Yesterday was a difficult watch particularly in the first half, however unlikely to be a pattern of the whole season. From reading posts from yesterday there seems to be a few themes.
Yes Souttar had a difficult day but he certainly was not only player at fault for the goal. I feel he will get better but is likely to have to fight for his place as Davies being a left sided centre half with will certainly bring more balance to the defence

Those having a go at Colak after one game I find ridiculous as he had very little service. The one good ball he received he absolutely burried and if VAR was in (still can't believe they are introducing half way through a season) it may well have counted. I will say that he needs to work on his first touch as he had a few half chances yesterday and was let down by it.

If Tillman continues to have these types of cameo's it won't be long till he has nailed down a first team place. I would be interested to see how much the option to buy is for.

A final word on Ryan Kent who was also getting so stick. His end product was poor in the first half but certainly improved in the second where he had the beating of the right back and provided an assist. What actually impressed me the most was his work rate and tracking back. He won the ball back several times which is something he hasn't always done in the past and hopefully is a sign of things to come.

A difficult start for sure but I would have taken a nervy 2-1 prior to the game against an always dogged Livingston.

Agree0 Disagree0

Kent wouldn’t need to track back or win the ball back if he never lost it so much in the first place?
And Souttar’s error at the goal wasn’t his only mistake. He got skinned at the half way line and only Goldson standing up to the big Livi striker prevented a second goal. He also was borderline for a second yellow.
The defence was much more composed when Sands came on.

That big striker for livingstone made an big impression on me yesterday, very good player for them.

31 Jul 2022 12:56:47
I don’t have a problem with Colak, it’s good to have a striker who wants to do most of his work in the opposition’s box rather than coming deep.

31 Jul 2022 13:04:56
Thought the whole team was poor in the first half with the exception of Wright. Second half Kent was good as was most of the team, with the exception of Kamara. Thought he was totally anonymous.

Agree that sands is a better option than Souttar atm who needs to find his feet.

31 Jul 2022 13:26:44
Defence looked more composed when Sands came on? Didn’t look very composed when Livingston scored their second goal that was chopped off wrongly. Again the big livi striker causing problems and Souttar not on the park.

31 Jul 2022 13:29:52
Kent had a great game yesterday, one of the only players willing to run at them and make something happen. Got an assist, should have had two assists, job done.

31 Jul 2022 13:55:24
MPH yeah sands made all the difference when he came into the defending nothing to do with the big boy upfront being knackered and they did score what looked like a perfectly good goal.

31 Jul 2022 14:07:53
Wright didn't have a good half hence the reason gio took him off.

31 Jul 2022 14:16:03
It's interesting to see how positive everyone is about Tillmans performance (me being one of them) - yet he probably lost the ball more than Kent and missed a big chance.

Seems to me like it's going to be another season of Kent-bashing.

31 Jul 2022 14:37:42
Sands made a huge difference. They never scored a perfectly good goal as the whistle was blown long before the ball hit the net and it was a foul. Our goal that was given as offside was clearly onside, not sure where you are coming from here storm. You sound like one of them sulking?

31 Jul 2022 15:54:26
Livingston never ‘scored’ a perfectly good second goal, Storm.
The whistle was blown by the referee right away for the infringement on Tav by the Livi striker.
So whatever happens after the whistle is blown is immaterial.

31 Jul 2022 15:57:06
Kent lost the ball 21 times in 72 touches, EHL
Tillman lost it 9 times in 40 touches.

31 Jul 2022 16:11:30
OWS, in my opinion Wright was taken off as a precaution after being hit on the knee (full back booked) and after that another go at Weight's knee (not booked) but hooked.

31 Jul 2022 16:50:44
Kent gets doubled up on Mrph, not really sure what point you are trying to make? If Kent doesn't run at teams and take them on then spaces don't open up and we don't create chances. Would you rather we passed the ball backwards or side to side like we did under warburton because that's what would happen if we never ran at teams and took them on. Kent got an assist and should have had two, as a winger he did his Job. Also tilman played 45min. Not sure why you are making a comparison?

31 Jul 2022 17:07:39
Also Mrph you say Kent lost the ball 21 times in 72 touches in 90mins.

In 45 mins you say Tilman lost it 9 times in 40 touches, that's approx 50% of Kent's stats who played 90mins.

So what I'm trying to say is if Tilman plays 90mins let's say he loses it 18 times in 80 touches. Very similar to Kent but you are having a go at Kent but you said yesterday Tilman is a player.

As I said mate am not really sure what point you are trying to make because the way I see it you are contradicting yourself, very similar Stats but one is a player and the other loses it far too often?

31 Jul 2022 17:20:08
MPH - out of interest, where do you get your data from?

31 Jul 2022 19:20:50
Tillman lost the ball 22% of his touches
Kent lost the ball 30% of his touches
Not exactly similar, Pundit?
And it’s all about opinions. Tillman in his 2 appearances that I have seen him looks a player. We’ll just have to see what the season brings for him.
I already know what to expect from Kent who is a talent but should be delivering so much more.

31 Jul 2022 19:21:38
Knowledge is power, EHL.
Can’t be giving my source away???.

31 Jul 2022 19:22:38
Tillman had 3 players on him at the left wing and managed to get away from them all to create a chance in the Livi box, Pundit.
You are making excuses for Kent by saying he gets doubled up on. ?‍♂️
And how many openings did Kent create by running at Livi yesterday?
I just expect more from him.
Not sure why are you are therefore making the comparison? Surely if an attacking midfielder can create with 3 players round about him then Kent an attacking winger can beat a man or 2?
