic. The ball on numerous occasions was on left line easy to pass to him complete switch via 3 players to Tav on right. Youth players could have made more effort. Hopefully the 12th man at Ibrox can make them flick the switch. Gurning done lol ?.

I’d imagine Leon balogun would have done better last two games if he was still at the club and fit enough to play. He was often injured and unavailable. Hellander would have probably done better but again never available, does anyone know when hellander might be available?

Nice reply Copland, classy ? balogun didn't actually miss a lot of games. Far less than Jack, souuter and helander, and played a lot more than davis and arfield who got new deals so you have kind of missed the point I was trying to make just to have a dig?

03 Aug 2022 10:58:23
He certainly would have made a difference - remember how he played against the other mob - he was a 100% fir the jersey and i said at the time it was a mistake letting him go / as for Sands last night absolutely shocking - not good enough to be a Rangers player - the rest were not much better - Tillman started well but faded as the game went on - hopefully this was a blip never to be repeated but we were all over the place it was embarrassing.

03 Aug 2022 11:28:20
And remember the games when he was also a bomb scare!

03 Aug 2022 11:39:26
I agree with you Herewego55 ? i would have given leon balogun another 1 year deal ?.

03 Aug 2022 11:55:25
Wasn’t a dig, it’s true. More than 1 player can be injury prone.

He’s missed 22 games through injury since he signed for us and at 34 he’s not going to get any better.

The point I was making was that financially it would be reckless to have 3 injury prone cbs.

03 Aug 2022 12:00:11
I actually don’t see how you could’ve took that as a dig tbh but okay.

03 Aug 2022 12:06:49
Balogun should still be with us. Much better than sands who can play anywhere apparently ?. I have a bad feeling about our defence this year. I think a sweeper is needed in front to tidy up and fill gaps when required. Possibly Sands in that role but not at CB.

03 Aug 2022 12:42:41
Copland is right re Balogun imo,
Add helander roofe and Jack, possibly Souttar who could be out for three months

We need to in time move them all all, no new deals,
